To what to know why men spend so long in the shower?

Maybe it's me and I am being unreasonable?! Is it normal for men to spend nearly an hour having a shower? Why does it take so long? It's not like they're shaving their legs, as far as I know! Is the cliche about having a wank true? I'm sure it often is, but that doesn't explain why the shower process takes so long either! And why have the water on so hot (you come out looking like a beetroot) it makes the bathroom steam up so much that every single thing in there is soaking wet. How the shower mat ends up sopping wet and the entire floor is covered in water I just don't know. Angry

Maybe it's just me who finds this strange/frustrating and wonders why?!!

My other half spends about an hour in there but I'd say a good 40 mins of that is pre shower shite so on my 20 mins in the shower and fannying about drying himself.

thenightsky · 01/11/2018 15:50

Mine has the pre-shower 30 min dump. Then the shower goes on and runs, and runs, and runs... for about 20 to 30 mins. Full on boiling hot.

I had to remind him it was a bathroom we'd had fitted, NOT a steam room, when he was moaning about the radiator rusting, the back of the mirror rusting, his razors rusting and all the coating of the cupboard peeling from being constantly drenched in steam. Angry

And before anyone says fit a fan, we have... the biggest most powerful one available!

It must work, as the bath mat is soaking after DH gets out, but isn't after I do.

That's not very scientific - you're changing two variables at the same time. You need to experiment with not shaking your legs to see how much difference it makes. Or get DH to shake his legs. Grin

Wanking.

A 2209 article n the guardian shows that most people take 10 minutes or less, and men are only a few seconds quicker than women.

2009 - obviously

I do not think it is a man thing. I love a long scorching hot shower, half an hour is a long shower for me.

DP takes max 5 to 10 minutes.

noego · 01/11/2018 16:06

As long as it takes.....................

Just saw this on Facebook

Mine has never, ever, ever spent an HOUR in the shower. 10 minutes tops. Same with me. Usually 7-8 minutes. 15 if I am washing my hair.

Who the F spends an HOUR in the shower? Bizarre!

I dread to think how many 100s of gallons of water are being wasted!

Tell him to stop!

RedneckStumpy · 01/11/2018 17:36

DH is in and out within 4 minutes, he doesn’t even wait for the water to warm up.

DadDadDad · 01/11/2018 17:44

Wonder no more. Based on a quick google and a calculation, an hour's shower could be as much as 200 gallons, enough to fill 10 baths.

ForalltheSaints · 01/11/2018 18:18

I am a man and would never spend even as much as 10 minutes in the shower. Maybe I am different from other men!
