Commemorating 100 years since the end of WW1,
why the royal family?
Totally irrelevant

OP posts:
BloobCurdling · 12/11/2018 11:43

Oh... I thought it was nice! Not a royalist but I noticed that they picked the three most prominent female members of the RF and I liked that.

InspectorIkmen · 12/11/2018 11:45

You sound a bit soft in the head OP - and you've seriously misjudged your outrage here!

raisedbyguineapigs · 12/11/2018 11:49

I wouldn't say I was 'appalled' or even that bothered but in conrast to the other papers it was a strange picture to use. Probably because they know what their readership like.

OP you need to go and read your book and calm the XXXX down.

The Queen is head of state.

I, like millions of others, like seeing the Royal Family doing their duty on occasions such as Remembrance Sunday.

Go and have a lie down and find something non-ridiculous to get het up about.

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 12/11/2018 11:55

Queen is head of state & head of forces; flanked by 2 Queen Consorts in waiting. It's not like the royals haven't been personally involved or affected.

There's lots of other suitable pics that could have been used, but there's nothing objectionable or inappropriate about that one. If anything I thought it rather highlighted a sad truth about the cost of war. The ceremony down below was mostly male led and mourned a majority male dead. The photo showed three women looking on and mourning.

LittleBookofCalm · 12/11/2018 11:56

I am calm, unlike some posters

OP posts:
Dahlietta · 12/11/2018 11:56

I would gladly do away with the whole Royal Family, but even I can't get worked up about this.

LittleBookofCalm · 12/11/2018 11:56

Soft in the head? Maybe

OP posts:
tillytrotter21 · 12/11/2018 11:59

nasty right wing nationalist rags

Totally unlike the communist inspired left wing rags?

ThanosSavedMe · 12/11/2018 11:59

It’s because the mail and express are obsessed with the royals. If the express could have found a way to out Diana on the front page, they would have done

LittleBookofCalm · 12/11/2018 12:05

😁 Sactly, where was the Queen of harts

OP posts:
WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 12/11/2018 12:08

I am no Royalist but why wouldn't she be there ?

Head of State .

Done her part in the War

Lost people of her own, as many of us did, in WWI

I think she had EVERY right to be there .

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 12/11/2018 12:09

I would gladly do away with the whole Royal Family, but even I can't get worked up about this.

Same.

NotACleverName · 12/11/2018 12:09

Gosh, here was me thinking the faux outrage over Jeremy Corbyn’s coat was the most batshit thing posted re: Rememberence Day.

Well done, OP.

petbear · 12/11/2018 12:14

😁 Sactly, where was the Queen of harts?

Eh> ? Confused

To quote a famous mumsnet line......

Are you on glue OP?

Undercoverbanana · 12/11/2018 12:15

OP, you do know there are people without water in Africa, don’t you?

AllTakenSoRubbishUsername · 12/11/2018 12:23

The Mail and the Express are always appalling.

Jux · 12/11/2018 12:25

Michael fOot lost the lAbour leadership and the next election entirely due to wearing an 'inappropriate' coat at the Cenotaph, I seem to remember.

hellsbells99 · 12/11/2018 12:30

I think you are being unfair as yesterday's Mail front page on Remembrance Sunday had an image from the candlelit vigil at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire, and not a picture of the Royals

Purplehammer · 12/11/2018 12:45

The only way HM could have avoided being photographed was to have stayed away out of sight.
Then she would have been vilified for being uncaring.
Which would you rather she have done OP.
Hmm let me guess.

usernamealreadytaken · 12/11/2018 12:58

The Guardian appears to be leading with a lovely picture of the Royal women too. Are you equally appalled OP?

TheFreaksShallInheritTheEarth · 12/11/2018 12:59

Photos of the queen on remembrance day? Ridiculous. They should have had someone like the Commander in Chief of the British Armed Forces instead, surely?

Oh wait...

midsomermurderess · 12/11/2018 13:06

No, Jux, he didn't.
