He seem like either he is really ill or he's pissed.

The just asked him if he's still celebrating his birthday (reference to him bein drunk)

AgentRoss · 12/10/2018 23:28

In fact, they are encoueaging it.

KERALA1 · 12/10/2018 23:30

Really disrespectful if you think of all the aspiring actors / comedians who would kill to be as successful as him and he's acting as if doesn't give a stuff

Holdingonbarely · 12/10/2018 23:34

@KERALA1
Deary me!

EdWinchester · 12/10/2018 23:35

Watching it on +1.

Embarrassing.

YouTheCat · 12/10/2018 23:35

He's just had a birthday. He was probably a bit nervous so he had a drop too much in the green room. He wasn't obnoxious or anything. It's not like he's done an Oliver Reed or anything.

Happygolucky75 · 12/10/2018 23:39

I thought it was the funniest thing I have seen for a long time as the vast majority of people on twitter feel. Just because someone gets drunk does not mean they have an issue. Chris o' dowd is a fine actor and comedian and gent. Perhaps a little less of a judgemental tone would be kinder on this site. I am sure maybe you also, had a few too many at some stage of your lives.

DarkDarkNight · 12/10/2018 23:40

Just put it on +1, Jessica Hynes is pulling some faces there!

He’s like the drunkest bloke in the pub. His voice even sounds strange - he’s got a unique voice , but this is like a caricature of himself.

DarkDarkNight · 12/10/2018 23:41

I really like him and Richard Ayoade a lot.

Happygolucky75 · 12/10/2018 23:44

Why are your views here so different to everyone else. Honestly you really are so judgemental. It's so stuffy and boring. Yawn.

Graphista · 12/10/2018 23:47

HappyGoLucky - I've been drunk precisely twice in my life. The first time young and didn't know my limit, 2nd some dick thought it would be funny to Micky my drinks!

I've a family with several alcoholics in and I found it VERY uncomfortable viewing.

Riversleep · 12/10/2018 23:50

Not when I was at work happy go lucky

pastabest · 12/10/2018 23:53

Having seen him on a few things...

He is definitely drunk but I don't think he is as drunk as people think he is.

I think it is him playing up to his comedic persona too much because he is drunk

Happygolucky75 · 13/10/2018 00:01

Maybe ye just can't remember being drunk... There is a differance between recreational drinking and alcoholism. Lots of people have a couple of drinks every week and are perfectly happy individuals, are hilarious after a few drinks and then get back to their lives. It's very civilised to have wine with food if that's what your into.

FoundNeverland · 13/10/2018 00:02

I can't believe the scantimonous and judgemental nonsense on this thread. He clearly had a couple of drinks, he wasn't being abusive or offensive in any way. I also think Jessica had enjoyed the hospitality of the green room.

What did he do wrong for you all to judge him? Maybe slurring his words a bit? You know that some people can enjoy the odd occasion of drinking too much and not actually be an alcohol don't you?

I thought it was a fun episode. And Happy Birthday to Chris.

Lazypoolday · 13/10/2018 00:08

I agree with this. But...if you can't not get drunk before appearing on national television then there may be a problem. It is work for him after all, not very professional

Somerville · 13/10/2018 00:09

It's very civilised to have wine with food if that's what your into.

It's not, however, civilised to be drunk as a skunk at work, and that's the issue at hand.

He was truly dire tonight.

EdWinchester · 13/10/2018 00:10

In the same way I’d be a bit embarrassed if a friend got slurry shit-faced, I felt uncomfortable watching.

But then I think he’s a twat, pissed or not.

HildaZelda · 13/10/2018 00:11

He was the same when he appeared on Graham Norton show a while back.

Atchiclees · 13/10/2018 00:11

Did they try turning him off and on again?

Happygolucky75 · 13/10/2018 00:15

OK... Look at your comments versus most of twitter.. The vast majority loved him. His anecdotes were hilarious. Perhaps if ye could stop being so judgemental of what was a little slurring you might have enjoyed it. They probably noticed an hour before the show but then it's too late as they can't replace him. Look at it this way we will remember this episode. We will all be professional for long enough, life is short. Here, here happy birthday Chris.

Valanice1989 · 13/10/2018 00:18

I like him and hope he's okay. Normally if someone turns up to work drunk it means they have a pretty serious problem! But maybe it's a one-off.

Somerville · 13/10/2018 00:21

Happygolucky75

You his manager, wife or sister, love?

RitaMills · 13/10/2018 00:21

FoundNeverland Totally agree, I’m absolutely baffled at the responses of this thread, yeah he was shit faced but he was still pleasant enough and a happy drunk. Jessica lovely and I took her facial expressions and handing him the crackers etc in the humour it was intended. I don’t believe for a second she was uncomfortable or annoyed.

EdWinchester · 13/10/2018 00:22

Can’t see people on Twitter ‘loving’ him.

They are relishing the fact he’s made an arse of himself which is quite, quite different.

Elm24 · 13/10/2018 00:43

Why? He is a little tipsy, why be so harsh?
