To think this racist should have been kicked off this RyanAir flight?

I’m not going to repeat the language this passenger used here, but basically he refused to sit next to a black passenger resulting in her being moved and staff asking the man if he was OK once she was moved.

RyanAir have released a terse statement saying it’s been referred to Essex Police

I really do hope he is charged, but RyanAir should have had police waiting for him when they landed. Guarantee they only contacted Essex Police after the video went viral.

Though I can't hear exactly what the steward is saying to racist man after the lady moves, I get the impression that he was telling racist man to calm down and that led to the "I'm alright now" response.

Where would they have put him if they had moved him rather than her? (other than off the flight, obviously).
Who would want to be seated next to that charmer after that vile outburst?

SchadenfreudeUndeadified · 21/10/2018 12:29

WTF, Ryanair!
They should have ordered him off the plane.

This x 1,000

I wish she had refused to move (probably too embarrassed), and that everybody else had refused to sit next to a racist arsehole!

SilentIsla · 21/10/2018 12:30

He was the obnoxious perpetrator. He should have been thrown off and the airline should have refused to accommodate him on ANY of their flights. This is not looking good for Ryanair.

SausageOnAFork · 21/10/2018 12:39

I hope they moved her to a better class of seat.

Maelstrop · 21/10/2018 12:40

Yes, he should have been moved, but I very much doubt he would have gone easily unless police had been called (which should have happened) Much easier to move the lady to hopefully somewhere near her daughter. I don’t understand why her daughter wasn’t sitting with her given no seats tend to be allocated on Ryanair.

Wingedharpy · 21/10/2018 12:47

No class on Ryanair SausageOnAFork!

pippitysqueakity · 21/10/2018 12:50

Just when you think humanity cannot surprise you any more...always new depths to be plumbed.

GabsAlot · 21/10/2018 12:50

there is no better class unles she got a row to herself

waxy1 · 21/10/2018 12:50

I’m sympathetic to people who didn’t step in. There are good reasons not to join in a disturbance on a plane.

TeflonSkin · 21/10/2018 12:53

You can be sure that this has been a traumatic experience for the elderly woman. She is 77 years old and lost her husband a year ago. I think it will take a long time for her to recover from this horrible incident. She couldn't even just leave to get away from the man, she arthritis and she was booked o a flight.

She was verbally assaulted and Ryanair stood by whilst she was attacked because of her race. Not a smart move RA. I think she should sue the airline. What are the chnances RA pays out?

IStandWithPosie · 21/10/2018 12:56

In the article, it says she asked to be moved.

Yes because he threatened to push her off her seat! Of course she asked to Be move when threatened with violence.

RangeRider · 21/10/2018 12:59

Removing the man from the plane, ‘throwing him off’ would have entailed calling for security, then getting the man’s baggage removed from the hold, and almost certainly losing the departure slot, potentially causing hours of delay for all passengers including those on the flights that that plane was due to make for the rest of the day.
This ^^. It is nowhere near as easy as just grabbing him & turfing him out of the nearest exit (unfortunately). And it would be a huge security risk to kick him off and leave his bags on board.
But I'm also appalled by the poster on here who said I also suspect that this man may not be NT. - what, so only autistic people can be racist assholes?!!!! Angry That's bloody appalling.

ManicUnicorn · 21/10/2018 13:01

I'm not usually a fan of social media shaming but this man needs naming and shaming and deserves have his life ruined IMO. Horrible cunt.

nakedscientist · 21/10/2018 13:03

I hope they moved her to a better class of seat

I don't think they have a better class of seat on Ryan Air. It's a shame they didn't have a better class of passenger than this man. What an awful thing to happen.

Shame on him, he should be banned from flying for life.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 21/10/2018 13:06

Holy shit, can't believe that.
Thank goodness one young man had the decency to step in, everyone else should be ashamed of themselves.

MrsJonSno · 21/10/2018 13:06

To be fair to the cabin crew it appears whilst they heard him being rude they don’t appear to hear his racist comment. The lady asked to move and they moved her. There was no need to move him as well after she had moved away and he shut up. I don’t think that one staff member did anything wrong based on what he saw and heard at then time.

Roussette · 21/10/2018 13:15

I'm sorry but I don't agree. We were diverted and had a 4 hour delay because of that.... all because a diabetic man hadn't eaten all day (but he was drinking) so he fainted. He was fine after about half an hour but they insisted on flying on to the different airport. He didn't want to get off but was made to.

If they can divert for that, they can throw off an abusive racist bigot. The plane hadn't even left!

VenusInSpurs · 21/10/2018 13:15

“In the article, it says she asked to be moved.”

AFTER the man had had several nasty rants, and the cabin staff had said ‘we need to move this lady ‘ she is heard saying she would like to sit with her daughter.

So, only in that way did she ‘ask to be moved’

Roussette · 21/10/2018 13:17

I'm just appalled no one else stood up for her. There is no excuse. If you all stand together on something so awful, the cabin staff are not going to throw you all off. There is no excuse.

VenusInSpurs · 21/10/2018 13:18

Rousette: in that case they would have been worried about liability for his health.

In an ideal world he SHOULD have been thrown off, or, moved to another seat, and arrested on arrival.

IndigoSpritz · 21/10/2018 13:18

Had the racist individual been removed from the aircraft then so would his luggage and other personal belongings, before departure.

BTW, what does NT stand for ?

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 21/10/2018 13:26

Neuro typical

booellesmum · 21/10/2018 13:27

NT = neurotypical

Roussette · 21/10/2018 13:27

Yes it was exactly that Venus. They diverted mid air and off he got.

It wouldn't have been that hard to throw this man off. Hold baggage is removed fairly quickly, even if he took is cabin baggage, every piece still has to be accounted for. Of course they would've lost their take off slot but so what....
With Ryanair it's obviously profit before people.
