AIBU to be worried about what a clairvoyant has said?

My DM has just been to one, she is looking after our dog while we're moving house. The clairvoyant told her to lock the gates with bolts as nasty people are after our dog and if and when they come just hand her over as, again, they are not nice people.

I told my DP but he told me it's all fiction and the dogs fine. I really believe in clairvoyants so I'm literally shitting it right now!

Does the clairvoyant know where your mum lives and does she like the breed of dog you have? Because that might give you your answer!

She got the colour of the dog and said she's small. The breed of dog is an average size but mine is a pocket. She's worth quite a bit of money too so it's not unbelievable???? I don't know

If she is able to accurately predict the future, I'm assuming she's living the life of riley having correctly predicted the lottery numbers on at least one occasion and is just doing a bit of voyanting on the side to keep her hand in .

If she can predict that nasty people are after your dog, why can’t she predict the specifics of the theft? Like the names of these people, when they’ll arrive, how they’ll try to take the dog? In this way, the powers of clairvoyancy always seem so inadequate.

We all think that the clairvoyant touches on something that nobody else would know, but the information is out there, you just don't know it.

There is no such thing as a 'clairvoyant'.

If there were really people with the ability to have precognition - the ability to see into the future - the ability to see things that haven't happened yet - they would be the richest, most famous, most celebrated people on the planet.

They would hold the highest offices - every prime minister, president, and king would have his personal clairvoyant - on hand to tell him what the future holds, what decisions to make, how events will unfold.

Every company director would have their own highly esteemed company clairvoyant - to advise on how all commercial decisions and ventures would work out.

Every hospital, doctor, surgeon would have a clairvoyant on hand to advise whether it was worth doing that operation or treatment - whether the patient would survive, or whether it would just be waste of time.

These people with the ability to see the future, the future that hasn't happened yet - would be employed in every walk of life to advise and predict, at the highest level and held in the highest regard.

They are not. Because they cannot predict the future any more than my left foot can predict the future.

OP you don't need to be a clairvoyant with powers of precognition to tell someone looking after a valuable pet, to 'lock the gates' to protect against the possibility of someone stealing it. That's just common sense. You have something valuable, you protect it. It's just that she's embellished with predictions of 'nasty people' turning up and all that other crap that you appear to have fallen for, hook, line and sinker.

I totally agree, even those who do believe there is something there understand that the seaside laugh is much more to do with entertainment.
I'd even go as far as to say some people have got a gift/ are more able to guess correctly, have a sixth sense, or gut feeling. I have myself and have had some awful experiences of dreaming about events before they happen.
I wouldn't join those people ripping others off, it's disgusting as it preys on the vulnerable.
I couldn't even say they don't earn their money, as they do go to huge extremes sometimes research the life of their pre booked clients, and of course they have expenses the same as any other self employed person, but it's just so unethical.
