To look at that woman who is going out with Katie Piper’s attacker and think WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU???

Story today in a few of the papers that the man who acid attacked Katie Piper has been released straight into the arms of his new woman who has been merrily instagramming his first weekend of release holed up in a ‘luxury hotel’ complete with the obligatory doggy eared snapchat with ‘LOVE’ written across the bottom of it.

Leaving aside that she is a mother and associating with a violent ex con is going to go down like cold sick with SS, why do some women do this? I just can’t imagine looking at those awful injuries Katie Piper has and thinking ‘yep’, he’s the man for me, the feller that did that!

Do they think they’ve fixed them or they’ve changed or do they believe it was the victims fault? It’s crap that we have Clare’s Law now but some women are going to fall victim to repeat offenders because they know, they just plain don’t care.

Where are we going wrong? Why is the message about how dangerous this is and how awful domestic violence is not getting through to some women? Do we need to have more intervention in schools? Survivors going out to explain what their experiences were really like? Or is it a self esteem issue? Or are some people just plain stupid?

It’s depressed me a lot this afternoon. Stupid, stupid woman.

I know lovely, clever, funny women who are single...and violent offenders and prisoners get women throwing themselves at them. Unbelievable.

FekkoTheLawyer · 16/10/2018 17:23

You don't rest get it the other way around do you? I can't see rose West getting fan mail.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 16/10/2018 17:28

He was a kid when he was paid, came from a very troubled background, it’s possible he has found himself in jail and become a better man. Either way what happened was not his wife’s fault and the judging wankery here is a bit much

What the fuck? Not his wife's fault? Are you her?

I can't get my head round your comment at all.

Pearl87 · 16/10/2018 17:33

the judging wankery here is a bit much

I can't understand why judging is seen as such a bad thing these days. No, you shouldn't judge people for things like their fashion sense or whether they've had children by different fathers or whatever, but there's nothing wrong with judging someone for harming another person. Anyway, if judging people is so wrong, how can you judge people for judging? (Wow, that's a confusing sentence!)

Pearl87 · 16/10/2018 17:36

I think the women who are attracted to this type of man like to think that he's completely dependent on her. "The rest of society won't give him the time of day, but I understand him, I'm not like all the others..."

Gingerrogered · 16/10/2018 17:37

Because all violent abusive men are single aren't they?

But that’s the ideal isn’t it? That’s what we should be aiming for rather than just saying it’s inevitable because men are just too clever for us poor ickle wimmin?

I know it will never go down to zero but it seems that a lot of women are accepting of the narrative that this time it will be different or his ex was such a cow she drove him to it or that he’s just a dangerous sexy bad boy. There must be something that can be done, educating girls at school about how much higher the chances they will do it again are when they’ve done it once. Shrugging our shoulders seems a bit of a pathetic response.

no abuser ever manages to reel in a victim slowly and over time

Hmm. I sort of lose a bit of sympathy with this because it’s so high profile and she will have seen exactly what he did when other men might be more able to pull the wool over his eyes. This again brings us back to women who won’t believe it’s going to happen to them or don’t understand the odds with a repeat offender. Surely we should be at least trying to make women more aware? Besides anything else he was in prison until Friday so it’s not like she couldn’t get away from him!

No one here knows what has gone on, what this man has said to his new partner or what her own history or vulnerabilities might be.

Even if you take that to the very extreme and say even in cases like this, where it’s so public and so well known; that if something bad befalls them in has nothing to do with their own stupidity or rashness or silliness. Even if you go to that length, as soon as they’re a mother that becomes entirely irrelevant because it’s not a matter of their own silliness putting there own adult self in danger. If they’re not keeping their kids safe from dangerous people, they’ll have them taken away. Nobody will sit patting their hand saying there, there we’ll ignore it because we feel sorry for you’.

Maybe Pearl or they have that little self esteem and self respect that they will put up with anyone who will have them.

Gingerrogered · 16/10/2018 17:38

You don't rest get it the other way around do you? I can't see rose West getting fan mail.

She did you know, she nearly married the drummer from Slade! They were pen pals.

Gingerrogered · 16/10/2018 17:39

But Rose West really is never being released.

I didn't think Charles Bronson was either.

Growingboys · 16/10/2018 17:40

YANBU. He is scum and that woman is mad/desperate/heartless to have married him.

Odd 'marriage' though - I read she married a mate of his who stood in for him as he was banged up. Maybe it's an Islamic thing?

Appalling man and I very much hope he gets thrown back behind bars ASAP.

NitroJenny · 16/10/2018 17:40

How long before she starts selling stories to the Daily Fail about her wonderful married life?

FekkoTheLawyer · 16/10/2018 17:41

Woah nelly, back up there - the drummer from slade? Was he... 'all there' in the faculty department?

RonniePickering · 16/10/2018 17:48

Yeah, I'm wankery judging. What the fuck is wrong with her indeed?

PyongyangKipperbang · 16/10/2018 17:50

Regarding the accusations of judgyness I refer you to the wise words of Granny Weatherwax

“A bit judgmental, my grandmother.”

“Nothing wrong with that. Judging is human.”

“We prefer to leave it ultimately to Om,” said Oats, and, out here in the dark, that statement seemed lost and alone.

“Bein’ human means judgin’ all the time,” said the voice behind him. “This and that, good and bad, making choices every day … that’s human.”

“And are you so sure you make the right decisions?”

“No. But I do the best I can.”

“And hope for mercy, eh?”

The bony finger prodded him in the back.

“Mercy’s a fine thing, but judgin’ comes first. Otherwise you don’t know what you’re bein’ merciful about."

ilovemyteddy · 16/10/2018 17:52

It wasn't the drummer from Slade, it was a guitarist from Slade II, not the original band.

Just wanted to clear that up because I had a soft spot for Don Powell (the drummer) when I was a teenager!

dworky · 16/10/2018 17:52

Stop blaming women for male violence.

Pearl87 · 16/10/2018 17:55

That's almost certainly part of it too, Cookery.

purplecraze · 16/10/2018 17:55

Either way what happened was not his wife’s fault and the judging wankery here is a bit much.
Good job you weren’t on the jury that convicted him,, amongst all that judge and jury wankery.

TwistedStitch · 16/10/2018 17:56

Not a single person has blamed her for his act. They can blame her for being a shit parent and an appalling person for her own actions though, which include posing all over social media with a man who weeks ago Katie Piper was fearfully begging the parole board not to release. How about they at least have the basic decency keep a low profile?

BoreOfWhabylon · 16/10/2018 17:59

It was the bass player* - Dave Glover. It got him sacked from the band.

*Not one of the original band

Santaclarita · 16/10/2018 18:09

She probably just wants on I'm a celeb or big brother.

Belindabauer · 16/10/2018 18:10

I don't think you could call the trash who paid the man to do this Katie's ex. She had only known him a very short time, about 2 weeks, when he raped and attacked her. He then paid this scumbag to throw acid in her face.

Both sick individuals.

MorrisZapp · 16/10/2018 18:35

Slade! Jfc!

FekkoTheLawyer · 16/10/2018 18:39

(Not slade) phew
