Gender reveal nonsense

This whole make a big thing with a gender reveal - glitter, balloons, cakes with coloured centres etc

Then the parents act all surprised 😱

Isn't the biggest 'gender reveal' just to wait until they are born???

This really flipping irritates me and it's so American.

Just watched the LaBrant Family gender reveal (it came up on my timeline..why do I click on things that irritate me 😂) Boy it made my teeth itch!!

Aibu 🙄😂 anyone with me? Don't even get me started on baby showers....

I find it a tad OTT

A friend of a friend had a pregnancy reveal party, then a gender reveal, a baby shower and we are awaiting the next awful 'party'... It's all so tacky...

I can see why people want to find out the sex of their baby in advance if they can't cope with unknowns but I think that gender reveal parties perpetuate dangerous gender stereotypes. And as pps have said what are they actually celebrating? You'd be happy either way wouldn't you?

Also think baby showers are horribly sexist. Why aren't men allowed to go?

Telling people - cool

Throwing a party that seems to pinkify or bluify a poor baby before it's even born to promote same old boring and limiting stereotypes - not cool and who cares
