Just for fun!
Everyone looks back at things they used to wear or trends they followed and cringes! I'd like to start off by sharing my fashion disasters and would love to hear everyone else's!

1990s - velvet flares, blue patent platform mules, a lime green spice girls t shirt and crimped hair. I'm sure I'm not the only one!

Goth phase - long black velvet dresses, stripy socks, then the cyber goth outfits with plastic dreadlocks, goggles and platform bootsConfused

The white on top and black underneath over straightened hairstyle - looked like a seagull had pooped on my head

Early 2000s - wearing a dress over trousers, with pointy boots.

But I think the most embarrassing was the pink juicy couture style tracksuit with sparkly writing. I'm cringing just thinking about it.

I think I need to consult a stylist!

I once shaved my eyebrows off, completely, I must revisit that look sometime!

MarmaLaid · 20/10/2018 19:13

This might be outing to anyone who saw me 25 years ago as I’m sure now that I was the only one in the world who wore orange tartan trousers with an orange shirt and platform shoes Grin

CigarsofthePharoahs · 20/10/2018 19:14

The 80s jeans that showed ankle.
Massive flares in the 90's and baggy baggy combats with a tight belly top.
Also the 90's - a pretty dress and massive ugly trainers. Sheesh.

PrincessDando · 20/10/2018 19:14

Those really low cut jeans they had in the early 00s where you could see peoples ass cracks when they sat down.

I was glad when high rise came back

HoraceWimpIsThisYourLife · 20/10/2018 19:17

God so many. My mum was problematic and let me wear whatever. I remember wearing a fish net vest with bright pink bra very clearly on show at 12 years old. I wore it with a knee length Burberry pattern skirt to add a bit of class Blush

doodlejump1980 · 20/10/2018 19:21

Omg, the black and purple velvet jesters Jamiroquai hat. With foam platform shoes, silver miniskirt and black velvet jacket. Oh not to forget the blue mascara. 🤦🏻‍♀️

StephenFrysMassiveBrain · 20/10/2018 19:26

Oooh... Those dungarees circa 1984 with a straw boater and plimsolls.... Ouch! Must've loved Dexy's Midnight Runners!

Jezzifishie · 20/10/2018 19:27

I remember handing my yearbook photo in at the end of year 11, it's a pic of me scowling at the camera while wearing black makeup, a spiky dog collar and my hair in liberty spikes. My head of year said I'd regret the photo one day - 14 years later and I still don't! I think I looked awesome Grin (I do regret using cheap and nasty hair wax though, took me two hours to wash out)

Bracknellite · 20/10/2018 19:30

1986 VW badge on a chain. Loved it at the time but WTF did I look like?

Blankscreen · 20/10/2018 20:50

Circa 1996

Anything from morgan.

I had a black dress with white trim Ms big white buttons down it and a matching blazer.

I had a pink checked baby doll dress.

Unused to wear cream T bar mary Jane shoes.

Wtf was I thinking

Blankscreen · 20/10/2018 20:51

Used to wear not unused

Grumpbum123 · 20/10/2018 20:57

My tartan Rupert bear trousers worn with purple DMs and a linen grandad shirt in the early 90s

beelover · 20/10/2018 20:59

I was a teenager in the 70's, where do I start Grin

SomewhatControlledChaos · 20/10/2018 21:03

On my first day at secondary school I thought I'd try make up.

I did not understand make up. I got a 'face powder', dusted generously all over my face, got to school. What I was wearing was in fact shiny purplish highlighter.

Candlelights2345 · 20/10/2018 21:04

Bright blue shiny turquoise shell suit with neon stripes down the shoulders and pants. Worn with a joe bloggs t shirt circa 1989.
I lived i Manchester, not sure if joe bloggs was popular outside of Manchester?

Amanduh · 20/10/2018 21:24

During uni days about 10-12 years ago we all wore various cami tops or other tops with shorts. But they were like tailored, smart work trouser material but in shorts. Black tailored shorts. Why?

chocolatebox1 · 20/10/2018 21:35

I remember the tailored shorts! I think I may have worn a pair....What was the point?!
I also remember whole families wearing matching brightly coloured shell suits in the 80s

goingonabearhunt1 · 20/10/2018 21:37

Late 90s: embroidered flared jeans and various tie dye monstrosities from Tammy
Early 2000s: Flared corduroy trousers in crazy colours with tank tops, stupid big shoes, bad eye make-up

ANellRetentive · 20/10/2018 21:39

City shorts they called them, saw them everywhere for a couple of years

goingonabearhunt1 · 20/10/2018 21:39

chocolate and amanduh that's reminded me of the shorts over rights look in the mid 2000s Grin

goingonabearhunt1 · 20/10/2018 21:41

Oooh and before that I also remember a brief kitten heel phase along with velour and tiny skirts (basically like the clothes they wear in Mean Girls)

Jozen · 20/10/2018 21:45

I have a photo of me in 92 wearing a flowery dress with walking socks and hiking boots.
I'm not sure what was going on but I'm getting out of the driver seat of the car so I must of been sober.

OneStepSideways · 20/10/2018 21:50

Those enormous clown like flares that dragged on the ground collecting dirt! And rode down to show your thong.

Funny how it's changed... when I was a teenager in the 90s it was very uncool to wear skinny leg high waisted trousers!

chocolatebox1 · 20/10/2018 21:50

I just remembered - even worse was when I was about 8 and I liked to wear floral cycling shorts over black tights. Blush
Tammy was my favourite shop in the 90s, along with Claire's Accessories who made a real mess of piercing my ears!

OP posts:
MsNowtyBach · 20/10/2018 22:15

Where to start?!

I'd have to say wearing nude tights throughout the nineties and noughties when my legs were pale, but as good as they were ever going to get!
