AIBU to wonder if Prince William shaves his own face?

Not really an AIBU but I've often wondered about the Royal family in general and if they've got someone to do literally everything for them! For example Prince William always looks like he's had a professional shave, very smooth, never a little razor cut to be seen and looks like he uses moisturiser too. I know for special public events he probably has his own barber etc but surely on a 'normal' morning such as bringing the kids to school would he do his own shaving and Kate maybe put her hair in a ponytail and make breakfast for the kids or is all the cooking always done for them? I like the Royals btw so just curious!!

I agree with the poster who commented that Kate looks far healthier with a good stone on her; she truly does. I think William probably does a traditional wet shave on himself, and agree that he uses moisturiser as he does seem to have very good skin. Harry on the other hand is more ruddy in complexion and that beard does need a good trim! I think they probably have as little staff as possible as they want their children to be as independent as they can be from as early as possible.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 12/11/2018 08:08

When I see her on the school run, she has a close protection officer with her sitting in the front (can’t see in the back so might be more) but she’s driving. I think it’s lovely.

LivLemler · 12/11/2018 08:14

In fairness to Eliza9917, I read the wet nurse comment as humorous - "I think they do lots themselves, but what do I know, they probably had a wet nurse".

Amaaboutthis · 12/11/2018 08:55

Do you think that she has the same episode of Peppa pig playing 45 times a day because it’s the only thing that gets Charlotte to finish her dinner and does George get to play with her phone if he’s whining in the back of the car?

AgathaRaisinDetra · 12/11/2018 09:13

Do you think they have Royal Protection Officers outside their bedroom door,'? Must be awkward when they're trying to produce the heirs.

GinIsIn · 12/11/2018 09:24

She was shopping for school shoes in Peter Jones when I was in there trying to get shoes for my goddaughter. She looked tired, and very normal, and had a proper mum handbag with all the paraphernalia that one tends to accumulate.

They are quite often spotted in Waitrose in Kensington too - apparently she’s very good at remembering to bring a bag for life.

Avonandice · 12/11/2018 09:48

She did do her own shopping when they were in Anglesey as we were in Waitrose the same time she was.

I didnt realise who she was till a couple of days later. Think we passed in the milk aisle and she said hello to DS who was with me and he
was grinning and waving at any woman he passed.

BertrandRussell · 12/11/2018 10:00

Presumably he has a valet.

AcidPops · 12/11/2018 10:12

I often think about stuff like this! Although I don’t understand current think No about wet nursing, I would have happily breast fed any child when I was producing milk. I had loads and plenty to spare!

harshbuttrue1980 · 12/11/2018 10:28

We all know what staff they have as new staff appointments are announced. They have a full-time live-in nanny (Maria) and a full-time live-in housekeeper (Antonella Fresolone). Kate also has a stylist, hairdresser, PA and protection officer, so I'm assuming William has the same. In the advert for the housekeeper, it said that the successful candidate had to be willing to babysit and walk the dog. I'm guessing that the housekeeper therefore has the kids when the nanny has time off.

I had a friend who was a royal nanny in Saudi, and she was employed on a 24/6 basis, so their nanny might be the same, with the housekeeper to fill in at other times. The Queen used to like to see her children for 30 minutes in the evenings, and I'm assuming that Kate and William do the same when they're not out socialising.

AamdC · 12/11/2018 10:38

I have np.idea really harsh but times have changed i rhink it was quite common for rhe arisocracy not o have much hands on child care in times gone buy Maybe William and Kate prefer to spend more time with their kids?

StealthPolarBear · 12/11/2018 10:39

I'd hope they see them for more than 30 mins a day! And I bet her mum bag didn't have biscuit crumbs in the bottom. As mine does despite the fact my children are 11 and 9 :o

tiredmumofmany · 12/11/2018 10:43

harsh where are the adverts? The local Gazette? Grin

Perch · 12/11/2018 10:49

@JockTamsonsBairns I used to work for someone who was a close childhood friend of the queen. She and her husband (when they all were younger) visit her maj and phil on a sunday, watch telly and eat scrambled eggs or an omelette that the queen would make herself. Lots of lovely stories and memoribilia. She attended the coronation and diana’s wedding.

BrieAndChilli · 12/11/2018 11:35

The younger generation do then to do more than the older royals do/did but they still have the option - if they dont feel like it or have the time someone is there to do it for them!

SugarandSpice100 · 12/11/2018 13:01

I wonder if Kate is reading this thread or if she has a mumsnet account?! She'd probably find it all these speculations hilarious! It must be a restrictive life in some ways as for instance they're not allowed to have their own individual social media accounts in their own name, why is that btw? Megan had to delete hers before marrying Harry which she can't have been happy about as being a feminist she was apparently vocal with expressing her views on social media and regarded it as a good outlet. It seems ironic now that a feminist has actually married a Prince and in some ways has to get used to being told what to do and wear!

Eugenie has an Instagram account doesn’t she?

harshbuttrue1980 · 12/11/2018 13:11

tired - the adverts were in the Lady, and the names and full-time, live-in status of the staff have been confirmed by Kensington Palace. Adverts for royal staff are commonly advertised in the Lady, and the adverts are very open about the fact that it is the royal household who are advertising - there is no secret about it.

AandC - the example of the Saudi royal nanny was a recent one, just a few years back.

If royals are brought up not seeing much of their parents, then that is just what they know and will replicate. I think its a bit lazy of parents who don't work very many days to have a live-in nanny, but it doesn't necessarily harm the children, as they will just see the nanny in the same way as most of us see our parent. As long as the same nanny is used throughout the whole of childhood and not chopping and changing.

Eliza9917 · 12/11/2018 13:11

She manages a designs company's IG as her job doesn't she?

Eliza9917 · 12/11/2018 13:12

*design

SugarandSpice100 · 12/11/2018 13:13

Yes Eugenie does and so does her Father Prince Andrew but the main ones inline to the throne William, Kate and Harry aren't allowed. I'm surprised as well about Kates sister Pippa as she's in the public eye talking about nutrition and various charities a lot but she doesn't have any public social media accounts as far as I know.

With all the staff and royals living and working at KP, my bet is that there is a massive kitchen with a team of chefs capable of doing anything that is required, from a sandwich buffet for a staff meeting to a multi-course evening meal for guests or just a simple children's tea.

SugarandSpice100 · 12/11/2018 13:56

@Genevieva how the other half live!!

OP posts:
Genevieva · 12/11/2018 14:07

@SugarandSpice100 Indeed! I would love a housekeeper to keep on top of the laundry and banish the spiders, but I wouldn't swap lives if I was given the chance. They spend a lot of time in church services, shaking hands with strangers and making small talk. I would probably copy the Queen and wear gloves all the time if I was shaking that many hands. Also, I can't imagine anything worse than being famous.

Cel982 · 12/11/2018 14:25

The Queen used to like to see her children for 30 minutes in the evenings, and I'm assuming that Kate and William do the same when they're not out socialising.

Really? You think a young couple in 2018 are likely to follow Victorian child-rearing practices? Hmm I'd be really surprised if this were true; there's plenty of evidence that both parents are very hands-on. I'm pretty sure even William got more than 30 minutes a day with his parents, growing up, and Kate had a very normal - if fairly privileged - upbringing, with her Mum largely working from home. Very few people who have had that sort of childhood would be then willing to hand over the bulk of their own parenting to a nanny.
