AIBU?

every complaint about Jodie on this thread is misogynistic in tone ("too breathy", "whiny little girl voice", "gushy", "need someone with gravitas")
🙄 or maybe people don't like gushy breathy whining.
How about comparing about her dithering? Is that allowed?

I'm so old that John Pertwee is "my" Doctor, and Jo Grant and Sarah Jane are "my" companions.
I quite like this series. I got bored with the ones with the long and over-complicated story arcs.
This is the first series that I've managed to persuade dp and our teenage dd to watch with me. dp likes Bradley Walsh and dd likes the humour and also really enjoyed the Rosa Parks episode.

In thought men giving birth to boys and women to girls was reinforcing gender stereotypes 😀. The writing is so full of agenda there’s barely room for a story. Hate it more than I can articulate. The writing in the past was getting so complex it needed a PhD in quantum mechanics to unravel at times, but this has gone so far the other way it’s risible. It should be enjoyable at different levels for both children and adults but this has gone beyond stupid. I have no objection whatsoever to a woman Doctor but can’t buy into JW in the role. She’s got no charisma, mystique, gravitas at the appropriate moments etc. She’s just too ‘earthly’ I just wanted great stories like Blink and a believable Doctor.
Also read there’s no Christmas special this year because they’ve run out of ideas. That is frankly pathetic. Coming up with a good Christmas episode shouldn’t be beyond the ability of a decent creative writer. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

She has potential but the Dr character is one note at the moment, no darkness. Too much mugging like - and dressing like - a 1970s kids TV presenter.
Too many companions and too long episodes. Simple but not good stories. They're often flat and like plonking lectures at assembly-time.
I loved the reboot when Russell T Davies got his hands on it but I looked back to see the Chibnall episodes in earlier series and they were all the disappointing ones. Broadchurch was pretty dull and drawn out as well, he's no great TV writer.
The best things have been the woman who died in the first episode, the titles graphic, and Sheffield.

I quite like her, and don't mind the companions (although I do occasionally forgetto keep track of one).
The giving birth was ridiculous. If they had to cut into the "birth sac", where were his internal fluids leaking from, and what was the point of him going into 'labour'?

Watched it because it was a woman, have given up because its PC shite. Doctor Who is supposed to be a scary sci-fi alien fighting fantasy. Not a 3rd wave feminist socially correct neo liberal PC drama. I mean she cant even call her sonic screw driver a screw driver. WTF.
The Doctor never carried a gun but he was never a pacifist. What is that all about? And what the hell has happened to the Chrismas Day special, it has been moved so it doesn't offend anyone. [face palm]
I give up.
