I personally don’t see anything wrong with bragging about your achievements, whether they be academic (graduation) or materialistic (luxury car after saving for 3 years).

In fact, I love reading that and it inspires me. Hopefully it would inspire others too or allow them to live vicariously through you.

If you are bothered by bragging, please read no further.

SO, everyone is invited to my bragfest where they can brag about that new promotion, that designer handbag or that dream holiday. No judgements here, just celebrations for your achievement !

I’ve just come back from visiting DS at uni. His dad buggered off when he was 2 so I raised him as a single mum. He’s awesome, aced his A levels with 4 A stars and is at Imperial college studying joint maths and computer science.

He’s struggled with anxiety for years and following the Westminster bridge attack in 2017 he had a huge mental health crisis. He was totally incapacitated by his anxiety and could barely leave the House; returning to university seemed impossible. Supporting him over last year has been tough but he’s now well enough to be back living independently in london and studying again. I’m very proud

I’m a single parent again now to DD who has just been placed a ‘gifted and talented’ extension group at school so looks like I may have another genius on my hands too!

EradicatetheDoubt · 11/11/2018 21:03

I paid more off my c.card today & it will be £0, Zero clear, nought pounds, kapuzh, zilch, by Xmas Grin

My DC keeps getting Headteachers awards through the post, dropping on the doormat like confetti, special certificates in assembly, (no-one else in the class) a proper big achievement award where I was invited (4 children chosen out of 60) & has been moved up to a higher reading class.

Im a lone parent & have no help. I feel guilty every day Im at work & DC has to go to school clubs & feel bad when we are so tired at the weekend BUT the debt is going & DC is amazing.

Kalimotxo · 11/11/2018 21:10

Really great reading!

I got a promotion 5 months ago and now earn nearly £150k a month. I have a medical degree and a science degree, no mortgage and a safari holiday booked for next year with DH and our child.

We love making our home as nice as possible, with recent additions being a home cinema with drop down projector screen, designer garden and a Quooker tap (love it).

SpitefulMidLifeAnimal · 11/11/2018 21:11

I haven't had a cigarette for almost SIX MONTHS!

SixtyCandles · 11/11/2018 21:12

I graduated with a first in September from UCL- I put in minimal effort!

OhioOhioOhio · 11/11/2018 21:15

My children are clever and beautiful. And I'm raising them alone.

EradicatetheDoubt · 11/11/2018 21:17

Kalimotxo Shock

Whaaat! I earn £15,000 a year! Your post made me smile, in a good way.

Bloody amazing & you deserve it.

Kalimotxo · 11/11/2018 21:18

Congratulations Celestia!!

Having the independence to go anywhere will be amazing. I only learned to drive after age 40, so only now 'getting' it after a lifetime of walking, taxis and public transportation.

cricketmum84 · 11/11/2018 21:19

My teen son came out to me and his dad and wasn't worried about our reaction. He knew we would be supportive.

He also held my hand (in front of people) the other day when I was struggling to walk because of a disc/back issue.

I'm so proud of him.

cricketmum84 · 11/11/2018 21:21

@Pearofwisdom I totally get that. I gave birth in 3 minutes and only 3 pushes whilst having a laugh with the midwife and only using gas and air. Felt ridiculously proud but don't feel like I can tell people how piss easy it was cos it's "not the done thing".

Well done to us both!!!

Chocolatecake12 · 11/11/2018 21:23

I just got a full time job after working part time for many years.
I’ve got the loveliest partner now after splitting up with my exh.
My children are well behaved and always get good comments about what lovely kids they are.
My ds 11 passed his 11+ and has started at grammar school.
My ds 16 passed all his GCSEs and even got 4 7’s!
Thanks for this thread op. It’s nice to be able to write it all down and be proud of myself and my kids.

PippaRabbit · 11/11/2018 21:24

I have a few more. I left teaching behind and set up my own livery yard earlier this year, it was my dream. I have the yard I always wanted to be on before moving here with no nutters of yard owners. The liveries are all lovely, there's no bitching or back stabbing, no angst about winter turnout or whose turning out or bringing in. I turn out and bring in so people aren't worried or stressed rushing home from work to get their horses stables done. There's oodles of grazing for summer and winter. For the first time in my life I have an indoor and outdoor arena so I (and liveries) can ride in all weathers. Half my life used to be worried about my horses and that worry as gone as I live on the yard and have time to spend with them.

My children are grown up and I'm immensely proud of them all. One is a chef, one is a nurse and the other a vet. DH and I struggled financially for many years as our children are close in age but the struggle was worth it!

I started group fitness just under a year ago, I have absolutely no idea what I weigh but I've dropped 4 dress sizes and am smaller now than I was before having my first child. I feel fabulous!

Lazybonita · 11/11/2018 21:24

I have a pretty great husband and two kids who everyone agrees are brilliantly good and kind and smart and fun. My husband recently sold his share in a business which made us a lot of money. We drive really nice cars, go lovely places and live in a really cool house which we are currently doing up. We are surrounded by family who love and support us and we have genuinely lovely friends. I get to stay at home and be there for my dc and my animals. My husband will hopefully be able to retire in his early 50’s and we have plans to travel a lot. I feel ridiculously lucky and would never brag like this in real life so thanks, it’s been fun! Loving all the other posts too.

shakeatailfeather · 11/11/2018 21:25

You're all bloody amazing!

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 11/11/2018 21:26

I have managed to get my health under control

I don’t drink all the time , don’t smoke fags , and am way fitter (and slimmer ) and feeling healthy means the world to me ! I eat way healthier too . I am So much more energised now . This weekend I cleaned the house , did garden , went for a walk and took the kids for a swim after 5 heavy days at work .

Before I would have slumped on the sofa with back ache

Lovely idea for a thread OP

Namechangedtotellyouthisthing · 11/11/2018 21:29

We have mind-blowing sex. Minimum of about three but often over ten and has been as many as twenty or more orgasms each time (for me not him Grin) Not as regularly as we'd like for practical reasons but when it's that good a bit of a break is ok and sometimes necessary. This is the only thing I'm really happy about in life that I can't really talk about that much, because tmi!

DRE56322 · 11/11/2018 21:30

Umm... my life is crap at the moment.
I got through today, though, so there is that. And tomorrow will be better.

Celestia26 · 11/11/2018 21:31

Kalimotxo

Thank you! It's a weight off my mind and it's opened up so many more opportunities for me and my children. Just to jump in the car to visit someone or to go for a day out somewhere is wonderful!

Congratulations to you too, you've had some brilliant achievements!

jq28 · 11/11/2018 21:31

@cricketmum84 that is just lovely.

MakeAHouseAHome · 11/11/2018 21:32

I have a job paying nearly £50k at the age of 25 and just bought my first house that cost nearly £425k. I am proud to day i early the money to buy that house myself without handouts from family but saved dilligently from jobs from the age of 18.

gingajewel · 11/11/2018 21:32

I am always grateful for everything I have achieved in life, however what has really for me smiling at the moment,

  • my two year old aced her two year check and after months of worrying about her speech she doesn’t shut up and made me smile how fab she was
  • my nine year old is just lovely, she is so quiet and shy but i can see she is trying so hard to talk to more people and join in more at dance
  • I have nearly completed my masters degree, I started it when my youngest was just over a year old and never slept and I’ve still managed to do it!

I am so proud of the children I am raising, i always feel like I’m fetting it wrong but just sometimes I look at them and think I’m doing ok!

jq28 · 11/11/2018 21:33

Today I made the most Fabulous festive brownies with mince pie filling in and I nearly choked they were so fucking tasty.

Amaaboutthis · 11/11/2018 21:40

My husband was diagnosed a year ago with incurable rare cancer and told there was nothing they could do. I searched for the best doctors for his condition, managed to get Skype calls with international experts, got him on some trial drugs which I had read about and a year later he’s not cured but he’s in pretty good shape. I’m beyond proud of myself that I took this into my own hands

My kids are amazing, they have handled their dad being ill really well and we’ve managed to more or less carry on as normal.

I’ve had a massive promotion at work and earn more than I’ve ever earnt in my life and absolutely love what I do and that I’ve done it on top of everything else going on at home

Ok enormously proud of us all.

RTFT · 11/11/2018 21:47
