To have cried (sort of) ....

..... in the office? We had a team meeting this morning, at which I gave a presentation. Flowers were mentioned (something to do with a floral laptop cover) and I wistfully mentioned before my talk that I love flowers and nobody ever gets me any. Just a lighthearted start as I get nervous sometimes when speaking.

On the way back up, a young guy I work with casually asked what my favourites were and I said 'white roses': I'm SO Yorkshire Blush When I got back from lunch there, on my desk, were some beautiful white roses. No note. No card.

There's absolutely nothing to this before anyone puts two and two together and makes 26 but don't you think that was an absolutely beautiful thing to do? It's made my day — I'm struggling slightly with the old menopause at the minute — and complete ruined my tough girl image Shock

There is hope for humanity if you work with such a thoughtful person/people.

It’s a nice gesture Smile

I own a small business and one of the ladies I employ told me once that nobody had got her flowers since her dm died and I sent her flowers the next day. It I hope gave her a little bit of joy

Yes, he is. Very. And I am noted for my liking of younger men Blush but it's SO not like that. He just saw that I was a little melancholy and did something completely lovely.

How lovely. I worked for someone for many years, female, and every so often if one of us spotted some particularly nice flowers for sale we'd buy a bunch for the other. Not regularly or anything, so it was always a nice surprise.

DarlingNikita · 08/11/2018 14:52

What a beautiful gesture. What a nice man.

TombIhadaGraveChange · 08/11/2018 14:52

Can you send him this way, please?

FishesaPlenty · 08/11/2018 14:53

I love buying flowers for people who aren't expecting them. It really cheers me up.

Having said that, somebody bought me some as (what they thought was) a nice gesture once and it did fuck all for me until I gave them to my daughter and made her week.

Owlwantstoshare · 08/11/2018 14:56
