Simon Mayo is leaving radio 2. AIBU to think he's been pushed out?

Many people protested against Jo Whiley joining the show but obviously the BBC don't care what we think 🤬

I’m sure the Jeremy vine gags on the Steve wright show are an impersonator, not actually Jeremy vine!

It's not just the title though is it, it's the sentiment itself. You also jumped to the same conclusion I believe

I loathe that Jeremy Vine impersonator. That's the thing with Steve Wright. He takes one mildly funny gag and runs it into the ground until you can't beat to hear it any more. I listened to Simon Mayo on Radio . I remember he took a really long paternity leave when his daughter was born. She's older now than I was when I was listening to him! I didn't really mind the new show as much as I thought I would. I didn't love Jo even in her old slot.

Jeremy Vine has to go surely. He makes my skin crawl! Get Vanessa Feltz in that spot. Far more intelligent , sensitive and articulate.

And there's nothing wrong with Steve Wright either, despite the fact that he's been doing that show for about 30 years! Leave well alone ffs!

Just for the record, Ken Bruce is excellent and Jeremy Vine is good too!

I'm pleased to see Jo shuffle later as I liked her previous show which suited her style much better than Drivetime, and is more mellow for a later time slot.

I am nervous about Zoe taking over from Chris as I find her too gabbly and breathy. She's not easy to follow and can be quite mundane. I'm glad she no longer covers Ken Bruce (Like Mark Goodier and Trevor Nelson... wonder if either of them might get Drive Time...)

I like Sara's late time slot. I find it suits her better than covering for the breakfast show.

Vanessa Feltz is unbareable doing Jeremy Vine. She gets emotionally overinvested and gabbles over guest speakers and can be quite biased.

While I'm on a general venting about the state of Radio 2, I'm finding too much awful current music being played, lots of monotonous whining. It feels like one song being played at least 4 times an hour because there's a few artists incoherently wailing away in the same style and they're indistinguishable from each other. I'm only 38 (but a veteran listener). I've no issue with new material, but please, some kinds of tunes, melodies and harmony wouldn't go amiss. There must be plenty of aspiring muscians out there that are better suited to the typical Radio 2 audience.

EEsh, cant believe people like Liza Tarbucks show, its absolute dirge. It seems to be on every time we sit down for tea on a saturday.

Yes, they do that, put the same show on each week at the same time. Spooky!

I genuinely think Steve Wright is the Al Capone of shite radio because he happenned to keep a diary of what went on in the BBC in the 80s, or has connections to Putin or something.
