We're looking for a new house at the moment...

Love this house but look at pictures 18 and 19 - what on earth ?!

It's a very nice house, I'm guessing the OP is the estate agent, doing some stealth marketing.

brizzledrizzle · 11/11/2018 14:14

If I were the estate agent for houses like that I'd be living there because my commission would mean I could afford it Grin

£3m-£4m seems like a lot when it needs so much redecorating, but i guess it has a lot of land.

Agree with @bruise, if the red was changed to blues and greens it might look ok. I'd have to paint the cinema room though, it looks awful.

I could live with that kitchen quite easily, if you saw the awful dated 80s yellowy cream chipboard kitchen we're putting up with for years here you'd not be surprised! Also it's a fantastic size.

morningconstitutional2017 · 11/11/2018 14:15

Maybe that's why they're moving - to get away from it. Dearie me.

SoupDragon · 11/11/2018 14:21

Meh. It's no worse than the plain magnolia boxes really. I'd rather see something with a bit of personality rather than walk to wall greige.

That said, that's a lot of re-tiling if you don't like it!

LakieLady · 11/11/2018 14:21

Proof that money doesn't buy you taste imo!

Miscible · 11/11/2018 14:22

Judging from the rest of the house, the owners really like beige. Maybe they felt the need for a change when it came to the basement.

cantfindname · 11/11/2018 14:29

18 and 19 would give me migraine.

KC225 · 11/11/2018 14:32

I was thinking, hello this looks lovely what could be the problem. Bloody hell - that cinema looks the inside of uterus. And yes, I am going to do womb with a view. The steam room is errrrr I think its the colour ways. I don't like the Scandinavia pine steam/sauna rooms either. Much prefer the Moroccan zellige ( think its called that)

LakieLady · 11/11/2018 14:35

This house is more my sort of place, but even they've got a really naff bathroom. Pic 39, I think.

SecretNutellaFix · 11/11/2018 14:35

I was just taken aback by the lime washing of the wood panels. Everywhere.

The oven range confused me a bit.

Letshopeitsallok · 11/11/2018 14:37

All I could think of was Christian Grey’s Red Room of Alain and I e not even read the bloody books!

RibbonAurora · 11/11/2018 14:37

I was looking through and thinking it's nice if a bit beige, the kitchen's a bit out there and then - holy fuck! It's like something out of a drug-induced hallucination! Grin

Letshopeitsallok · 11/11/2018 14:38

Pain not Alain!

tasdee · 11/11/2018 14:39

MsLexic I've never heard of a communal toilet fountain in the "far east or similar"?! I thought it was a standard (slightly ugly) steam room?

Sweetpea55 · 11/11/2018 14:40

19---Is that a font in the middle of the floor,?

youknowyourself · 11/11/2018 14:41

If someone wanted to give me that house for free, I could live with it.

Mummyoflittledragon · 11/11/2018 14:47

If I were able to live in that house I think I could get over it. I like quirky things tbh.

trancepants · 11/11/2018 14:50

I have more of an issue with the fact they seem to be watching Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull. Evidence of no taste or shame.

That's what I was most offended by too. Shock

eddiemairswife · 11/11/2018 15:00

Such is my ignorance -- I had to google hammam.
Why is there a railway track under the curved kitchen counter?
No bookcases?

Jaxhog · 11/11/2018 15:05

They are the cinema room and turkish steam room. (Check out the floor plan!)

I'd buy it. The views are fabulous. POA though - it'll be very expensive.

Serialweightwatcher · 11/11/2018 15:07

18 reminds me of the entrance to an Indian restaurant I used to go to with the seating area, but not sure what the thing is in the middle and it makes my eyes go funny Confused

OlBitey · 11/11/2018 15:07

What's with all the pig statues/ornaments?

Aridane · 11/11/2018 15:23

I like it - including the quirky basement with its red themed cinema room, hamam and matching bathroom Blush !

Mishappening · 11/11/2018 15:27

There's posh!
