AIBU to wonder if Prince William shaves his own face?

Not really an AIBU but I've often wondered about the Royal family in general and if they've got someone to do literally everything for them! For example Prince William always looks like he's had a professional shave, very smooth, never a little razor cut to be seen and looks like he uses moisturiser too. I know for special public events he probably has his own barber etc but surely on a 'normal' morning such as bringing the kids to school would he do his own shaving and Kate maybe put her hair in a ponytail and make breakfast for the kids or is all the cooking always done for them? I like the Royals btw so just curious!!

Didn’t Harry propose to Meghan when they were roasting a chicken? So they do cook for themselves

Rudgie47 · 11/11/2018 18:44

If he has a barber they need to be sacked.
He needs his head shaving down to the bone a number 1 cut, not having the sides and back like they are now. He looks silly for a man of his age.

GroundhogWeek · 11/11/2018 18:44

she definitely goes shopping I've seen pictures of her pushing a trolley when they lived in Wales

She’s quite a regular at Waitrose near Sandringham. I have a friend who works there and have seen her a couple of times myself.

VladmirsPoutine · 11/11/2018 18:47

Kate looks bloody knackered most of the time since having George so I reckon they do all that sort of thing themselves. I'm not knocking her at all but there was a time when even when she was made up with her hair done etc there was no way of disguising bags under eyes.

I'm curious as to how she stays that thin! Especially as it isn't her natural build.

Marnimajor · 11/11/2018 18:52

I know someone who ended up going up to Windsor at short notice to keep the Queen company for the afternoon (person I know is a close relative of someone who married into the Royals and happened to be visiting them when the queen requested their company so she got to go up with them too) - Queen did her own washing up (mind you this was a long time ago, I hope at 90+ she lets other people clean up after her now.. )

Artofhappiness · 11/11/2018 19:04

Friend works in a Royal household and they don’t have as many staff these days. She says it’s very similar to an upper class family type household or millionaire type set up staff wise.

Artofhappiness · 11/11/2018 19:06

Not that I know what a millionaire type household staff would look like. I nodded sagely at the time though Grin

anniehm · 11/11/2018 19:09

They have a nanny (but they need one as they can't so no to an event because they are looking after the kids!) I guess they have a cleaner/housekeeper of some sort and other people on call eg hairdresser as needed - yes he looks clean shaven but so do many men, and if he is public maybe he has a barber come (he does the school run sometimes, is he clean shaven then?)

thecatsthecats · 11/11/2018 19:10

Must be quite easy, I'd have thought, not having a job, access to top dieticians and personal trainers and the like.

ferrier · 11/11/2018 19:11

When they were in Anglesey I read that they did pretty much everything themselves. They had some protection officers but that was about it.

anniehm · 11/11/2018 19:12

As for food shopping, for security reasons I suspect Ocado delivers. They said they have to get someone to pick up takeaways for security reasons and they aren't in their name. They can't just go out, they are a target for people up to no good

Notasunnybunny · 11/11/2018 19:19

Both boys have been in the armed forces, of course they can shave themselves but as some others suggested he will have a barber who will do wet shaves regularly. He will also have someone who manages his wardrobe, makes sure everything is pressed and ready, they will also manage things like having back up clothing available for public engagements etc. I think their home life is fairly normal, they will have a housekeeper but I believe they are pretty much a normal family of an evening. Obviously there is the exceptions like having to have a member of the security team collect the Indian take out but that’s out of practicality not because they can’t be bothered.

ShinyMe · 11/11/2018 19:22

Kate certainly used to push her own trolley round Waitrose when they lived in Anglesey, my mum saw her there regularly, as it's her local shop.

SugarandSpice100 · 11/11/2018 20:23

I didn't realise how thin Kate was until I recently saw photos of her and Williams graduation from St Andrews circa 2006/7?. She was at least a stone heavier with a fuller face but much healthier looking and obviously younger! In saying that have you seen how thin Megans legs are, omg they look like they could break quite easily, it must be all that yoga! At face value I think Kate comes across as genuine. Megan on the other hand seems overly sweet and smiley, it's glaringly obvious that she's a trained actor and always knows when the camera is on her. You can tell Harry really loves her just by looking at them on tour in NZ, hope she loves him back just as much!

I am hoping so much that they are reading this thread and absolutely pissing themselves laughing about the wet nurse and the toilet paper stuck on razor nicks.

TooManyPaws · 11/11/2018 20:34

Didn't he say a few weeks ago on a visit abroad that Kate was quite envious that he was going to get a few nights of sleep away from their (emphasis) 'darling children'? He just about fell asleep in public a few days after Louis' birth. He also complained in the past that bachelor Harry kept raiding their fridge. I heard that he turned up at a parents 'getting to know you' night at school in jersey, trousers and glasses, introducing himself by his first name.

I reckon that they use nannies like most people use childminders and grandparents for when they're working, except that some of their work will be all over the country and/or in the evenings. Apparently they only had a cleaner in Wales.

Hopoindown31 · 11/11/2018 20:35

Well he used to at least so he knows how to do it. DP played football with him at uni and said he sometimes shaved afterwards.

Amaaboutthis · 11/11/2018 21:27

I seriously doubt that mummy and daddy Middleton have a fully staffed house, most likely just a housekeeper a couple of days a week so I imagine that when they are there it’ll be a fairly hands on affair

IdentifyasTired · 11/11/2018 21:44

They are a lot more normal than previous generations. The Queen didn't even go to school.

On a purely personal note, I think it was better when they accepted their place as 'not normal' and kept themselves seperate.

Monarchy and realness don't mix. Just my two cents.

LaDaronne · 11/11/2018 21:50

There was a story in Private Eye recently about Charles squealing in horror at something strange on his dinner, until Camilla pointed out it was clingfilm.

ozymandiusking · 11/11/2018 22:16

IdentifyasTired, Don't you mean as "reality" don't mix?

MorningsEleven · 11/11/2018 23:16

I really want to know what they get when they order a takeaway.

StealthPolarBear · 11/11/2018 23:24

I wonder about this stuff too. Do they change a toilet roll? Sometimes have weetabix for dinner?
(or is that just us...)

tiredmumofmany · 12/11/2018 07:49

Whilst buying a tantrumming ds3 a Paw Patrol tracksuit recently I wondered if George is allowed to watch it and does he read character clothing.
I'm shocked at Kate shopping in Waitrose. Would she not need constant security? Or does nobody care as she is not a Royal? The same regarding school pick ups, I thought it would have to be in a fortified fleet of vehicles?

tiredmumofmany · 12/11/2018 07:51

Stealth I wonder do they head to Home Bargains for the Nicky toilet paper?
