All seems to indicate that it's now crunch time for the UK. In the style of another active thread, I'd like to ask you all what you'd go for if given a binary choice between No Deal at all with the EU or Remain.
No blame game or mud slinging, just simple polite answers please.

OP posts:

I voted remain but now say no deal. A lot of which is to do with not wishing to align myself with the people such as are on here.

A peculiar argument for changing your vote from the stability of a status quo to smashing the country to smithereens. Your choice though.

A large majority just posted “Remain” and a significant number of other remain posts elaborated on their choice without being abusive. Indeed, very few were abusive IMO, perhaps we have different ideas of what constitutes abuse.

If there were to be another vote I do hope that you’d consider the options very carefully and not decide based on a few comments made by angry and frustrated Mumsnet posters

Remain

borntobequiet · 06/10/2018 07:21

BBC reality check on EU border crossing times Norway/Sweden, Turkey/Bulgaria, Switzerland/France. All hard borders with potential long delays, even the French/Swiss one.

Countryfile thinks we will have a hard time of it:

I for one would not want to return to the barren wasteland of the U.K. diet I remember from the 70s.

Frozen veg. Yay.

Geraldine170 · 06/10/2018 08:03

And yes this is a pointless exercise. As Mumsnet is proud to point out when they are asking for cash off advertisers (but not so much when the EU is being discussed) Mumsnet is stuffed with the wealthiest and most privileged women in society and although they like to flash their socialist credentials they couldn’t really give two shits about the working class (especially if they’re white). It’s a site stuffed full of the Lady Nugees or this world who claim to be socialist but hold the (white) working classes in complete contempt. (Yes I’m looking at you Justine Roberts).

Just after the referendum this site was wall to wall over privileged bitches demanding that people without degrees were disenfranchised and expressing disgust working class people has not listened to their betters and done what they were told.

If anybody is stupid enough to believe this partisan, biased site which favours the wealthy metropolitan elite heavily, can give anything like a genuine, balanced view of the zeitgeist in this country then they’re an idiot who deserves everything they get. Just a shame the rest of us have to suffer alongside them because of their stupidity.

LittleLionMansMummy · 06/10/2018 08:04

Remain. And will see some other pp on 20th Oct in London..

1tisILeClerc · 06/10/2018 08:05

@onegiftedgal and Geraldine
The UK is not self sufficient in food, part of the reason that around 8,500 trucks (though not all of them are food) cross on ferries Calais-Dover per day.
I presume it has not occurred to you that there may be a reason that the government are turning 17 miles of the M20 into a massive lorry park.
Most of the food industry runs on a 'Just in time' basis, food needed in Sainsburys (other supermarkets and shops are available) travels by lorry from possibly anywhere in Europe, being 'harvested' the day before.
What I have said is only repeating official guidelines published by the UK government and if you bother to think about the ramifications of what is being said, by the government you would have at least some concern.
Food GROWING in the UK is not the same as ready to be harvested and eaten.
Personally I don't give a stuff as I don't live in England now, but I am concerned about family and friends.

borntobequiet · 06/10/2018 08:05

How to make friends and influence people...

Geraldine170 · 06/10/2018 08:06

I for one would not want to return to the barren wasteland of the U.K. diet I remember from the 70s.

That’s hilarious. You’re in favour of politically oppressing the working classes because you want to much salad. It’s a shame Marie Antoinette never really said ‘let them eat cake’ because that would be such a perfect analogy for you.

WillaDapeepul · 06/10/2018 08:08

So the hungry gap is a made-up thing?

1tisILeClerc · 06/10/2018 08:12

I think we can spot who got out of the 'angry' side of bed this morning.

Geraldine170 · 06/10/2018 08:18

You’re so comedy! Do you not see the hypocrisy of saying we’re dependent on the EU at the same time as trapping off about how much EU farmers sell here! 😂😂😂

I presume it has not occurred to you that there may be a reason that the government are turning 17 miles of the M20 into a massive lorry park.

Yes, can you not process the hypocrisy of banging on about how wonderful free trade with the EU is at the same time as admitting we don’t have free trade with them at all and they cut it off and turn the M20 into a car park anytime they feel like it?

user1457017537 · 06/10/2018 08:19

No deal

NoSuchThingAsAlpha · 06/10/2018 08:24

Remain

I find it interesting that the no deal lot are setting the acceptable standard of food supply at "not starving to death". Is wanting a steady supply of nice food somehow defeatist? Why should my family have to put up with months of eating food we don't want just for the sake of a no deal?

Geraldine170 · 06/10/2018 08:25

I think we can spot who got out of the 'angry' side of bed this morning.

Yes, evil rich bitches like Gina Miller who don’t care if poorer women can access affordable housing or decent wages as long as they can carry on eating cheap salad and employing cheap cleaners fuck me off. Bite me you over privileged scumbag who doesn’t care about poor women when your cheap Tuscany property is at stake. Thank God Salvini is ready to deal with the likes of you.
