I don't know where to start, how do you know which tea bags to use? Do I have milk, if so, how much? Sugar?

It's always puzzled me how people already know all this, I think it's what's put me off trying it before now!

I'm 51 and I have never tried a cup of tea.
Don't like the smell so cant bear to taste it. Will make for other people but will try not to smell it. Same with porridge.

@tor8181 - why? Religious reasons?

I really like bird and blend teas, they do herbal and fruit etc. I get the loose ones and fill my own teabags (eBay!)
Morning kick is one of the best

Sipping a cracking cup of tea now, with a pre-menstrual Fry's Chocolate Cream. Feels rebellious because I normally don't have caffeine after about 3pm but needs must.

Tea is a chinese drink. It should be taken in a cup with no handle, because if it's too hot to hold then it's too hot to drink. It shouldn't have milk or sugar added.
According to Bill Bryson, the British were flummoxed by tea when it first arrived in the country, and tried spreading the leaves on buttered toast. A British website is the wrong place to ask for advice. I say that as someone who can't do anything without having a cup of tea first, with milk in.

a pre-menstrual Fry's Chocolate Cream OMG I have pmt and want that now!

Tea is a chinese drink. It should be taken in a cup with no handle oh come on. That's like saying we have to eat potatoes like the Aztecs did and can't have a cappucino in the afternoon because the italians don't, and chicken tikka masala is a crime, etc etc blah blah. I'm not Chinese, I'm English, and English tea habits are a culture in their own right.
