AIBU?
to think if you ask for melon with a bit of yoghurt for breakfast
happystrummer · 05/10/2018 09:42
If you ask for melon with a bit of yoghurt for breakfast AIBU to expect not to get a full cereal bowl of yoghurt with 4 pieces of melon, a banana and a dollop of blackcurrant jam on top without being told I;m ungrateful.
MsOliphant · 05/10/2018 09:44
Sounds like someone tried to make you a nice breakfast?
Maybe you should gy your own next time.
Or...just eat the melon and yoghurt
ContessasGulagSpaDay · 05/10/2018 09:44
It sounds like they were trying to be helpful, but in so doing gave you something different to what you'd asked for! Who was it who told you you're ungrateful?
onalongsabbatical · 05/10/2018 09:45
Context - hotel, normally attentive partner, abusive partner, elderly mum with dementia, your six year old making you breakfast for the first time, your best friend who you haven't seen for ten years because they've been living in Australia?
happystrummer · 05/10/2018 09:49
My other half was of course being lovely making me breakfast. I was a bit perplexed by the jam garnish to be honest
YeTalkShiteHen · 05/10/2018 09:53
So your OH tried to make you a nice breakfast, and then called you ungrateful?
What was said in the middle?
happystrummer · 05/10/2018 09:54
memorial: It was fairly inedible to be honest - a bowl of plain yoghurt with a few bits in with a big dollop of jam. I did try!
happystrummer · 05/10/2018 09:56
I said thats an awful lot of yoghurt for the melon and why have you put a banana in and jam on top? I only wanted melon and a bit of yoghurt! He does a cracking full english tho
crumpet · 05/10/2018 09:58
Struggling to see how it was inedible, though? Standard French breakfast used to be yoghurt with jam, and banana and melon is fairly innocuous. I’d say the name was there in an effort to pretty it up and make it look nice for you.
happystrummer · 05/10/2018 09:59
Yes probably am bu..if you want jam free melon I guess you have to do it yourself!
MsOliphant · 05/10/2018 09:59
I don’t let my (lovely) DP cook anything for me. I’m incredibly particular and I know of I want it done right, I need to do it myself. Otherwise I’ll say something horrid and then feel bad I’ve upset him.
Weirdly, he also does a great full English, but I’m trying to be thin, so I won’t eat that either.
IHeartKingThistle · 05/10/2018 10:00
DH isn't allowed to make my toast. He's very lovely but I cannot eat WRONG toast.
happystrummer · 05/10/2018 10:02
inedible is a stretch perhaps but it wasnt pretty ..you couldnt see much for the half a ton of yoghurt and dollop of jam
ContessasGulagSpaDay · 05/10/2018 10:02
I think I would be grateful for the effort but articulate exactly what it was I had in mind so that he knows for next time.
sounds like my sex life
happystrummer · 05/10/2018 10:02
i also dont let him do pasta as he puts what tastes like a tablespoon of salt in it
MsOliphant · 05/10/2018 10:02
I had a meltdown when I let DP make me boiled eggs and soldiers. The alarm for the eggs eat off, and he left them in the water and then put the toast in. Ruined.
happystrummer · 05/10/2018 10:03
its a particular skill getting boiled eggs and soldiers wrong
