To take DS out trick and treating with chickenpox?

DS 6 is more excited about Halloween than birthdays, Christmas, anything else. But he's woken up this morning covered in spots; clearly chickenpox.

WIBU to take him out trick and treating, on his own away from other children, if I kept him well back from people's' doors? He would genuinely be excited just to see houses all decorated ( and his sister could collect sweets for him.)

He is very well in himself.

Not sure walking past someone several feet away is quite the same...

Why would you even take that risk, though? I wouldn't, I don't understand the mentality of anyone who would, tbh.
I'm not compromised in any way, I also had chicken pox already as a child.
Both my kids have had chicken pox. Got a bit cabin fever feeling when the 5 year old caught it from school and had to stay in for a week, what with him and the 1 year old was a bit challenging but we put films on, and as was missing a week of school did daft school stuff like science experiments to keep us sane and amused.
You suck it up, you stay in, it won't kill you. Whereas going out and about around others who it actually might is a no-brainer - stay home.
Called empathy and seeing outside of your own bubble.

Nope not an immunologist but someone who has a family member who has suppressed immunity and just quoting the advice given to them by THEIR immunologist and the NHS so pretty reliable I’d imagine?

You do know that those people, including my family member, go to work/school etc and they don’t expect everyone else to stay at home at the first sign of any possible illness?

Walking past someone several feet away does NOT pose a serious risk to anyone’s health...otherwise those with suppressed immunity would never go out!

I read that you never went in the end.
I also read that you don't like swearing. I love a good swear me ( I am also veh well educated too)

However, to even contemplate going trick or treating with a child with cp shows a complete lack of common sense as well as entitlement.
Cp can be incredibly dangerous. Surely you know that.
Usually, when trick or treating there is never just the one child that rocks up at the door either.. Where we live, they are like
swarms of excited bees in extremely close proximity all queueing up in a bid to get to the sweets.

I hate to say it but you are also very defensive and arrogant and reading through this thread, with almost 250 responses, I see that only one or two have jumped to your defence.

The rest imo are and were absolutely correct and you need to take their views on the chin because you really were being incredibly unreasonable.

Hope that your child recovers from the cp soon.

@HairyArmpits
Glad to read your post. Voice of reason, cutting through rest of pedantry over irrelevant details.

If DD had wanted to see decorations, OP could have taken him out for slow drive in the car.
There was no need to risk his or others' health by walking him round in the cold, on busiest night of the year full of swarming excited children & others out. And to say to her DS "others are getting sweets from knocking in doors, but you can't!!"
Such fun! Hmm Not really nice memories to make Hmm

Anyway OP stayed in and hopefully had a wonderful cosy Halloween night in with his Mum, with Halloween cartoons, hot chocolate etc, that he'll remember fondly as 'Halloween cuddles night'.Smile I hope he gets better soon OP

Sorry, I meant DS not DD.
