I think the earlier episodes of friends are better. He prefers the later ones (S10 is his favourite- the only good episodes IMO are the ones when Ross gets drunk after finding out about Rachel and Joey and the spray tan one)

Earlier for sure. But I love them all.

I am perplexed that you find them funny at all! It is very much of an era. The jokes are very obvious, so to go back at a much later date surely makes them even less funny. I think a large part of the appeal is that everyone watched it (because there was no catch up). So it was a shared experience (even if it was a substandard one, because bear in mind, we had the fucking Fast Show.... who the fuck wanted to watch friends when we could be watching the Fast Show!!?)

I like Season 5,6,7 the best. Chandler and Monica saved the show for me.

Chandler and Monica were enough of a reason to bin the franchise as a whole. The final episode (which I was forced to watch by a friend) was so vomit-inducingly shite that I was shocked it got airtime.

Preferred the later ones. Mainly after Chandler and Monica got together.

I really dislike the earlier series' (barring a few random episodes) and can't bring myself to watch them.

Regardless of series, the best episodes were any that went back to the past (fat Monica/pre-nose job Rachel/utterly tragic Ross and Chandler...)

It's a matter of opinion. He has his and you have yours. There's no right or wrong.

Earlier seasons. They seemed to dumb down a lot of the characters as time went on and sometimes had them acting a bit ridiculous. Still over it though. Gives me a warm fuzzy front when I watch them. Friends made me feel happier when I was going through some difficult times as a child.

I think series 9 and 10 were dire. Loved series 3, 4 and 5 the most. But watching it back now, can’t believe what an emotional abusive arsehole Ross is to Rachel. Why did we all want them to get together?!

Oh god definitely the earlier ones. They become complete parodies of themselves towards the end and none of them are likeable. Plus Chandler and Monica are a terrible couple. And Rachel and Joey. The early seasons are lovely - warm, funny and gentle.

I was watching a few episodes today and thought exactly that about Ross! He was always the one I really didn't like when I was younger and never really understood why until I watch them now ad an adult.
