Why do tights never fit ?

Orangeyouglad · 07/10/2018 15:17

Why do tights never fit? I have brought tights the size I am, 1-3 sizes above me and 1-2 sizes below my size and yet they never fit properly they always fall down or I end up with baggy knees.

I am plus size and I have even tried maternity tights in case they would help but nothing

Tights are evil and have got to be designed by a man because no woman would of done this !!

Have to tried doing pants tights pants?
The top pants being shapewear type ones? I'm plus size (20/22) too & tall and always find unless I do this my tights wriggle down. Shapewear ones work best as they're tighter so sort of hold them in place.

Saltypeanuts · 07/10/2018 15:21

You could wear leggings instead :)

VladmirsPoutine · 07/10/2018 15:23

I do think larger women aren't well catered for in many departments - tights just being one such case in point. Are you buying the right brands? I rarely go wrong with ASOS but haven't ever bought any of their Curve products.

Whatsallthisaboutthen · 07/10/2018 15:24

One word for you: SNAG. I don’t work for them 😆 they are game changers. Actual sizes. Bloody love them.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 07/10/2018 15:25

I agree. Snag tights are the best.

Streetart · 07/10/2018 15:25

Tights are evil. Expensive, too easy destroyed, uncomfortable and pointless. Socks are the solution.

TwitterQueen1 · 07/10/2018 15:25

Because they are the devil's work.

MaisyPops · 07/10/2018 15:26

I'm with you. Horrible things. As for pants, tights, pants, does that work? I can't help thinking i would permanently have thrush.

I think it's a case of find a set that suit your frame and then stick with it religiously.

I'm quite small build but always have to wear medium tights. Primark are so far my go to. I dont waste time or money buying them anywhere else now.

ShadyLady53 · 07/10/2018 15:28

It’s weird and depends on height as much as weight. Sometimes I’m a small, other times a medium and it’s potluck between different brands. I’m 5”5 inches and a size 10/12. These sizings should be standardised!

MrsChollySawcutt · 07/10/2018 15:29

Try Snag tights. Really comfortable and the only ones I have ever bought that don't slip and roll down during the day.

I hear you! I like nice thick coloured tights for winter. I am size 12/14 but not very tall so the bloody things just gradually roll down and disappear into my boots all day long. I have resorted to bunching up the excess fabric round the waist and using an elastic band to secure it!

Orangeyouglad · 07/10/2018 15:34

I have tried tights from new look, m and s, primark, ASOS, simply be, h and m and Evans. There was only one pair I found that fitted amazing and they were from
Yours but they snagged on the first use and if they didn’t the second wear they would fall down.

I’ve taken to wearing Spanx like shorts from primark on top of my tights to keep them up but life is too short to wear shape wear ever day !!

Another one saying Snag! They fit perfectly, don't roll or slip down, feel luxurious, and no "tights dance" to get them on. Fab fab fab

summerdazeahoy · 07/10/2018 15:53

I love the thick, totally opaque ones from M&S. They're expensive at around a tenner per pair, but they don't snag, roll down, can't ladder and last for ages. I have five pairs that will shortly be enjoying their third year of Winter wear.

Liverbird77 · 07/10/2018 17:36

I like debenhams..I am 5" 11 and the extra large fit well. All the others I've tried are just not long enough.

SauvignonBlanche · 07/10/2018 17:38

Snag!

Tobythecat · 07/10/2018 19:26

I always get the opaque ones from asda. They are good value and fit pretty well

yippeekiyay2 · 07/10/2018 19:31

Definitely snag tights. I saw them on Facebook and decided to give it a go as I struggle with tights the same. They were great and I definitely recommend them; I don’t wear dresses often but will be happier wearing them with the snag tights now Smile

goodnessidontknow · 07/10/2018 19:38

Another vote for Snags, I'm tall and they're the only comfortable tights I've ever found.

SingaSong12 · 07/10/2018 19:39

I hate tights, necessary evil for me,

movingschoolagain · 07/10/2018 20:28

The only tights I find comfortable any more are from John Lewis.

MirrorMouse · 07/10/2018 20:35

You need Snag tights. I'm plus size too and these are the best tights I've ever had.

tectonicplates · 07/10/2018 20:51

Snag tights look interesting, but I can't work out what size I need. I really don't know if I count as a curvy shape (big bum etc) or not.

PawPawNoodle · 07/10/2018 21:00

I'm 5ft 7 and size 20 (both belly and arse issues but not terribly broad at the hips) - the Sainsburys 30 denier size XL are an absolute dream. They actually stay up of their own accord!

TwinkleTee · 07/10/2018 21:08

I've heard really good things about these tights....

Only bought the anti-chafing shorts from here for summer (which are ace), but definitely considering the tights too now its colder...
