AIBU?

Fuck off with your big arsed car!

Kind of light hearted...

Not only am I constantly blinded by their bastarding headlights when driving at night, 9 out of 10 times I come back to my car to find that a big arsed giant fuck off car has parked next to my tiny and mega old in comparison car.

Ok I understand that people can park where ever they want, however it really annoys the hell out of me to the point I feel like asking them why the hell do they need such a big car when they’re the only person in it, and do they actually live on a farm? 😂 (I’ve never actually seen more than 2 people in these things and I tend to see more older and retired drivers so my mind boggles why they’d actually need one)

The reason I get the rage is because these cars take up nearly two parking spaces, and therefore park really close up to my car making it difficult for me to see beyond their car when I’m trying to reverse out of a parking space as my car is so small (I can drive it just naffs me off that they always park next to me).

They also don’t seem to give a shit about how close they’re parked next to me. Twice this week whilst I have been sat in my car they have banged their car door into mine and not even acknowledged it. I know I should have said something but honestly if I did the farm and some other random comment about having a big arse would come out! 😂

AIBU to put a sign on my car saying ‘fuck office with your big arsed car!’ When I park up? 🤔

Sorry the sign would say ‘fuck off with your big arse car!’ Not office!

I’ll start campaigning for a 4x4 only parking area then. Sorry my cars inconvenience you so much. Grin Reversing into a space is safer than reversing out of it.

chickhonhoneybabe · 02/10/2018 20:23

I think a campaign is the next option NotUmbongoUnchained a lot of the cars don’t fit in standard parking bays nowadays.

OP I agree with you. These cars are the automotive equivalent of manspreading.

bridgetreilly · 02/10/2018 20:23

I basically think that car manufacturers need to stop making cars bigger and bigger. They take up more space on the roads and more space in car parks and WE DON'T HAVE ANY SPARE SPACE in this country! It's fine to have huge cars in, say, America. But in places with high population density, large cars are selfish and unnecessary.

Frouby · 02/10/2018 20:24

I drive a big arsed car. Warrior pick up. I don't live on a farm but do have horses and a huge allotment so use the big arsed bit of it quite a lot.

I parked yesterday on the end of a row. Nothing parked on the drivers side. Enough room for 5 or 6 cars.

Some absolute cockwomble parked a clio so close to me I almost couldn't get out. Had to slither out.

Doesn't matter if you are driving a pick up or a micra. Parking like a cunt is still parking like a cunt. Mine is no wider than DHs astra. Though quite a bit longer. I park in the middle of spaces.

chickhonhoneybabe · 02/10/2018 20:24

Totally agree SerenDippitty I honestly think they pick my car as it’s so small and makes them look bigger!

Reversing in is safer until some silly bint in Sainsbury's decides to reverse her tiny Volkswagen into the mahoosive parent and child space beside you but hasn't the spatial awareness to keep it more than two inches from your open rear door/backside as you're strapping the toddler in the car seat. Some folk have no brains and if the widow had been open more I'd have reached in to slap her.

If you can't park it, you shouldn't be driving it!!!!

Rant over.

PumpkinPie2016 · 02/10/2018 20:25

Headlights - do you wear glasses at all? A coating on them can help to reduce glare. It isn't just big cars though - most modern cars have very bright headlights.

I need my 4x4 due to where I live (narrow steep lane which frequently gets snow in winter and would otherwise be impassable). Plus, to be honest, I just feel safer in a bigger car.

I do try though, wherever possible to park in an end space so that I can leave a bit more room for the car next to me.

TheDarkPassenger · 02/10/2018 20:25

I have a big arsed car but I’m very considerate with it and won’t squash into tiny places :) I’ll park further away if needs be

NotUmbongoUnchained · 02/10/2018 20:26

I have a Range Rover and a Ford Ranger and I manage to park in normal bays!

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 02/10/2018 20:27

Dh calls them fat cars. Beloved of those who love driving down the centre of country roads. (And generally, though not always, driven by those who only drive THROUGH the countryside, rather than living in it) And, yes, I live in the country.

RedneckStumpy · 02/10/2018 20:27

OP you would love DH’s Ford Excursion. But luckily we are not in the US!

IfNotNowThenWhen1 · 02/10/2018 20:28

YANBU. And big arsed car drivers rarely know how to manoeuvre the fucking things. Or park. I'd like to see a great big arsed tax on big arsed cars. That would show the fuckers.

Kelsoooo · 02/10/2018 20:30

Also have a big car
Park considerately.
Lights are shocking. Definitely not the glaring type.

Helpmemyhairisterrible · 02/10/2018 20:30

Already a big tax on big cars. Anywhere between 240 and 500 a year. Not enough to discourage anyone who can afford to put diesel in one?

chickhonhoneybabe · 02/10/2018 20:31

PumpkinPie2016 I do have glasses with the coating it doesn’t do much unfortunately.

I have a big arse car. I do not apologise. I live on a small holding down a road that regularly floods and which is not gritted in winter. There are many larger things on the road than my car, some of which park next to me and make it hard for me to reverse out of parking spaces but I don’t have a go at big arsed vans, campers, lorries or tractors...I try to park carefully and with thought for others and indeed always pick the farthest quietest spot in a car park because believe it or not I don’t want my door dinged either...

chickhonhoneybabe · 02/10/2018 20:34

Actually thinking about it. A few years ago my car was written off in bad snow as an elderly man who had some kind of American 4x4 was driving too fast and slid and lost control and hit my parked car, and all he could say was that he knew how to control it! Urm no you don’t mate you wrote my parked car off!

As an Aussie I'm constantly surprised at how badly many Brits drive in the snow....

randomsabreuse · 02/10/2018 20:45

Supermarket is the one place I don't tend to reverse in - I actually want my boot accessible from my trolley and there is unlikely to be space to get the trolley to the boot unless I go in forwards. DH and I seem to be the only people on our road who reverse onto a driveway though...

Will admit that at the local hospital I drove into a space as I wanted to just claim it as I had about 10 minutes to my appointment a good 7 minute walk from the outpatient parking area (had been mooching around the car park for the previous 15 minutes).

RedneckStumpy · 02/10/2018 20:45

Degustibusnonestdisputandem1

I have lived in Maine a few years now, I have learned to drive in the snow. Now I would happily drive in British snow!

If I called into work to say I was couldn’t drive with 3” of snow I would probably get fired!

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 02/10/2018 20:48

I drive a pickup truck Grin

bucketing down with snow today so bloody need it too

Greaterthanthesumoftheparts · 02/10/2018 20:50

My husband and I both drive reasonably big arse cars (Mercedes GLC). We live in an apartment and purposely bought 3 adjacent parking spaces in the garage instead of 2 to make parking (and getting DS in and out of his car seat) easier. We also have the 360 camera so that we can ensure that we don’t park like idiots. Actually we also got the auto parking where it parks for you but I havem’t Been brave enough to try it yet!

Tinkobell · 02/10/2018 20:52

You can get " I've parked like a dick" stickers on Amazon op ....for a bit of passive aggressive revenge. Apparently the glue welds to the paintwork and has to be removed slowly in tiny miniscule strips.
