To think we might not be going on holiday next April after all?

We stupidly booked a holiday to France for about a fortnight after Brexit. I didn’t even consider brexit at the time, I just considered ds’s Easter holidays. It’s to Disneyland Paris and we’ve been waiting to take the children for ages. We’ve only paid the deposit on the hotel (stopping in Disneyland hotel so expensive if we end up not being able to go) but have paid for the flights.

We are idiots.

Would we be best to cut our losses and not pay the balance on the hotel and book for another time?

Good grief! The world isn't going to end after Brexit!

Helmetbymidnight · 17/10/2018 13:22

Good grief, no one said the world was going to end after Brexit, did they? So why are you saying that?

DS's school is running a trip to Europe leaving on 30th March. Its oversubscribed and they're trying to arrange extra places. Clearly oblivious to the potential issues.

ss2011 · 17/10/2018 13:27

I think you should just go for it, yes, you might have some longer delays at passport control (but I have had that anyway...once I travelled back from Spain when Spanish customs were on strike...our flight was really delayed because of queues but it still flew). If you cancel your holiday now you still lose money, and then how will you know when it’s safe to re-book. Don’t cancel ...

Helmetbymidnight · 17/10/2018 15:54

You feel completely confident that a deal will be made then ss2011?

user1981287 · 17/10/2018 16:08

We have rearranged holidays. Next easter's holiday is now happening at Feb half term and our big holiday for next year is now happening next week!

countrygirl99 · 17/10/2018 16:15

We flew the day after they introduced the fluids in hand luggage ban. A really minor change but it was utter chaos. I imagine that the first few days , if not weeks, after a no deal credit will be like that.

Parker231 · 17/10/2018 17:30

If there is a no deal and no replacement to the Open Skies Agreement there won’t be any flights in and out of the UK.

Potential need for a visa to visit France

Taking back control isn’t it. Confused

Tippexy · 01/02/2020 11:37

All that scaremongering for nothing! Grin

OlaEliza · 01/02/2020 11:38

😂

BoxedWine · 01/02/2020 11:53

We were still in the EU at the point when OP presumably went on her holiday...

BigFatLiar · 01/02/2020 12:10

No real change until December this year as we're in transition period.

AlwaysCheddar · 01/02/2020 12:23

Wow...... flights still running!!!! What a load of scaremongering! Sad....

BritWifeinUSA · 01/02/2020 12:26

As if Brits are going to need visas for France! We didn’t need them before the EU was even thought of. Swiss and Norwegian citizens don’t need them for France and they have never been members of the EU.

It does amuse me how people overreacted.

Wakemeuuuup · 01/02/2020 12:29

Do you not know that we are in transition until 31/12/2020. That means no changes this year. If you think today is what brexit will be like there's no hope.

Or maybe if you like this kind of brexit we shouldn't have done it
