To wonder if there is a medium - full coverage foundation out there that doesn't look too heavy when applied?

I used to have wonderful skin, life/aging/fucking rosacea means this is no longer the case. I prefer medium to full coverage foundations for the times when I care to look good but every time I find a foundation that I think looks great and not unnatural when I apply it, two hours later if I catch myself in the mirror it looks heavy and obvious. Is there a foundation that doesn't do this but still covers well? I'm curious about the Charlotte Tilbury but that's a pricey gamble to take (my bathroom is the graveyard of foundations used only once...)

@ElspethFlashman do you think the Max Factor Radiant one would handle skin that gets quite oily?

ElspethFlashman · 09/10/2018 20:09

I imagine so, as it's not really glowy. I would describe it as more satin. I guess the main difference is that it's not as matte as Longwear heavyish foundations tend to be. I started finding the Double Wear a bit flat and ageing so this is more skin-like on me.

I still powder though, I always powder all foundations anyway as I'm paranoid.

Makeup revolution pro foundation is good. It gives a good coverage but is light.

I like No 7 Lift and Luminate.

I also have rosacea OP and have spent hundreds of pounds trying to find a foundation that works. My advice would be to go to Debenhams with a set of small pots and get samples.

My favourite foundation at the moment is Fenty Beauty, I have a Harvey Nichols local to me so I was colour matched.

I would recommend you try a setting spray. Without one my foundation slips off my face by lunchtime but with it lasts all day and doesn’t wear off.

What I’ve tried:
Double wear - looks like a mask and felt horrible on
Kat Von D - nice, but not as nice as Fenty
Rimmel (the one with the orange lid) - went on like a dream and looked lovely, unfortunately even with spray the staying power was poor. If you have dry skin it might work better for you
Mac studio sculpt - it’s ok. Always seems to oxidise terribly though
Urban Decay foundation (the original one - can’t remember the name) - really nice, lovely light texture
Essence instagram perfect - cheap as chips and works well but needs concealer

I use It Cosmetics bye bye redness on my red cheeks and it’s amazing.

Bare minerals, feels very light and my skin has never been better

I was a massive fan of the Virgin Vie in a compact, was just the best coverage, buildable, and would last a full day running about a shop floor like a madhead when i had my Saturday job. Discontinued and was devastated, however have been informed you can still find some on Ebay. If you like compact that is Smile

Illamasqua skin base is the best med/full coverage I’ve ever used, really easy to build coverage where you need it, comes in about 30 shades and is cruelty free if that’s important to you. Also if you know any students they were doing 25% off recently!
