AIBU?

Fuck off with your big arsed car!

Kind of light hearted...

Not only am I constantly blinded by their bastarding headlights when driving at night, 9 out of 10 times I come back to my car to find that a big arsed giant fuck off car has parked next to my tiny and mega old in comparison car.

Ok I understand that people can park where ever they want, however it really annoys the hell out of me to the point I feel like asking them why the hell do they need such a big car when they’re the only person in it, and do they actually live on a farm? 😂 (I’ve never actually seen more than 2 people in these things and I tend to see more older and retired drivers so my mind boggles why they’d actually need one)

The reason I get the rage is because these cars take up nearly two parking spaces, and therefore park really close up to my car making it difficult for me to see beyond their car when I’m trying to reverse out of a parking space as my car is so small (I can drive it just naffs me off that they always park next to me).

They also don’t seem to give a shit about how close they’re parked next to me. Twice this week whilst I have been sat in my car they have banged their car door into mine and not even acknowledged it. I know I should have said something but honestly if I did the farm and some other random comment about having a big arse would come out! 😂

AIBU to put a sign on my car saying ‘fuck office with your big arsed car!’ When I park up? 🤔

I quite like the idea that, in a small car, you can tuck it into a parking space and fool big-arsed car drivers, briefly, that it's an empty space! Bit of revenge for them blocking up every car park and road in the land!

I do love that I have more parking options in my tiny car too.

I loathe them in the UK. Exceptions made for people with disabilities, proper country workers etc. Absolutely loathe them. Take up too much space, can't see through them if they are very high, headlights too high up. They might be comfortable, nice to drive etc but they have a negative impact on other drivers. And yes, I could afford one before someone says it's jealousy, but I would never get one.

Can't stand them! So unenviornmental and make it so hard to park. Obviously fair enough if you're a farmer or have a million kids or a disability which requires a big car.

I'm curious at what point a car is classed as a big arse car. It can't just be SUVs. Estate cars are always hanging over spaces. They're not exactly massive just really long.

Armchairanarchist you don't need 4wd to get up hills in winter. I manage fine in my hatchbacks. Put winter tyres on and drive slowly. You're actually safer in a smaller car as they are lighter and are less likely to slide. I would choose a small car over a 4x4 any day. The only help a 4x4 helps with is ground clearance and a lot of new ones these days don't have much better than a smaller car.

If you struggle to park your teeny car, maybe you should have more lessons.

No matter how many times my eyes flick over the title of this thread, I always read "Fuck off with your big arsed cat".

English teachers, eh? Can read, won't read.

I don't think it'd make much difference how many lessons someone had - if a masssive car is taking up half an 'empty' space, you can't then park in it! Basic physics...

Echt Grin

I don't mind estate cars. At least they don't blind you, and at least you can see over the fuckers to cross the road.
Tall big arsed cars are very dangerous for children trying to cross roads.
And they look ridiculous.

I love my big arsed car. I’m not even going to justify why I have it.

People driving any car can drive/park like idiots.

Chelsea tractors.
I have no problem with anyone that has these for utilitarian use but I have a problem with the 4x4 mum brigade that buy these under the misguided belief that...
“This is for the safety of my child”
They only go to local supermarkets and school run. They have problems manoeuvring them and are a menace.
Perhaps the biggest statement they are making is that they are sheep. They get what others have to fit in and have no real identity. Carbon copies of each other.

Its amazing how many MN-ers live in an area of minute parking spaces.

I drive a 4x4. Ive never struggled to park wholly in a parking space not encroached on anyone else’s space.

Oh and mine is (a) very economical and lower on emissions than a number of small cars and (b) shorter than an estate.

Last March mine was the only car that could get off our rural road. I did shopping for neighbours, took lady next door to get her prescription.

Mine is 10 years old next year and runs like new. Why would I change it? How ridiculously wasteful.

It's ludicrous they make British parking spaces even in brand new car parks so small. They don't fit a good percentage of modern cars. It has always baffled me that Brits put up with it. The same goes on new estates where of course the road could be made wise enough and enough appropriate parking provided.

I drive a big arsed car and I don’t own horses or live down a dirt path. I love them because I have a bad back and I have trouble getting out of small lower cars when it’s out of whack. My elderly parent have a big arsed car because my father has mobility issues and hasn’t been able to get out of a sedan for last 10 years. Don’t give a shite whether you like my car or judge me when you see me getting out of it alone.

Says someone who clearly doesn't have a lot of experience driving in snow! so many things wrong in that! 4wd helps on all but ice; drive slowly isn't key its driving consistently (not braking or gunning); lighter cars get less grip and are more likely to slide; there are many 4wd cars with no more ground clearance than 2wd.

I think 4x4s must be catching. One person at our school got a Range Rover and within a matter of weeks, there were about another 10. At least 5 of them are identical - and quite distinctive - which makes it quite entertaining when they finish up parked in a row.

It's the graduates of the Stevie Wonder Parking School that annoy me, the idiot who doesn't so much park the vehicle as abandon it. Some authorities are now booking those who encroach onto the white lines, good for them!

I found the opposite Grin

Had to hire a car for a family emergency and only one they had was a 4x4. People's reactions were very odd.

On that trip I had to do a food shop so went to Tesco. Huge car park, I park well away from the store and any other car as my car is big and can't fit inside the white lines. Blow me down if I arrive back at my car and two fuckwits had parked close either side of me. No others cars anywhere near us but they chose to park right next to me. Assholes!

It was a Toyota Yaris that caused a big accident at the end of our road the other week by parking right on a blind corner.

It was a Corsa driver that reversed back into the side of my DBro car and write his car off.

Just saying.

No just 11 years of experience driving on snow and ice in scotland. All 11 with a small hatchback car. You don't need 4wd for winter in Britain. I've been one of few driving in deep snow before in a clio, because I know how to and put winter tyres on. But you keep paying over the top prices for winter time. That's your choice.

Even small cars are big these days. A new-style mini positively dwarfs the old mini, and DP reckons you could park an old mini in the back of the current Clubman.

We saw a Mk1 Austin Cambridge the other day. In its day, that was regarded as a large family car and it looked tiny.

We often park our motorhome alongside cars that take up almost as much space, and don't have a toilet, shower, kitchen or double bed on board. Grin What on earth do they need all that space for?

If DP can park a motorhome, without power steering, in a standard supermarket space, with only the towbar overhanging the white line, I don't see why these big-arsed cars with PS and parking sensors can't manage it.

I've noticed a MASSIVE surge in the amount of those huge American style pickup trucks in my town lately. One bloke seemed to get one, and then all the other blokes had to whap out their willies for the measuring competition, so they got one too Hmm There are now three dads (all SAHP) with them just at DD's school. It only has 60 students and is only one of five schools in town. They look fucking ridiculous driving between school and the new-ish housing estate they live on . . . three minutes away! And don't get me started on the 4x4 mums taking a single child to school who cannot park for toffee. Uuuuugh!

Our town is one of those dainty, historical types with very narrow roads in a lot of places. The town is already crippled trying to handle the volume of traffic on the roads without all the monster trucks and 4x4's added into the mix. Unless you need a car that size for some sort of labour related work or to battle a lot of bad weather, I simply don't understand the mentality in getting one Confused I would struggle to climb in and out of such beasts, so god knows how anybody with a disability is managing the damn jump!

It annoys the hell out of me. Cars get bigger and bigger and now our tiny road which used to comfortably park 8 or 9 cars 20 years ago, now just has 5 or 6 badly parked monsters. We have small two bedroom homes so small families in a suburban environment. It's an environmental pissing contest.

I changed from a clapped out old estate car to a big arsed car.

Regarding the foot print on the road ie the actual space that the car takes up, my big arse car is actually shorter although a touch wider:
Estate: 4943mm long, 1868mm wide
Big arse: 4599mm long, 1894mm wide

So why is it 4x4 drivers who always get it in the neck? Why not estate car drivers? I do understand the the extra height does make them seem bigger (and the height of the head lamps are problematic, I do agree) but the facts are that they are very often not any larger than the estate cars no one takes a blind bit of notice of.

People who park badly and inconsiderately are gits, whatever the size of their car.
