Is it just me or is this totally bizarre? The huge company considering this in the UK is reportedly Amazon.

Mark of the Beast - no thank you

EdWinchester · 13/11/2018 21:41

I am all for this. I also think samples should be taken of babies' DNA.

Nothing to hide. Not worried my arm will be chopped off Grin

I’m up for it. No more having to remember my bank card, my work pass, my travel card, my door keys... fantastic.

The ‘nothing to hide’ posters are being really naive if they think this is acceptable

This is what fundamentalist Christians have been warning about for years

Mark of the beast!!!!

NameChanger22 · 13/11/2018 22:13

No.fucking.way

The world has gone completely mad.

Deadbudgie · 13/11/2018 22:13

Potential issues

  1. Chips failing to work, how many chips would you end up having
  2. Moving jobs, yet another chip
  3. Chip migration, could this be potentially dangerous?
  4. Body attacking foreign body, could this lead to septicaemia, cancer?
  5. Potential for tracking outside work?
  6. Tracking inappropriately in workplace eg going to the toilet (possible sexism -pregnant women usingvtoilets more or discrimination against disabled etc).
  7. Increased presentism in professional roles.)
8.unknown long term risks
  1. Employer thinking they had a right to my body

Pros

No losing my pass in the morning

SuperstarDJ · 13/11/2018 22:14

I cannot think of one single benefit that this would bring to a workplace that can’t already be achieved via another method and that doesn’t involve implanting a chip in each employees body.

PebbleDashed · 13/11/2018 22:14

I'm off to watch Blakes' 7 again, and re-read 1984 - in print, not ebook. The potential offered by modern technology to slip quietly into a totalitarian's fantasy the likes of which humanity has never seen before is bloody terrifying.

selfconfesseduggaddict · 13/11/2018 22:15

Revelation 13:16-18 King James Version (KJV)
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

It's in the bible!

FloofyDoof · 13/11/2018 22:20

Hardly surprising that it's Amazon. Better than staff cages but not by much. No way I'd have a chip implanted.

uk.businessinsider.com/amazon-defends-worker-cage-patent-that-was-recently-unearthed-2018-9

NameChanger22 · 13/11/2018 22:27

I think I'll be boycotting Amazon if they proceed with this crap.

I won't even get a smartphone. We need some people in society still in touch with what it means to be a free thinking human.

Wordthe · 14/11/2018 00:05

We should be able to have the benefits of all these lovely toys without the big brother side
none of these things could have been developed without common resources provided for by public money the roads infrastructure the rule of law education healthcare eccetera

I want all the latest tech but I don't want to be closely and minutely surveilled at every turn 😒
