Dd at activity party. Half the guests invited to sleepover at birthday girls after the party, much excited chat - in front of all the girls - about the fun they will have that evening. Half the guests not invited to this sleepover but collected by parents. Dd new to the friendship group in the b list. Inconsolable. She's normally a toughie.

Is this normal now? Seems fucking brutal to me.

Imagine actually doing it though. Sending half the kids packing to get their shoes etc while the other preferred friends stay and carry on the fun. You’d have to have a heart of stone to entertain the idea!

Ha yes notwithstanding not wanting to do it as upsets kids can't imagine putting myself through the "transition" of booting out half the confused and upset 9 year old guests whilst the a list carried on the party!

Dd confided today that it was actually birthday girl who pointedly talked about the exciting later plans in front of dd. Dd said the rest of the a list (dds close friends) looked awkward and didn't know what to say. We all agreed it was abit weird. My lovely sister had a similar thing at a hen night. A jealous weirdo organiser envious of my sisters friendship with the bride excluded my sister and 2 others from a pre booked meal even though the group had spent the day together. My sister said the excluded group were all late twenties at the time and felt abit sad about it!
