To have thought I was the only OW...

We first met on my drive about 4 months ago. He came straight over to me as soon as he saw me. As he came over it was almost as if he was excited, which was weird because we had never met before. I thought he looked absolutely lovely. Beautiful black hair. Little bit of white going through it that I thought was really charming.

I fed him a little bit of tuna, and after that he wouldn't leave me alone! I have to admit, I loved the attention as my own cat had died a few months prior. I knew he had an owner, because he had a collar. But I just carried on feeding him because he was such a lovely little kitty! He even stopped over a few nights when my DH was away - nooooo way would DH let me have a random cat in the house!

I knew who his owner was as I saw him being let in a few times. Then one day, I noticed him being let into our next door neighbours!!! I couldn't believe it!!! I thought i was his second home!!! Turns out I was just one of many. He's being fed by multiple women on our street!!! In fact, his owner has had to stop feeding him because of how much he's being fed by other people!!! (I spoke to on her drive this morning).

Feeling very betrayed. I will have to stop feeding him now. Fat shit.

Have you read Six Dinner Sid?

InfiniteVariety · 14/10/2018 12:15

And quite apart from the distress to him, his last stay in Kitty Hosptial cost me £800 so I really don't want it to happen again!

Juells · 14/10/2018 12:16

Cats have no loyalty. They're all bastards. Bastards, I tell you! 😁

lexi727 · 14/10/2018 12:16

@InfiniteVariety I have spoken to his owner don't worry - he's okay with tuna. After the first time I gave him some I went and checked with her because I was worried.

It's cruel to lock cats outside at night, especially (but not only) in the colder months. No wonder he is spreading his affections around! OP look up Obie on The Litter Tray. He has a number of wives (his choice) and I think Medusa is resigned to this.

Ta1kinpeace · 14/10/2018 12:18

Old cat was a food scrounger
One day a lady knocked on the door as she had been about to take the "poor starving kitty" to the vet
DH let her in to see him sprawled on the sofa
he looked VERY annoyed to have been busted

We ended up putting a label on his collar that said "greedy cat already been fed"
he removed the collar Grin

Oddcat · 14/10/2018 12:18

My cat is very much an outdoor cat - even when it’s snowing she insists on going out and sleeping under her favourite bush .

AuntBeastie · 14/10/2018 12:18

I would absolutely lose my shit at anyone who fed my cat. Sorry OP, I know it’s well meant! But it’s such a shitty thing to do.

Ta1kinpeace · 14/10/2018 12:20

And yes it is VERY bad form to feed another person's cat

At an old house our neighbour's cat would come in through the window and spend 90% of her time with us
We let her owners know she was safe but sent her home for food and vet bills
they had a VERY loud small child who she disliked

Alienspaceship · 14/10/2018 12:20

When my cat died, all these neighbours I had never met before came knocking to say how sorry they were and tell me stories about he used to sleep on their beds, enjoy being fed etc etc. I never knew and was gobsmacked Grin I thought it was lovely he was so sociable (and greedy).

Batteriesallgone · 14/10/2018 12:21

God I wish people would stop feeding other people’s pets.

And wild animals come to that.

It’s never a good idea. If they aren’t your responsibility don’t feed them. Period. And cuteness levels shouldn’t come into it FFS

Oysterbabe · 14/10/2018 12:21

Next door's cat sneaks in every chance he gets. They've just got a puppy and I think he prefers to take his chances with my overly-affectionate toddler. I don't feed him though.

placemats · 14/10/2018 12:23

Six Dinner Sid!

hibeat · 14/10/2018 12:24

I've laughed so hard, I had to share this with hubby who laughed too. You should write ! This is too much ! Sorry for the cat though.

Tistheseason17 · 14/10/2018 12:26

I actually loathe people who feed other people's cared for cats, or keep them in at night.

It really upset my mum and I can see it upsets other people. A lady on FB was dreadfully upset as someone "helpfully" locked her cat in their house at night. She thought the tabby had been hurt as had not come home.

FFS - why don't you get your own cat instead of upsetting other owners???

Thinkingofausername1 · 14/10/2018 12:27

Ha ha. He's being a dick obviously. Block

MatildaTheCat · 14/10/2018 12:30

If you are even considering getting a new cat beware of territorial issues. Cat spraying is fairly horrid and Cat Cocklodger clearly has no morals. Wink

Monty27 · 14/10/2018 12:32

Cat stealer. Do you have any idea how the family will feel?
You wicked wicked person. Tut tut.
Can you feed my two moaning Minnie's as well? Grin

fifithefoof · 14/10/2018 12:35

I don't agree with feeding other animals usually but not letting him in at night is cruel so I'd go for it.

Maelstrop · 14/10/2018 12:38

Please don’t feed or let in other people’s cats. This really pisses me off. I spent 2 heartbreaking weeks looking for mine.

lexi727 · 14/10/2018 12:44

Come on everyone this is very lighthearted! I'm friends with his owner! She has 2 indoor cats who don't get on with him, that's why he spends a lot of his time outdoors. She knows he's being fed and housed by other people!
