.... you lived in a block of privately rented and owned flats, you shared a drive way and one day came home to find some chalk drawings on the floor from one of your neighbours kids? Some squiggles, a stick man and a name of one of the children?

Would you speak to the parent and tell them you don't like it and please could you stop?

Would you ignore it unless it kept happening and assume the parent had dealt with it?

Would you speak to the managing agent, get them to come round, take photos of the evidence and send it to all 16 flats telling telling them how this would not be tolerated?

Someone spray painted a big yellow willy on my road. I made me laugh every time I saw it. Very sad when it faded.

DancingDot · 02/10/2018 20:17

I'd ask the managing agent to send a letter round all residents advising them that filming children on private property is illegal!

NonaGrey · 02/10/2018 20:27

I’d bet that they won’t be specifically filming the kids, they’ll be referring to CCTV.

Given your update I can see why the residents were peeved, I wouldn’t be best pleased about that myself. Regardless of the penis threatening the kids is inappropriate.

No more chalk unfortunately. It’s probably a good lesson for the children though. Behave in an inappropriate manner and you lose privileges.

Just chalk it up to experience OP

(Sorry I couldn’t resist)

Crumbs. I'd find it hard to get upset about this if I was your neighbour. I would probably request flowers, trees, birds and other happy, colourful drawings. (Chn's drawings are so uplifting.)

Just so you know...

I would have an issue with the neighbour filming them.
I would also have an issue with the noise of a ball bouncing and/or screaming (if it comes up).

I would probably apologise for any offence caused by the chalk penis but make it clear that filming my chn was completely unacceptable.

ButAIBUtho · 02/10/2018 20:40

I do feel bad about the penis.

I thought the guy meant CCTV as well. But the kids explained (as did the man) that his car has a camera in it as a security measure and he told the kids he had them on film.

He was apologetic when I explained that he's a guy approaching children, telling them they are being filmed by him which isn't appropriate.

So by all accounts it's kind of sorted now.

I wish I had known about the penis though!

It sounds like you’ve dealt with it really well though But.

By going calmly to speak to the guy rather than all guns blazing you were able to reasonably make your point about the filming while he made his about the penis.

You have adulted well today. Have a virtual WineCake

Seniorschoolmum · 02/10/2018 20:48

Wow, you have some really joyless, small minded neighbours.

Chalk drawing are harmless, temporary and really quite sweet. I wouldn't mind in the slightest.

DwangelaForever · 02/10/2018 20:54

Awk now it's a bit of chalk it'll wash off in the rain Hmm

Samantha2018 · 02/10/2018 20:58

Is this real?
Some kids on our street chalked peoples brick wall it's pretty chilled no one cared!

AnnieAnoniMouse · 03/10/2018 00:17

Seriously, it was a chalk drawing of a penis, they weren’t projecting porn videos onto the side of the building! Half the population has one. Would anyone have been bothered by a foot, hand, a head. No. Grips need got.

TrudeauGirl · 03/10/2018 00:37

Some children drew some flowers in chalk near our house. It was cute and nostalgic. I love seeing it Smile

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 03/10/2018 00:47

Chalk on stone?
Not offensive?
Wouldn’t bother my arse tbh

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 03/10/2018 00:48

If we were talking spray paint of a knob or some offensive propaganda very different
