I think the earlier episodes of friends are better. He prefers the later ones (S10 is his favourite- the only good episodes IMO are the ones when Ross gets drunk after finding out about Rachel and Joey and the spray tan one)

FOr context- DP was 20 when they came out, I was 6.

I prefer the earlier seasons too, the characters were more likeable and believable - in later seasons they just became caricatures.

If I had to choose I’d say the later episodes. The characters are obviously more established so their personality and traits can be humorised more, if that makes sense!

I was a huge mondler fan so loved season 5 when it came out (I was 9 when the show started, started watching it aged about 13/14)

Some of the storylines in later seasons were truly ridiculous (beyond normal sitcom ridiculous) and the characters became caricatures of themselves especially Joey and Phoebe.

I was watching season 1 recently and had the horrible realisation that I’m now older than any of the main cast or characters were in it.

The early seasons are more consistent and grounded.

The later seasons are more hit and miss. My favourite episodes are in the later seasons, but so are some of the worst (Joey trying to learn French and the Joey-Rachel plotline spring to mind).

We were rewatching but we got about half way through Rachel’s pregnancy and gave up as the characters were becoming so unlikeable.

Seasons 4 (15 Yemen Road Yemen), 5 and 6 were my fave.
Then 7.
Then 3, 8, 9, 2, 1, 10

I love them all! So many favourites from the early series but my absolute favourite is the last ever episode: 'I got off the plane!' ❤️

I didnt like the season when ross married emily. His character wasnt good.

I adore Friends but yea the earlier seasons are better. But as another big Mondler fan my favourite season is season 5.

I do prefer the later ones but there were some god awful shite episodes (Joey speaking French was dire) but I generally love them. I do like how Rachel's character evolved and I love Chandler and Monica.

the best thing about the later ones is Monica and Chandler but the will they-won't they of the first 2 series with rachel and ross was so good to watch when you were watching it unfolding in real time. My brother and I used to live for Friday nights and we would record the episode and watch it every other night that week until the next Friday. I think it reminds me of my childhood/teemage years which perhaps it does for your dP?

Seasons 1-6 are best. It all went downhill when Chandler proposed.
