to suddenly be scared to give birth now my contractions have started?

I'm 38 weeks pregnant and have recently started having what I think are pre-labour contractions. They're a lot more painful than I thought they would be and I'm now dreading active labour. I've always weirdly looked forward to childbirth but now I'm starting to experience it, I feel a bit freaked.

Sorry for posting in AIBU. I know I'm not BU, but was wondering if anyone else experienced the same? A pre-labour freakout?

All of a sudden very scared about the pain and how I'll get through it...

I remember very clearly looking at my husband, bursting into tears and saying “I’ve changed my mind I don’t want to do this anymore!” I was walking to the car to drive to the hospital.

My mother spoke about how horrible childbirth was so I too was petrified.Its painful of course it is but the time soon goes.Its nit an illness its a wonderful journey with a prize better than any you can imagine.You will be scared ,its new to you so only natural but this will pass and then you will have your beautiful baby.

I have 4DC and the 2/3/4 babies, as soon as I started contracting I was like why the fuck am I doing this again

I wasn’t worried at all but i had an awful labour and birth, which i won’t go into!

I really hope yours goes well just remember it doesn’t last forever x
