Just looking at a recipe and someone has added the offending three words. AIBU?

OP posts:
dontticklethetoad · 12/10/2018 23:17

Serin TOOTHSOME

YOU FUCKING WHAT? NO. This makes me both uncomfortable and angry. No.

MadameFoner · 13/10/2018 00:14

God I thought it was just me with the N word (I can't even type it).
I also hate:
Little man
Choccie biccie
My world (often underneath pics of hubs on Facebook) . I'm a scouser so when I'm taking the piss in a txt to my friends I will type " she was with "her werld" 😂

alltoomuchrightnow · 13/10/2018 01:22

I have a FB friend who posts photos of her meal EVERY SINGLE DAY - 'Hubster made my noms, I'm so blessed' That one sentence contains three of my worst words.
Think I'm going to have to de friend.

Also a real life friend who is always 'reaching out'. I nearly got into a row with her about it (yeah I know, world problem!) and she said I was wrong and it was the correct 'lingo' these days. Not contacting , not getting in touch with, or asking, or phoning, etc, but reaching out. She also talks about sea level in her line of work (NB nothing marine whatsoever)

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 13/10/2018 02:10

Hubster made my noms

My God, that's bad.

EcruTable · 13/10/2018 03:13

A relative of my exH said “Nom Nom Nom” the first time I tried to breastfeed DC1 after getting home from hospital.

cantfindname · 13/10/2018 06:12

My list is sooo long I am not sure the page will take it...

What is 'famalams' someone please enlighten me?

Those I really loathe are holibobs, hubster/hubs,babe/bub, din-dins.

And the non-word 'naice' in a post. It was amusing in the original post but has now been done to death, let it go peeps (another one there!) and try for some originality.

yawning801 · 13/10/2018 07:30

I'm guilty of this one... but only to my cat!

KittyB52 · 13/10/2018 07:35

I don’t mind yummy, and as DD still calls me Mama, I am letting that one slide. Although it does irritate me elsewhere - ‘you got this, Mama’. Also dislike ‘mama bear’, unless you are an actual bear.

I hate nom, little man, #soblessed (unless ironic), and ‘cheeky’ as in a ‘cheeky glass of wine’ or ‘cheeky Nando's’.

I don’t mind biccie, sarnie or picky bits - we will sometimes have a picky tea. I thought ‘lush’ was OK until the dreadful Stacey (of ‘Gavin and’ fame) used it. shudders

‘Bants’ needs to fuck off.

KitschBitch · 13/10/2018 07:39

My lovely mum and her partner say 'really yummy' all the time and I want to scream.....

harrietm87 · 13/10/2018 07:51

Agree with all these. Especially “the fam” and “famalam” - wtf.

Also “veggies” - it’s everywhere now. All the new clean eating stuff is about how good veggies are for you and just throw a few veggies into your chia seed smoothie etc etc.
Just say vegetables. We’re not 5 years old.

dementedma · 13/10/2018 07:59

toothsome is an excellent word from ye olde Englishe....love it!

CutesyUserName · 13/10/2018 08:02

Can I add 'scrummy' and 'scrumptious' to the list too? And 'delish'?

GraceMarks · 13/10/2018 08:03

@cantfindname famalam just means family. It has the same number of syllables and one extra letter so it's not even a shortened version. It's a useful indication that you can safely write off the person who's used it as a twee fuckwit.

81Byerley · 13/10/2018 08:04

For me, it's "Tasty", "My baby girl" (When said daughter isn't a baby) "Babe" and "Hun".... especially in reply to horrible Facebook posts which just say things like "Feeling angry/upset"..... "You OK Hun?" STOP FISHING FOR PEOPLE TO ASK IF YOU'RE OK!

Notsureabouthis · 13/10/2018 08:28

Thanks for the yummy dins. Arghhhhhhh

Bananamam4 · 13/10/2018 08:39

Saying "much needed" and "I'm out with these two" when Facebook postingGrin

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 13/10/2018 10:13

What does nomnom actually MEAN?

I hate most of the above, but detest little man, little princess, bubba, hubby, wifey, belly, #feeling blessed, #lovethesetwo and any other twee words, particularly for bodily functions and body parts!

TamiTayorismyparentingguru · 13/10/2018 10:38

I thought nomnomnom was the worst until I received a friend request on Facebook from a family friend (i.e. he is friends with someone in my family and I can’t really avoid him).

His phrase of choice is yammy yammy 😱 He likes to think of himself as a bit of a foodie (he’s not - he just likes the status of having eaten in fancy restaurants) and is forever posting about whichever restaurant he’s in with photos of the food and the words “yammy yammy” or “yam yam”.

I cannot even Angry

TamiTayorismyparentingguru · 13/10/2018 10:39

I should point out that this manchild is in his late 50s too with no small children in his regular day to day life so zero excuses

notacooldad · 13/10/2018 10:44

One of the boys I used to work with would say 'yummy yummy, in my tummy 'after he had eaten something nice. I would drive me mad! ( to be fair he was a kid but I still hated it!)

notacooldad · 13/10/2018 10:50

We have a family friend who will put a photo on face book of their roast chicken dinner with about 8 diffetent hashtag.
#nomnom
#cookedfresh
#ilovemyfamily
#tastyhomecookedfood
#roastdinners
#familieseattogether
#perfectdinner

This is not an exaggeration and it is very annoying and quite ridiculous.

3secondsfromchaos · 13/10/2018 10:50

I hate it so much! It’s like trying to act like you’re so stupid or babyish that you can’t soeak properly. Ugggh.

TamiTayorismyparentingguru · 13/10/2018 10:56

notacooldad - my (much) younger sister does the very same thing. I would like to say that it’s because she is 14, but she’s not - she’s 26! Just one of the many reasons why she is now hidden from my Facebook feed.

TamiTayorismyparentingguru · 13/10/2018 11:00

Just looked at her Facebook and the most recent food-based post was a picture of a lunchbox with some veg sticks, cold meats, cheese and crackers. That totally normal and everyday lunch necessitated the following hashtags:
#lunch
#healthy
#sugarfree
#eattherainbow
#cutthecrap
#nomnom
#cleaneating

Hmm
Athena51 · 13/10/2018 11:03

Toothsome just makes me think of bodice rippers as in 'a toothsome wench' Grin

Hubby is grim but women who call themselves 'wifey' or even worse 'wifey-to-be' make me want to kill. Why did we even get the vote?

I know someone who hashtags pictures of her kids with #myworld and #myeverything which annoys me hugely.
