AIBU to wonder if Prince William shaves his own face?

Not really an AIBU but I've often wondered about the Royal family in general and if they've got someone to do literally everything for them! For example Prince William always looks like he's had a professional shave, very smooth, never a little razor cut to be seen and looks like he uses moisturiser too. I know for special public events he probably has his own barber etc but surely on a 'normal' morning such as bringing the kids to school would he do his own shaving and Kate maybe put her hair in a ponytail and make breakfast for the kids or is all the cooking always done for them? I like the Royals btw so just curious!!

(So sorry, he was referring to his staff/ security and seems like they are there 24/7 in some capacity)

harshbuttrue1980 · 11/11/2018 17:57

He's probably got a valet to shave him, lay out his clothes, clean his shoes etc. Kate will have a ladies maid. Its just what royals are used to having. I doubt they have a wet nurse - they will probably get the nanny to give the baby his bottles. I think they were going to do without a nanny when they first had George, but that didn't last long. I doubt they do much, and I'm guessing George's days at home are numbered anyway as they'll pack him off to boarding school soon.

I bet Megan and Harry are more down to earth - I can't see Harry having someone shave him, and Megan didn't go to boarding school so she may be more likely to be a hands-on mum.

@SugarandSpice100 there are staff quarters at Kensington Palace which include security and press staff, so they're effectively neighbours with them.

KimchiLaLa · 11/11/2018 17:59

He's spoken about her cooking not being great before so they did try to do things for themselves, whether they still do is anyone's guess. I think I read somewhere she dies a lot of the childcare herself, or did at least with George in the beginning. You could see the tiredness on her face in the beginning so it looks like she did. They probably had a wet nurse though so who knows.

Weird, I read an interview where he said her cooking was decent?

TattiusTeddius · 11/11/2018 18:00

If you work go their press team living at KO is a requirement, I work in that field and looked into it once when a job came up (not for me)

I imagine he does it himself most of the time. I expect too that they do a fair amount of their own parenting. Kate often looks knackered and I’m sure that Royal 5 year olds are just as likely to need drink or want daddy to check for monsters in the middle of the night as any other 5 year olds. Even if they have a night nurse for the baby I doubt that the other 2 won’t want mum and dad and the nanny won’t be on duty 24/7 anyway

MiggledyHiggins · 11/11/2018 18:07

They seem quite guarded about their privacy so I'd imagine that household staff would be kept to a minimum if that was the case. Even the most loyal of staff like his mother's butler couldn't shut up spilling her private life some years ago. If I was to guess I'd say they probably have some sort of nanny and maybe a housekeeper, but hardly Downton Abbey standards.

JockTamsonsBairns · 11/11/2018 18:07

I was just wondering this earlier, specifically about cooking. I know the queen has a team of private chefs who prepare and serve her meals but, in the event of her feeling a bit peckish outside of mealtimes, could she just pop through to the kitchen and have a mooch through the fridge or the snack drawer (or whatever they have in the Buckingham Palace kitchen)?

GemmeFatale · 11/11/2018 18:13

Pretty sure they’re protected by armed police who work a normal (long) shift pattern and go home to their own families.

Normally they will be outside/in the grounds/etc unless the threat level indicates a need for them to be in the home outside of standard sweeps.

derxa · 11/11/2018 18:13

I very much doubt they had a wet nurse ffs Grin This made me howl for some reason. In my highly esteemed opinion I think Kate is quite hands on with her children.

BrieAndChilli · 11/11/2018 18:13

In a weird way I reckon they probably get to spend more time actually playing with the kids than most normal people!
Just think, if you don’t have to clean your house (to the extent of picking up toys, tidying up constantly after the kids, running a bath, looking for your keys/kids teddy etc) or have to spend time sorting out bills/comparing car insurance/booking holidays, and don’t have to cook, or do food shopping nor have to do laundry and ironing etc you would have loads of time to actually just ‘be’ with your kids!!

BertramKibbler · 11/11/2018 18:16

I imagine they’re living the dream, they can do as much or as little as they like.

If they’re having an off day then they have the staff there to do everything but at the same time have a lot more free time to spend with their children than most of us. It’s

Butterfly98 · 11/11/2018 18:19

Yes @BrieAndChilli when you outline it like that I would say they have loads of time to spend with their children as they can't have official engagements on everyday surely.... William gave up his Pilot job so he's fully devoted to Royal duties now

WindyWednesday · 11/11/2018 18:24

I think pp are getting muddled with downton abbey.

A friend of mine knew PW and said he was very down to earth. I’m sure he shaves himself.

Missingstreetlife · 11/11/2018 18:24

All this imagining, how lovely. Truly fairy stories.

TattiusTeddius · 11/11/2018 18:26

@BrieAndChilli she definitely goes shopping I've seen pictures of her pushing a trolley when they lived in Wales

SerenDippitty · 11/11/2018 18:30

TattiusTeddius that doesn’t mean she does now that they are living in a palace in London, I would be surprised if she does any of her own food shopping or cooking.

WindyWednesday · 11/11/2018 18:31

I’ve seen photos of her shopping for food in London. Can’t remember if it was Waitrose or M&S. But she had a big trolley and a bag for life.

SugarandSpice100 · 11/11/2018 18:32

Just watching the Remembrance ceremony at Westminster Abbey now and the Queen and Camilla are both wearing purple. Does anyone think that was planned as they are very similar outfits?

WindyWednesday · 11/11/2018 18:34

It’s was a Waitrose in Norfolk. I guess it’s a security risk if she a regular shopper. I don’t hang out in supermarkets, I get home delivery.

BrieAndChilli · 11/11/2018 18:36

The cynic is me ponders if things like supermarket shopping are actually staged so it feeds thier image of being normal and down with the people?!

SheSparkles · 11/11/2018 18:37

“Kate, how many times have I asked you not to use my razor to shave your bloody legs” 😂😂

WindyWednesday · 11/11/2018 18:40

I remember one time she was snapped she had breast pads at the top of the shopping bag.

Fluffyears · 11/11/2018 18:42

Prince Charles has someone to ‘help him dress’ and Kate possibly has a hairdresser to do her hair before events so he might have someone to assist him with shaving etc. Although in the military he’d have to be able to sort himself out.
