To ask how many hours you spend

On your phone in a day? The new iOS 12 update has a feature which tells you how long you are spending on it. I have to say my results are an eye opener! Today so far, I have looked at it for a total of 3 hours, and I usually spend most of the night on it too. I feel a bit sick at this, I knew it was a lot, I didn’t think it was this bad!

I dread to think :( im surgically attached. I dont watch tv anymore i dont read anymore. Ive the attention span of a newt.

I work full time otherwise it would be 24/7

Interesting, because I noticed this too! However what I would say is it includes time on things like Waze (sat nav map thing) so the other day 3 hours of my ‘screen time’ was actually just my sat nav! Also I don’t know if it’s when you don’t properly close down an app so it’s still running in the background that that ‘counts’ or not?!

I hate this feature! It makes me feel terribly guilty. On Wednesday last week I spent 5.5 hours on my phone!

About one or two minutes at most. That's one of the many advantages of not having a smart phone though.

Very little. My phone is a blackberry and we don’t have reception here. We use skype for work and landline at home. I do break things up by using my iPad an amount though.

I have a smart phone and use it for calls and texts only, however I use my I-pad to read news items and at times, mumsnet. Don't do a Facebook, so apart from mumsnet, I'm either researching things I'm interested in, reading the news, or looking at ideas in shops etc.
I have to say I'm watching TV at the same time - never just using my I-pad.

Loads. Not sure about the actual internet but I spend shit tons of time on my phone.. kindle app / tv and chatting to friends.

Mine said I averaged 2 hours a day last week - I’m disgusted!

It’s good isn’t it? I was onlh wondering just before the update if there was an app to track social media usage and it pops up.

I have a weekday ‘allowance’ of 90 minutes on social media but I do allow myself more after work.

If you mean mobile phone - zero. I've used it half a dozen times this year and still spending the £20 I put on it four years ago.

8 hours and 49 minutes today! It does state that it's 3 hours and 12 minutes above average though.

I've had a long bath and was also up in the night feeding and settling DD so was on it then too.

It does also count stuff like Xbox (which I use as my TV remote because the dog ate it!) and my food tracking apps etc.

Instagram is my biggest addition though.

Where can I find this feature?

I was really shocked when my phone told me that I was spending 2 hours a day on it!! My daughter’s usage was the same. We were both shocked and are going to try to cut back. Not going well so far
