He seem like either he is really ill or he's pissed.

The just asked him if he's still celebrating his birthday (reference to him bein drunk)

OP posts:
marvellousnightforamooncup · 13/10/2018 09:59

I've been pissed and talked a lot of shit before. I've not been pissed while at work (excluding work knees up) or on telly. I judge him as having an alcohol problem and being cringful to watch because he was on telly and supposedly expected to be lucid. It was all a bit Oliver Reed on Aspel.

beanaseireann · 13/10/2018 10:05

The last time I saw him on a tv interview I thought he was drunk as well. May have been Graham Norton.
I do not waste my time watching people who are drunk on tv. It's cringe inducing ( and sad).
I'm surprised they ( drunk or drugged celebs) are allowed on tv. Surely someone in production calls it ???

pictish · 13/10/2018 10:29

Ollie Reed on Aspel was brilliant tv. He’s nuts!
What a dull gig it would be if everyone always toed the line.

Happygolucky75 · 13/10/2018 10:44

Yeah God how boring would life me if we all just judged each other.. A big boring greyness of normality. Normal is boring.

I think he took the term legless a bit too far when he heard about the last leg :) :) That bit about 'We will fight the motherf*ckers on the beaches' Hilarious!

Bestseller · 13/10/2018 11:33

I bet their viewing numbers went up once it started circulating on line

Rachel0Greep · 13/10/2018 11:38

I didn't see him on this programme but the last time he was on with Graham Norton, he seemed to be a bit drunk.

Lethaldrizzle · 13/10/2018 11:49

Still fancy him though

beanaseireann · 13/10/2018 11:54

I like him too but I hate the drunk Irishman stereotype.
I have ishoos - a close relation who drank too much. It made me sad growing up.

YouBetterWORK · 13/10/2018 11:56

It was a bit meh after a while, the whole show seemed to revolve around what was he going to say next.

That said, Bradley Walsh on Sunday Brunch, last year I think, was a hoot. He'd been out the night before, pulled an all nighter, was merry rather than slurry and shamelessly plugged his album and merch. Genuinely very witty.

Jlynhope · 13/10/2018 12:41

People who work with him always have nice things to say, and his interviews are always funny and lovely. I don't know why people are suggesting he's an alcoholic. There's a lot of projecting going on...

specialsubject · 13/10/2018 12:49

he rapidly became a drunken bore - because drunks are boring. Switched off, it wasn't funny it was just DULL.

the last leggers are getting as smug as the Have I got news team, sadly.

Happygolucky75 · 13/10/2018 13:03

I guess that it depends on your sense of humor.

Its kind of the IT crowd/Black books type. Seems like you either hated it or loved it type of reaction.

specialsubject · 13/10/2018 13:19

I normally enjoy the last leg except when they get too London-smug, but this bloke would have been paid to be interesting and humourous. He was just dull and rambling.

do they still do the 'dick of the week' award? easy choice...

Happygolucky75 · 13/10/2018 13:39

Yeah i would really put him up there with Cameron, Trump and Putin for the Dick award.

Honestly put things in perspective.

specialsubject · 13/10/2018 14:23

Ah, the ' drunk.is cool and funny' brigade. As seen in every town centre each weekend.

The guy was paid and turned up pissed. Useless saddo . Should have been dropped in the nearest gutter at the first ad break. Don't make excuses for dicks .

Riversleep · 13/10/2018 14:28

I think 'smug' is the definition of the Last Leg recently. You could tell with the gay bakery story they didn't know which way was more right on so didn't go anywhere.

Growingboys · 13/10/2018 14:46

Slightly off topic but I find Dawn his wife dreadfully smug and annoying.

MrsPeel · 13/10/2018 15:39

Quite a few posters being sniffy about other people "judging" when its "all a bit of fun" ...Lord knows I have partaken of strong drink and made an arse of myself in the past, but its not big and its not clever. If I want to hear a pisshead slurring and rambling incoherently I can go down the pub. I judge the people behind the scenes for letting him go on when he was evidently in no fit state.

beanaseireann · 13/10/2018 15:40

Dawn O' Porter
Pass the patronising the Irish vom bucket please.

EmperorTomatoRetchup · 13/10/2018 15:47

Very few drunks are entertaining, even Richard Burton who was one of the most erudite and intelligent men in the public eye came across as a self pitying inarticulate bore when interviewed drunk and Chris O'Dowd is no Richard Burton.

Happygolucky75 · 13/10/2018 16:11

Oh the meaness of you all... honestly.

They had advertised that he was to go on... what do you do? Sit on him, pin him down.. We are not saying that being drunk is cool. The vast majority of people, on twitter thought he was hilarious. You do not enjoy his type of humour fine.

Sad little mothers in your little mumsnet world, feeling smug pointing fingers at people.

Enjoy your little sad, controlled, lives. I am sure you are super interesting yourselves.

Lethaldrizzle · 13/10/2018 16:15

He is pretty talented too!

beanaseireann · 13/10/2018 16:36

Happygolucky
Is that you Dawn ?

KERALA1 · 13/10/2018 16:42

Wow that's rather aggressive happy you certainly don't suit your user name! Using mothers as a term of abuse is unpleasant and misogynistic.

I don't see not enjoying watching a drunk man slur his words as being smug. I like wine as much as the next person but he was paid to be chatty and entertaining and he couldn't be either because he chose to get pissed. Some of us found that cringey to watch. I am sure he is a perfectly nice person. Only seen him in Bridesmaids and thought he did that well.

KERALA1 · 13/10/2018 16:43
