Has anyone been to a psychic who has told them something that has come true?

Just that really, years ago I went to see two different psychics about a couple of years apart and they have got things quite close to the mark, somethings that even I did not volunteer!

I am quite skeptical, so I tend to go into these meetings with an attitude of trying to be as poker faced as possible.

The last one I went to see said I would have a little girl, and twins!

I’ve recently had a little girl so she got that right! I know not that much of a coincidence! I keep joking with my oh saying it will be twins next time!

So, my partner thinks it’s a whole load of rubbish, I don’t, I try to keep an open mind!

Not really AIBU but would like to hear stories from other people about things coming true or not true and opinions about whether people believe there is something in it?

Xx

@littledidsheknow
.nope cynical
"believing that people are motivated purely by self-interest; distrustful of sincerity or integrity. "
I am not a non believer but someone who questions sincerity when they are promoting themselves as readers of a cup full of tealeaves whilst taking payment up front. In her case, I was wrong.

Lovebeingmama · 03/10/2018 05:02

I didn’t believe in this and thought that most people got general information.
However, I went to a friends house for a medium session. Just thought it could be a laugh. She said a few things which were accurate but still quite general ...said my grandmothers name was Ann (quite a common name so not convinced) and that a close relative had a problem with blood (my sister had failing kidneys and had dialysis but thought was still quite a general comment).
However, she then said my grandad had joined the conversation and used a strange greeting ‘pop’s back’ . I was so shocked as he used this greeting a lot when entering the room. I still can’t get my head around how she would have known this.

Duskqueen · 03/10/2018 09:53

@Littledidsheknow I don't know about anyone else, but I am not stereotyping, the lady that comes to see us is a Romany Gypsy. She has been coming to see us for over 29 years and is very rarely wrong.

notwhitedee · 03/10/2018 10:17

My mum saw one and she was so good , she told my mum she was pregnant when my mum hadn't yet found out my mum was with my aunt and said no her daughters pregnant, the lady said no sorry she's having a boy your carrying a girl. My mum was, she told my mum that she would move rural, then coastal. That was correct and very random. At the time I was in trouble with a local gang no fault of my own I was bullied she told my mum if she doesn't get me away from them she can see a knife being involved. Two weeks later I was arrested for having a knife in my bag Blush she then told my mum that when my mum does move again coastal it would be without my dad. So far that ones still to be proven.

I went to a popular one who charged over 100 pounds her name was Tracey j Higgs my family had good results with her me not so much she didnt say anything unusual and said something would happen in September for me which was big this was last year and nothing big happened really

But when I went in her house all her cats came running in to sit on me and the dog wouldn't leave me alone she said I had a nice spirit and her cats dont usually behave like that
I am spiritual and an animal lady so animals do usually gel to me.

I use a tarot reader who is at a shop called northwest1 which is in hampstead they are semi good the readings are around 30 pounds for 20 mins

I'm on and off about psychics because none of them have been able to guess my mum is dead which I'm guessing is because I am 27 so not usually people so young have dead parents
They always bring up old relatives that have come through but I dont get why my mum wouldn't and she was the closest to me

Belina · 03/10/2018 11:53

If anyone can recommend one in london or surrounding areas can you let me know please

Gromance02 · 03/10/2018 13:02

It is all about chance. In all of the readings that take place, by the nature of odds, they are bound to get it spot on once in a while. People just choose to ignore the 99% that get it wrong.

It is like thinking there is something in it when someone pops into your head and a minute later they ring you. You just don't notice all of the thousands of times people pop into your mind and they don't ring you!

It would be more weird if psychics didn't get it spot on once in a while!

QueenDoris · 03/10/2018 13:06

I went to a pyschic who said that I would be ripped off by a charlatan. I thanked her, handed over £100 and left. It hasn’t happened yet.

alphajuliet123 · 03/10/2018 13:15

I was in India aged 24 and got told by a random man that I would have a very serious illness that I'd probably die from when I was either 41 or 51.
I happily got to age 42 but it still plays on my mind a bit, will be quite glad to turn 52.

Gromance02 · 03/10/2018 13:22

That is awful alphajuliet. What a horrific thing of him to say to you. Pure evil. I hope awful things happened to him.

alphajuliet123 · 03/10/2018 14:02

Thank you! He asked if I'd ever had surgery. I said yes, when I was 14 or 15, wasn't sure which. He said depending on which age it was (gestured with his hands as if swapping the numbers round) that when I was 41 or 51 I'd have a terrible illness, he looked really sad.

Anyway. As I approached my 40th birthday I went through my mum's diaries to find out exactly when it was, and I was 14. So I'm kinda hoping that means age 41 was "correct" and I'm still here to tell the tale!

I've never even told my husband this... because it's ridiculous

AsleepAllDay · 04/10/2018 06:48

@Belina Yona Farrell who reads tarot. I haven't had any spooky 'she knows random facts about me!' encounters but I find she's friendly, will refund if any issues & I feel like some of what she's said will happen is slowly taking place for me now

Mammaof · 04/10/2018 06:54

I went to one when I was 7 Weeks pregnant, she knew I was pregnant and said it was a little boy and I would have a girl straight after, yeah right I thought, she told me I needed to take care of myself and adviced I took a spoonful of honey a day. Which I thought was odd but didn't think anything of it. Before I left she grabbed my hand and said take care of myself. Low and behold at 16 weeks I had a missed miscarriage and it was a little boy, I had a little girl I got pregnant with 5 months later..

BertrandRussell · 04/10/2018 06:58

It's always worth a shot to say any woman of childbearing age is pregnant. If they aren't, you can say-well you will be soon. Or someone close to you is. And boy/girl is a 50/50 shot.

batshite1 · 04/10/2018 07:51

Not sure what to think. I believe people can have a sixth sense or a strong intuition about people or which life choice to make, if that makes sense. I’ve never had a reading, my mum went to one & the lady sent her on her way saying she knew the answers already.

batshite1 · 04/10/2018 07:57

what do people think about the police/FBI working with psychics to solve crimes?

RavenLG · 04/10/2018 07:58

I always was a non believer. Until I went to see a lady who did fortune cards. People
I worked with set it up, I just went along to see how funny it would be. Didn’t speak a word to her, she asked for something to hold that was personal, I gave her a costume jewellery ring I had on. First thing she said was “I sense a pregnancy that hasn’t ended well and you’re struggling” I’d had an abortion about a month previous and was torturing myself over it, no one I was with knew. Obviously it could have been a complete random shot in the dark but how many people would that work on? Who knows it was weird. She said other things that have rang true and others that haven’t.

IAcceptCookies · 04/10/2018 08:31

batshite

Please give examples of where/ when the police or FBI have actually approached psychics (rather than vice versa) and / or where psychics have actually helped solve a case with their information.

batshite1 · 04/10/2018 08:38

IAcceptCookies I wasn’t proposing it as proof it was a question as I’ve already said I’m not sure what I think & i remember seeing some programmes about psychics on those Sky crime channels. Just googled & this link came up

www.bustle.com/articles/196001-these-crimes-solved-by-psychics-might-make-you-a-believer

BertrandRussell · 04/10/2018 08:42

“Obviously it could have been a complete random shot in the dark but how many people would that work on?“

A lot of women of childbearing age. Many of us have miscarried. It was just particularly significant for you.

BertrandRussell · 04/10/2018 08:44

“what do people think about the police/FBI working with psychics to solve crimes?”

They don’t. If a psychic approaches the police they have to take it seriously because it could be that they have proper evidence, but have just wrapped it up in the supernatural stuff to protect themselves or someone else.

HappydaysArehere · 04/10/2018 08:47

Many years ago I was on a bus ride with a psychic. We got talking and towards the end of the journey which was quite a long one, she said she could see a large H above my head. Also she could see twins. She seemed really surprised when I said I didn’t have any in the family. She said she could definitely see them. Well I got married about 18 months later and my name changed to one beginning with H. Then I had two girls quite close together. I used to push them in a twin push chair and often buy them the same outfits to wear. Did she see them and assume they were twins? Who knows! Personally, I believed she really wanted to tell me what she actually saw.

IAcceptCookies · 04/10/2018 09:14

batshite I looked at that article and googled a couple of the cases. Psychics played no role in their solution, nor were they approached by police:

Case of Arthur Herbert: the "psychic" (approached and paid by Herbert's desperate sister) was a proven fraudster who had, in any case, given wrong information:

httpww.globalnetresearch.co/Part2.html

Case of Penney Serra was solved by DNA. Blood found at the scene matched that of someone previously known to police for violent behaviour:

articles.courant.com/2002-09-28/news/0209280153_1_serra-case-courtroom-grant-s-arrest

Not going to waste my time looking at any more if that crap.

BertrandRussell · 04/10/2018 09:22

There’s a fantastic scene in a Peter Wimsey story when someone pretends to be a psychic to try to find a missing will. She says her spirit guide said it was hidden somewhere beginning with B because she thought that would give them loads of oprions- bag, box, book and so on. After searching half the night the person they were trying to trick said “you know, if the guide hadn’t suggested B so definitely I would have suggested we look in the safe”

IAcceptCookies · 04/10/2018 09:28

Happy
There are no twins in your family. You yourself did not go on to have twins, so you're somehow convinced by a "psychic" who gave you WRONG information? Confused

Wow.
