So want to hear a funny story?

Dp passed his driving test on Tuesday, after 7 years together he can finally share the driving!! Fantastic Grin

We went out for dinner tonight to celebrate with friends, no alcohol (obvs - it's my turn to not be the sober one!) and he walked out of the resturant, slipped on a wet mat in the entrance and has broken his leg in 2 places! Oh and his ankle is completely dislocated!

Oh the joys, I can't even blame him, the mat was stupidly slippy I am surprised he is the first one to go down.

Been kicked out of the room by the Dr who is resetting the ankle as he thought I was a faint risk.

Please make me laugh! I know I'm nbu but this is the most active section! I am just so so worried, he cried at the hospital, I hate seeing him so scared!

Oh no how awful. I feel so sorry for both of you. What a real downer. Have you got anyone to sit with you?

Jakethekid · 11/11/2018 01:19

Oh gosh, i hope hes okay. You will need a drink now i bet! Just when he thought he could start driving this happens!

What did the restaurant say about it?

AndBabyMakes3 · 11/11/2018 01:19

So sorry to hear OP. Hope you have some company and that your DP has an easy recovery

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 11/11/2018 01:20

JustHavinABreak thanks you :) no, I did have friends here but sent them home as I wanted dp to be more comfortable and not have to put on a brave face.

JustHavinaBreak that’s an unfortunate username in the circumstances

Haggisfish · 11/11/2018 01:20

Oh my god poor dh!! How bloody awful. Erm....can’t think of anything funny except googling try not to laugh challenges...

3luckystars · 11/11/2018 01:21

Take pictures and write everything down.

I can't think of a joke, but my neighbour knocked down a dog during his driving test.

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 11/11/2018 01:21

Thank you guys! The resturant were good, got him a blanket etc but were obviously terrified. They have asked me to get back in contact when we know what's going on to let them know how he is.

xRoyalty · 11/11/2018 01:22

Sorry to hear that. I bet it is very painful 😟 I hope he feels better soon xxx

bruise · 11/11/2018 01:22

Fuuuuuuck. Poor thing! That must be so bloody painful. Make sure they offer him some good pain relief.

I'm sat toddler bedside, as I have been for the past 1.5 hours. Currently wondering which bin I should put toddler in - recycling or general waste?

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 11/11/2018 01:23

3luckystars oh god! Now that is really unfortunate!

Yes loads of pics and pics of where it happened. I said they had to make sure they got rid of the rug which he said he would do straight away

I’d be in touch with a no win no fee company tbh! Dh smashes his knee slipping on a puddle in a hall-we could prove it had been noted as a problem before but nothing done about it so won our case.

JustHavinABreak · 11/11/2018 01:25

Oh yikes...You're right @ThereGoesTheAlarm I'll just my coat 😆

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 11/11/2018 01:25

bruise gotta be recycling eh? Bio and all that hehe general waste just seems like no effort has gone in Grin

I actually cannot believe this happened tonight, fml!

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 11/11/2018 01:26

Haggisfish yeah I think he will look at that when he is feeling better. I feel guilty because it is such a nice place.

Floralnomad · 11/11/2018 01:27

That sounds really painful , will he need to stay in for any surgical intervention or do they think they can reduce and set it in the emergency dept ?

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 11/11/2018 01:27

JustHavinABreak and ThereGoesTheAlarm and your names go together if you take alarm as ambulance hehehe

OP posts:
DayManChampionOfTheSun · 11/11/2018 01:29

Floralnomad no they have already said it will need surgery, they are going to try and reduce it tonight but it will need surgical intervention.

Ummmm

My son just turned six and got an xbox from us and some birthday money and vouchers from family and friends. He told his teacher his best present was vouchers for the sex shop.

He meant CEX where he can buy games and accessories- honest!

Many years ago my son who is now 21 used to call the crematorium near us the “dead end”... he was only little so wasn’t trying to be funny.

Ummmm... other funny things? Oh yeah get people to type
My name is
My age is
I was born
And
I like
Then complete with their predictive text. Like this
My name is the baby and I will have a look at it tomorrow.
My age is old
I was born at the birth of a nightmare
I like your idea of a good idea

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 11/11/2018 01:30

I've told him I will play maid for the next few months, he really does more than his fair share of cleaning so I have promised I am going to step up and he can just rest. Getting better is most important!

OffToBedhampton · 11/11/2018 01:33

Ugh how awful. But glad that you're retaining your sense of humour!
You can sort out with restaurant in due course as sounds like they'll be liable & will have insurance for this kind of thing, but.that's not something to think about/ worry about now. (Keep screenshots of texts!)

Have Doctor's reset his ankle now? How's he doing? I bet he's high on pain meds!! It'll be a long night OP so have you a coat to cover yourself with so you can snooze a bit in chair by him?

OffToBedhampton · 11/11/2018 01:33

*not to ... I meant 😆

GrabbyMcGrabby · 11/11/2018 01:35

So it was his turn to drive finally and he only goes and gets legless...? Well, halfway there. Any good?

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 11/11/2018 01:36

Oh Isadora2007 that did make me laugh! In fact I may start calling our local one the dead end in honour of your boy, my dad will love it!

I have just had a call from a very high dp, who is loving life right now. The Dr came to find me and the ankle has been reset which is good. Just going back into the room and they are going to check the xrays.

OP posts:
tobee · 11/11/2018 01:42

Ah bad luck indeed, op! BrewSending you coffee not cake as hopefully you are full! Hope the drugs last for a while on dp and you get home to rest reasonably soon. Sitting in A&E can be a loooong all time, can't it?

Not able to think of anything much funny to say, just sympathy for you.
