To wonder if there is a medium - full coverage foundation out there that doesn't look too heavy when applied?

I used to have wonderful skin, life/aging/fucking rosacea means this is no longer the case. I prefer medium to full coverage foundations for the times when I care to look good but every time I find a foundation that I think looks great and not unnatural when I apply it, two hours later if I catch myself in the mirror it looks heavy and obvious. Is there a foundation that doesn't do this but still covers well? I'm curious about the Charlotte Tilbury but that's a pricey gamble to take (my bathroom is the graveyard of foundations used only once...)

I'm another No 7 fan but the one I use comes in a pot and is called a mousse rather than a liquid in a pump, which has never worked for me. Goes on easily and good coverage. I tried Double Wear, mainly because of the recommendations on here, but I look too "caked" in it. I get ready pretty speedily in the mornings - maybe if I had careful blending time (or patience) it would look better.

I love a full coverage foundation and over the years I have tried loads and always high end. Although I have very few lines or wrinkles, my skin has changed over the years and my all time favourite, Double wear ended up making my skin look dry and aging. I then found Maybelline super stay and it seriously is my all time favourite, even against my previous high end foundations costing 4 times more. I have have never found the cheaper alternatives to eyeshows though

Good morning all. Try the Milani foundation. You can find them on beauty day, cult beauty( I think) and Amazon. They're an American based company. It's a concealer and foundation in one. Very inexpensive and it's really good coverage. If you want to go upmarket, I would recommend Rihanna's Fenty beauty range or even Urban Decay. But the Milani imo is the best.

Chanel Le teint ultra tenue. Your skin looks flawless. I use Bobbi brown face base primer and moisturiser under mine.

It Cosmetics CC cream was made for Rosacea sufferers. I have it and I love it. I prefer the original to the illuminating (too sparkly), but have heard good things about the newer matte one too. I always get compliments when I wear it. I used to use their Bye Bye Pores powder (which is lovely) but have found other mineral ones are fine as well. (Make up is much more expensive here in Australia.) I love that it doesn’t sting, clog pores, irritate, etc AND it has a really decent spf that actually works!

I use Dermablend for my pustular rosacea. Excellent coverage and doesn't irritate my super sensitive skin.

HellenaHandbasket · 09/10/2018 07:51

I like 'The Ordinary' foundations.

PookieDo · 09/10/2018 07:54

L’Oréal True Match I love

PookieDo · 09/10/2018 07:54

And Derma Colour camouflage cream for any acne areas

Gah81 · 09/10/2018 07:57

Another vote for Estee Lauder Double Wear. Natural, long-lasting and excellent coverage.

ElspethFlashman · 09/10/2018 07:58

Tbh any cake foundation will look 10 times better if you use a Beauty Blender.

And Mac Fix+ spray is good for making full coverage foundation look dewier.

I have found a new foundation which looks a bit better than most medium to full one's. It's by Max Factor and called Radiant Lift Longwear or something. Recent release. I wear it to work a lot.

Katkincake · 09/10/2018 08:06

I too have a graveyard of tried foundations from most beauty counters. Bought a Charlotte Tilbury one (can't remember which) a month ago and I'm really pleased with its coverage and wear. Went a shade warmer than my skin tone as most others matched exactly and I looked ghostly in the wrong light!

EvaHarknessRose · 09/10/2018 08:36

I haven’t tried many, but recently picked up The Body Shop Matt Clay foundation and I would say this fits your description and feels nice on.

Also, its £10, and they will do a makeover in store for £10, but if you buy £10 plus of goods they generally don’t charge for the makeover, so you could try before you buy (and buy something else if you don’t like it). (Me and dd are fond of booking ahead and going there for makeovers together on shopping days).

ShadyLady53 · 09/10/2018 08:45

I’d pick Double Wear or Bourjois Healthy Mix any day over Charlotte Tilbury. I spent a fortune on her makeup and, having used both Light Wonder and Wonder with the primer and powder, her makeup is my biggest beauty disappointment. My friend is a makeup artist and bought CT products to give her the edge over her competitors and also really regretted it. She much preferred using my Double Wear on me when she did my makeup for a special occasion.

I also used to like Makeup Forever foundation.

Another vote for Vichy Dermablend 3D correction fluid here.

Severe acne for most of my teens and it’s no better in my twenties especially now that I’m preganant (I’m talking bright red cysts that no other foundation covers, maybelline doesn’t even make a dent in it)

This one gave me confidence for the first time ever. A small layer lasts me all day and keeps looking natural. It can also be used to cover quite severe scarring so spots and redness really won’t show through a bit. They do a setting powder to dust on top but as my skin is dry I don’t always bother.

It also does the job of reducing spots and inflammation as well as concealing them, for anybody struggling with their skin and needing to know they are covered it’s a literal lifesaver, I’m confident going out in it.

I found Mac Pro full coverage foundation ok but it goes cakey after a couple of hours

Lynne1Cat · 09/10/2018 10:19

I'm 59, have Rosacea quite badly. For a night out I use Estee Lauder's Double Wear. It goes on well, looks good, covers up my redness, and doesn't smudge onto collars etc.

During the day, I use a green colour-correcting cream and then Maybelline's Dream Liquid, with a colourless powder on top.

Are you in the UK? You can get a camouflage cream called VEIL, which is excellent. It is available on prescription too, although you can buy it from Veil's website. It comes in a variety of shades and you can buy the sample pots.

alwaysontimeneverlate · 09/10/2018 10:30

No7 loft and laminate is my absolute fav. I hate EL double wear it feels like I'm wearing a mask. I also like no7 beautifully Matt light

alwaysontimeneverlate · 09/10/2018 10:30

Lift and luminate ffs Hmm

Unicornandbows · 09/10/2018 10:35

Channel and nars both are my favourite I feel double wear from Estee tends to oxidise and is too thick

buttybuttybutthole · 09/10/2018 10:50

Been through the mill with foundations and settled on bourjois healthy mix with serum and also Rimmel 25 hr with serum. Both cheap, literally cover and last all day and are really really good to my skin. They look very natural too Smile

SistersOfPercy · 09/10/2018 10:53

Another Kat Von D vote. Best foundation I have ever used and you only need the tiniest drop so it lasts for ages.

Iooselipssinkships · 09/10/2018 10:57

No7 Stay Perfect. I've tried A LOT of foundations and this is the only one I've bought more than once. Good coverage and not cakey. I find Double Wear too heavy and mask-like (plus vaair expensive)

Rainbunny · 09/10/2018 17:39

Thanks everyone, lot's a great suggestions here! Think I'll skip Charlotte Tilbury then as there seems to be cheaper (better) alternatives suggested.

Boots No 7 Lift and Luminate. If you're bothered about animal testing, a lot of the big make up names still do it eg Estee Lauder, Max Factor etc. Boots don't test nor does Kat von D

Soontobe60 · 09/10/2018 18:50

You really dont need to pay loads! I too have rubbish skin now, especially roseacea, and eventually found this
theordinary.com/product/rdn-serum-foundation-10-n-eu-30ml?redir=1
It's quite light coverage, but stays put and covers my redness without being cakey. At less than £6, it's an absolute bargain.
