To think this racist should have been kicked off this RyanAir flight?

I’m not going to repeat the language this passenger used here, but basically he refused to sit next to a black passenger resulting in her being moved and staff asking the man if he was OK once she was moved.

RyanAir have released a terse statement saying it’s been referred to Essex Police

In defence of the guy sitting directly behind the old man, he looks to be of possibly Chinese/Korean heritage? So could have faced a similar racist attack if he intervened.....

OhDearGodLookAtThisMess · 22/10/2018 15:47

Ffs, what is the matter with people's comprehension skills on this thread?
No one is blaming this man's bad behaviour on not being NT. It has been wondered about once or twice as an aside, because of the manner of his presentation, not the content of what he said, which, ONCE AGAIN, was fucking vile.

SilentIsla · 22/10/2018 15:54

The man was acting like a loon.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 22/10/2018 16:35

That woman will not have to pay lawyers fees! Not after this

I'd hope not; perhaps if the lady wanted to bring a civil suit some lawyer would offer a no-win-no-fee if they considered this watertight?

But it would still come down to whether she wanted this. However horrible the circumstances it's not for others to tell her what to do and maybe she'd prefer to put it behind her, viewing him as just one more unpleasant tosser - which he certainly is

OhDearGodLookAtThisMess · 22/10/2018 17:27

Graphista: "I agree re the apologists"

Who are you referring to? Who has defended what he said?

eightoclock · 22/10/2018 17:36

Horrible situation but... is it a crime to use racist language?

Oscarsdaddy · 22/10/2018 17:53

This so badly pissed be off

If it had been a young lad,few too many drinks and had told one of the flight attendants she had nice tits he’d have been thrown off

Sends out all the wrong signals but knowing how tight Ryanair are you’ll find he probably paid s surcharge to hurl racist abuse at other passengers

The above gap is me being speechless. Plus not printing rude words.
He should have been taken off the plane!

Oh and you can unload people from a plane and leave their loaded baggage on it. I once volunteered to give up my seat just as I was about to enter the plane because the poor girl from the airline (SAS) was crying because a business man was giving her such hell for being "bumped" because they had had to send a smaller plane. I got an extra night with food in Oslo, a flight into London City airport (great!) and my suitcase was couriered to my house! - I just had to fill out a luggage missing form at LCA. They also gave me tons of money to spend on tickets or not so much in cash.

Ellyess · 22/10/2018 18:29

eightoclock is it a crime to use racist language?

I think it is. In the UK.

I still want to say HE should have been thrown off.

MsLexic · 22/10/2018 18:33

I cannot work out how the incident started... did the lady sit down and then the man started abusing her? Or was there a lead up? It's a very ugly tirade indeed.
He sounds drunk to me. Bastard.

Ellyess · 22/10/2018 18:35

OK the plane was about to leave.... So, I still don't get it. Why did the lady move? Did you say she is disabled? I am too and I've been put in every seat imaginable!

Did they tell him it would be referred to the Police upon landing?

Dandeliontea123 · 22/10/2018 18:36

I don’t understand why he was just allowed by the staff to sit there and abuse her while she was the one who had to move. Appalling customer service.

Nothing was done and it worries me that this incident will now give a green light to other racist idiots who decide that it’s ok for them to kick off on Ryanair as well.

Good for the sensible young man behind him who stepped in.

shearwater · 22/10/2018 18:40

Black Bitch is very specific. Does Dementia mean you start saying things you’d never say before in your life?

Yes it does.

Ellyess · 22/10/2018 18:43

AAAAggghhh I've just seen the video - thanks WickedGoodDoge

What a vile and loathsome man! He clearly is not the most highly educated, but there is no excuse whatsoever. I wish he could be arrested, locked up, banned from ever flying again and his face put round his home town on Posters telling people what a despicable lout he is. Still, he will probably remain a poster-boy for Ryanair.

Middersweekly · 22/10/2018 18:44

I saw this posted yesterday on FB. Yes totally agree. Disgusting behaviour and if I was cabin crew I would have removed him from the plane. I can’t believe they moved the woman instead. Poor woman should not have needed to move because a racist is shouting derogatory things at her! Totally unacceptable IMO!

Annie8294 · 22/10/2018 18:57

The crew can decide to remove someone from a flight . This happened during boarding. This is a clear case , this man should have been removed from the flight and handed over to security and the police called . It is completely disgraceful that he was allowed to travel as he posed a risk to that poor lady and the rest of the passengers . The Air Navigation order which covers disruptive behaviour is clear that he was committing a criminal offence and should not have been allowed to travel .

nannykatherine · 22/10/2018 19:06

do people actually fly with Ryanair 😧

GoatWithACoat · 22/10/2018 19:15

I would rather eat my own toe than fly with Ryanair.

OhDearGodLookAtThisMess · 22/10/2018 19:15

do people actually fly with Ryanair

Hmm Well, clearly they do!

OhDearGodLookAtThisMess · 22/10/2018 19:17

I suspect that the woman was moved for her own safety, protection and comfort.

Gbtch · 22/10/2018 19:21

He should've been asked to the front of the plane to discuss his complaint rather than adding to that poor woman's embarrassment.
Also much easier to escort him off the plane from there when the dim cabin Crewe eventually realise he is racist scum.
The woman who suffered the abuse should be compensated by Ryan air.- a nice holiday for her and a friend.
Disgraceful!

inashizzle · 22/10/2018 19:30

She was crying in a interview today. She feels depressed and can't eat due to the stress. Just want to hug her and hope the world tells her how brave she was enduring him. Whether he has mental illness or not, he is clearly a vile ugly bully and a disgrace and not a representative of our country. He should be charged but the problem is where. Ryanair should have booted him off and refused him any future flight.

SuzieCath · 22/10/2018 20:13

Hearing his more and more, not only on airlines but in society as a whole. Where I am from statistics show that hate crime, particularly racist and misogynistic crime have gone up 20% since Brexit and I am of the view that it will only get worse. I have first hand experience of this being married to a Black british born Jamican and have 2 mixed race children. Whilst the football was on during the summer I was abused whilst walking down the street with my children and called the most horrible name, was told I was a traitor and should take 'my monkeys' back to where they belong. These people do not deserve to breath the same air. They are ignorant and bring nothing valuable to society. It makes my blood boil that they are always protected and people are scared to stand up to them. I wish just for one day the tables were turned, they would not be able to stand the suffering and persecution that they would experience, and that would be just one day try 400 year! Disgusting.

busyhonestchildcarer · 22/10/2018 20:32

The stupid ignorant man now is very recognisable and im sure though he wasnt dealt with properly he wont be able to hide now

smilingontheinside · 22/10/2018 21:27

I hope they upgraded her and her wad in the cheap seats! People moan about ryanair but I have flown with them several times a year and some of the shit the stewards deal with would have me throwing people off the plane if I was them. One woman was so rude over her change (few cents) and was so rude to the stewards I think she should have been fined it was embarrassing Hmm
