Where in Spain would you visit if a lone couple?

What parts of Spain would you visit next summer if you had the choice?

With no kids.

Best value/deal if possible for two weeks if you have any recommendations?

Want a place which is busy enough but not too touristy/tacky. Plenty of places to eat/ visit during the day like excursions etc.

I presume you want a beach type place? Nerja.

Bimgy85 · 21/10/2018 20:04

Yes I do. I mean I don't love the beach but it's nice to have it close if I do wanna visit. It's hard to pinpoint exactly where I want, somewhere busy and beautiful yet not ruined by commercialism

We like the Costa Maresme. It's just north of Barcelona so you have that as an option for day trips etc on public transport (about an hour and 5 euro on the train) It's just south of the Costa Brava resorts (Lloret, Tossa etc) so you have them as an option of you fancy a day of more tacky/touristy stuff. If you have a hire car you're within easy reach of Andorra and the Pyrenees.

There are miles of golden beaches, towns of varying size and interest, loads to explore. We normally stay in Calella but Santa Susanna is nice too, as are Arenys, Sant Andreu and Mataro.

San Sebastien, Bilbao, Santiago deCompostela. You could stop at Guernica, go to the beaches, interesting cities/towns, lovely food (the tiny tapas, which I can’t remember the name of!), delicious cheap light white wine....
It can be super windy, and you will need a car, but we had a fab 10 days doing rhat route. You could even fly into Biarritz and do that wee bit of the south of France Atlantic coast.

Beebumble2 · 21/10/2018 20:32

Jerez, Seville and then finish on the Costa de la Luz for some chill time

DarthLipgloss · 21/10/2018 22:00

Altea, or Nerja

DioneTheDiabolist · 21/10/2018 22:01

Galicia. Beautiful beaches, historic Roman, Celtic and Spanish cities and towns. Loads of interesting churches and other buildings. The food is amazing and the people lovely.

Bring a phrasebook though as English is not as widely spoken as in other parts of Spain.

MissClareRemembers · 21/10/2018 22:02

Grenada.

Topseyt · 21/10/2018 22:02

Mojacar, on the Costa Almeria.

JosellaPlayton · 21/10/2018 22:03

I’d go to San Sebastián and do nothing but eat and drink!
