We're looking for a new house at the moment...

Love this house but look at pictures 18 and 19 - what on earth ?!

Erm that kitchen was designed by an excellent and renowned designer 😡

And it is a steam room, we took inspiration from a wonderful holiday we enjoyed very much

Bit rude to post about my house like this

DTSMUMBOJO · 11/11/2018 17:40

That isn't somebody's home, that is a home which has been done up by a developer to a certain specification for a specific market: Middle Eastern buyers. If you have a look at the most expensive properties in London on Savill's and Knight Frank they all look the same and they all have a cinema room like that. Can see why a self contained house for the same market would logically have a hammam.

Doesn't matter a jot that it's not to our tastes. None of us could afford it. Nobody cares whether we like it or not.

Off topic. There is a Victorian Hammam which operates as a women's spa in my city and it's lurvely.

Buteo · 11/11/2018 17:48

Why is there a bedroom directly off the kitchen, but the dining room is on a different floor? Although it does look like there might be a dumb waiter behind the hideous wooden doors in the kitchen. Wonder what is behind the glass door in the kitchen?

The bedroom will probably be for a member/s of staff.

I could imagine walking in there drunk and actually throwing up from dizziness! What a beautiful house though!!!

goose1964 · 11/11/2018 19:43

That room is hideous but knowing where that house is it'll be well into millions

MrsMoastyToasty · 11/11/2018 19:56

Knowing where that house is I know that although it has views across the Avon Gorge it also has views of the A4, one of the busiest roads into Bristol.

Bluntness100 · 11/11/2018 20:06

Gosh I do wonder what type of fabulous home all the posters on here are living in. 😱

I think its a beautiful property, and although some isn't to my taste, it's still a beautiful property with fantastic views.

oblada · 11/11/2018 20:11

It's clearly a steam room so wouldn't bother me that much.... Not that i could afford it anyway!

PickAChew · 11/11/2018 20:17

With all those different sized tiles, my eyes wouldn't be able to focus and I'd go blind in that room.

Is that a train track under the glass counter thing, in the kitchen? Confused

PippilottaLongstocking · 11/11/2018 20:25

I feel like the steam room would be less intense in person, when the tiles don’t translate to a 2D image well but I think when you can actually move around it it wouldn’t be so bad. It is really quite extraordinary though!

Bluelady · 11/11/2018 20:26

I can't see the issue with the kitchen. Ripping those tiles out might be fun.

MsJudgemental · 11/11/2018 20:36

I also know where that is. Agree that anyone who can afford it can also afford to change the dodgy bits.

UterusUterusGhali · 11/11/2018 20:44

The kitchen is by far the worst thing in that house. Nasty.

I want a room of Alain! It'd have a brown chair and William Morris curtains.

slappinthebass · 11/11/2018 20:46

I don't get the shock? It's a sauna isn't it? My guess in the separate building that was pictured. I thought the cinema room was a giant picture of someone in a cave at first though . A cool cinema room though. Is it in your budget OP?

Batteriesallgone · 11/11/2018 20:53

Right so who’s going to apply to find out the cost?

My guess is £2.5mil. The London downswing will be hitting Bristol hard soon (if not already).

45redballoons · 11/11/2018 21:02

What’s so terrible about the kitchen?

PickAChew · 11/11/2018 21:14

You can normally work out the cost by where it appears on rightmove.

Batteriesallgone · 11/11/2018 21:22

Ah! Thanks Pick so somewhere between £3-4mil.

Nah, I’ll pass this time Grin

Beaverfeaver2 · 11/11/2018 21:23

18 is a steam room

Buteo · 11/11/2018 21:24

It was up for sale for £1.6 million in 2003, minus a building plot (at least one plot was sold for £500k last year).
