To what to know why men spend so long in the shower?

Maybe it's me and I am being unreasonable?! Is it normal for men to spend nearly an hour having a shower? Why does it take so long? It's not like they're shaving their legs, as far as I know! Is the cliche about having a wank true? I'm sure it often is, but that doesn't explain why the shower process takes so long either! And why have the water on so hot (you come out looking like a beetroot) it makes the bathroom steam up so much that every single thing in there is soaking wet. How the shower mat ends up sopping wet and the entire floor is covered in water I just don't know. Angry

Maybe it's just me who finds this strange/frustrating and wonders why?!!

My dh is the opposite, he dislikes hot showers, I have mine hotter. He also takes only about 3-4 mins to shower every morning.

I don't think it's a man thing. I take long scorching hot showers because I find them relaxing.

With wanking and pissing in the shower, I'm never plucking the hair out the drain again Grin

Your bathroom shouldn’t be soaking wet after a hot shower, don’t you have a decent fan or windows?

Why would it extend to half the population just because one person you know does this?

My husband has half hour long red hot showers too but he's definitely not wanking. I too wonder what can take so long because it's not like he's got loads of hair to wash either

I was going to come on here and suggest wanking too - but an hour?!

I have been told that long baths and showers can be an indicator/symptom of depression - do they seem OK otherwise?

The male/female split in our house is one male fast through the shower (me), one slow and very hot (my 10yo son), one female fast through the shower (wife) and one just very reluctant to get in it at all, but quick when she does (12yo daughter).

So, overall, slower males in our house.

But no wanking.

DH has lukewarm 5 minute showers, but as he doesn't shake his legs before getting out leaves the bath mat sopping.

I on the other hand, have scorching hot showers for either 10 mins or 20 plus if I'm washing my hair. But I shake my legs first so the bath mat is just slightly damp!

He does however spend a lot longer in the bath than I do, as he likes to have a nap Smile

My DH always takes forever and we are often in bathroom getting ready at same time as we have one bathroom and need to leave at same time. In his case he just takes forever to do anything. Changes his playlist about ten times before getting in the shower and then faffs around for ages once actually in there. If I hadn’t seen it myself I would not have believed how long it can take to wash himself and his hair. Maybe just him but previous partners have been similar

How big is the sample of men you are basing this on? In our house, we're the exact opposite: man (me) short, warm showers, woman long, hot showers - I literally find it painful to stand under the shower at the temperature my DW sets it.

@MaxPepsi - what is the "shaking of the legs" before you get out of the shower of which you speak? Confused

Yep, I have the long, hot shower - I get up early to have time for it and my girlfriend cannot get her head round choosing that over staying longer in bed.

I have it hot. Very hot.

To be honest, I just find standing there soaking in the hot water to be one of the most relaxing and pleasant experiences possible. Wanking would be almost ruining it...

My DH takes about 8 mins in the shower and leaves the door ajar, given we have children I really hope he’s not wanking.

Leg shaking??? Erm what? DH can take around 15-20 minutes, mines including hair wash takes about 7 minutes. Have never shaken my legs though Confused

I shake my legs to get rid of excess water.

I do it getting out of the bath too.

If I climb straight out (shower is over bath) then the floor is a lot wetter than if I shake my legs first.

It must work, as the bath mat is soaking after DH gets out, but isn't after I do.

It's just a gentle shake by the way, not a full on hokey cokey !
