To wonder how the actual fuck to stop my son?!

My 11 month old (the size of a tiny 6 month old), has just climbed out of his cot and fallen!

What am I suppose to do?! He doesn't usually go in there, only with a few toys whilst I get some bits done upstairs. We co-sleep at night, thank goodness.

What am I suppose to do now? We were thinking of a transition to his cot after age 1 but not sure now 

He's screamed but he seems fine, just pissed off as usual to be anywhere but joint at the hip with me.

Scary stuff. How am I suppose to stop him?

We ridiculously baby proofed dd’s bedroom. No furniture. Mattress on the floor. A few safe toys in the corner. Everything else in

Stupid phone...

In the closet or another room. Then put a gate on the bedroom door.

There is no bar setting. It's just the one height, of which the little devil looks like he can just about reach anyway 

Not sure how he's done it to be honest. I'm a bit spooked.

Low toddler bed for when he stops co sleeping. And a playpen for when you need somewhere safe to put him for a few minutes in the day.

Yeah, if he’s a bit of a Houdini baby you might need to do as pp said; mattress on floor and not a lot else in there, plus a baby gate on the door.

We had a climber. Ended up making a "nest" in a playpen. It's about a stressful a thing as can be :-(

You need to get a crib tent. Problem solved. I had to get one for my daughter because she was escaping by the time she was 8 months. Like a damn magician.

It's really awful 

I want to know how he's done it though. He has to stretch somewhat so his chin reached the top of the cot. How has he climbed over if he can barely reach that?

I can't even lift my leg over a gate

I know how you feel, one of mine was like this. He moved to a bed once he could climb out so no useful suggestions from me just sympathy.

I know a toddler who can open stair gates. It’s the stuff of nightmares! Reminds me of Jurassic Park when they’re hiding in the kitchen from the velociraptors. You think, “at least they can’t open doors” then Shock.

I don’t know how they do it. Some babies are just escapologists. My dd managed to get out of her car seat once. It was awful. Had to strap her in so tight after that.

I've seen videos of babies wriggling out of the bottom of cots under the mattress - I don't suppose there's any chance he's managed to do that? Or did you hear the crash?

I thought most cots had several settings for the base? Mine did. Is the base set at the lowest possible level?

If it is and he can still climb out then a toddler bed (without a pillow) or just the cot mattress down on the floor might be the safest options.

I also used to have a stair gate across the kids' bedroom doors when they were toddlers. Only my DD3 was a serious climber though, but fortunately she never got herself out of the cot.

It hasn't got multiple base options for sure. The bar is on level with the top of the cot, if that makes sense.

I definitely heard a crash

Put him in a sleep sack so he can't swing his legs over. We moved Ds to a bed ASAP as he was a climber and it was too hot for a sleep sack. I childproofed the room and put a gate across the door, I'd picked him up off the floor while he was asleep and put him back into the bed a couple of times each night. He eventually figured iut to stay put.

I'd definitely google and check your cot. What cot is it? I've never heard of a cot only having 1 high setting.

Mine isn't obvious, i have to take the side off, lower some screws, then pit the base back on in new position, and put the side back on

Ha mine were like that too! Could even get out of deep travel playpen.

We ended up with a mattress on the floor barricaded by furniture...

I have had three cots which only had one height setting. They do exist, in fact fairly common! I don’t think the OP said that one level was high? She said if the baby stretched his chin was level with the top of the cot.

My DS could climb out of his cot while wearing a grobag.

We moved him to a bed with a double stair gate on his bedroom door, it was safer.

Is he barefoot? My DD used to pull socks off then somehow held onto the bar for grim death then almost walk her feet up the end until she could flip them over the bar.
In a baby grow she couldn’t do it.

Would it be an option to ditch the cot and just put the matress on the floor?

He has possibly just pulled himself up, they are surprisingly strong. Was there any toys or cushions in there he could have stepped on to give him an extra few inches?
