WTF - after the testimony yesterday?

There seems to be some debate still about whether it hinges on an FBI investigation, but still. WTAF??

I was just reading the other thread on this, I am only just getting up to speed on this as I normally tune out political news.

(Brit in the US)

Gardenpicnic · 28/09/2018 19:10

Pffft.

Close though.

Merryoldgoat · 28/09/2018 19:12

I’m entirely unsurprised.

Todayissunny · 28/09/2018 19:18

Disgusted and horrified.

Hadjab · 28/09/2018 19:20

Didn’t think there would be any other outcome to be honest ☹️

tenbob · 28/09/2018 19:20

Ffs

Lolly49 · 28/09/2018 19:22

I expected nothing less just another two fingers up at women.
We just don’t seem to matter anymore.

LeNil · 28/09/2018 19:23

Male Arseholes Gaining Affluence. It’s disgusting.

BakedBeans47 · 28/09/2018 19:25

Disgraceful

ElfridaEtAl · 28/09/2018 19:26

Unsurprised but disgusted. The way people who come forward about abuse and attacks they've been through are treated is horrendous.

Molokonono · 28/09/2018 19:28

Of course they did!

Women do not matter.

End of.

EyeSaidTheFly · 28/09/2018 19:29

I don't quite know why but I feel pretty devastated about this. I mean, I know why I'm upset, can't say why I'm so upset. There's something very handmaid's tale about it: scary. I'm scared.

Terramirabilis · 28/09/2018 19:30

No they didn't. The Senate Judiciary Committee voted to advance the issue to a floor vote in the Senate. The full Senate has not voted yet.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 28/09/2018 19:32

I'm not happy but I'm not surprised.

Mama1980 · 28/09/2018 19:33

It is being reported though that without a FBI investigation being authorised then Flake and others would not vote yes in the full senate.
So it's a yes but only for now.
Trump would have to authorise an investigation so some are apparently seeing it as a way to force a criminal investigation on Trump.

Mama1980 · 28/09/2018 19:34

It's only been advanced to the senate. The senate itself hasn't voted yet.

glagdy · 28/09/2018 19:37

I'm calling Collins every day until the vote.

ThistleAmore · 28/09/2018 19:39

I remember when the 'grabbing them by the pussy' allegations came out against Trump and thinking, very naively: "That's it, he's done for now. Surely nobody can cast a vote in favour of a man who admits - indeed, delights - in sexually assaulting women."

And I was so, SO wrong.

I can't believe that, even as a 35-year-old woman (as I was then), that I appreciated so little how much men hate women, and how so many women also appear to hate other women.

I am a very different person these days. Colder, harder, more cynical.

So, yeah, Kavanaugh getting a free pass? Meh. Of course. Nothing surprises me these days, and I hate myself a little bit for it.

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 28/09/2018 19:40

It is being reported though that without a FBI investigation being authorised then Flake and others would not vote yes in the full senate.

Until they're coerced into voting him in and Ford is just another woman destroyed by her own truth.

Bowlofbabelfish · 28/09/2018 19:42

Trump would have to authorise an investigation so some are apparently seeing it as a way to force a criminal investigation on Trump.

Sorry can you explain what you mean by that? (And apologies if I’m being dim.)

glagdy · 28/09/2018 19:42

I only heard Flake say he'd vote no if the FBI didn't thoroughly investigate. Nobody else.

glagdy · 28/09/2018 19:43

I don't think that twat puffin is going to authorise it anyway.

Alex3101 · 28/09/2018 19:52

It's been sent to the senate to be voted on.
It is no surprise as this is actually more important than senate seats and really more important than Trump.
This will shape the law for upwards of 40 years and the conservative republicans will forgive or ignore almost anything to get this.
With the appointment of Gorsach last year Kavannagh would swing the Supreme Court way over to the right.
They need to advance it quickly and get it through before the mid terms in 5 weeks I think. If the republicans lose their majority he won't get on, as it is it might come down to VP Mike Pence to get it through.
It's funny the election of Trump was pretty much based on this, the republicans blocked Obamas pick until after the election and Trump appealed to the conservatives so they didn't care what he did. Democrats who didn't like Hilary didn't think of the consequences this would have on the Supreme Court.
This is a truly terrible event for women's, LGBT rights in America along with immigration.

spiderplantsalad · 28/09/2018 20:00

I'm not surprised but I am really disappointed. Apparently there's still a lot that can happen between now and him actually getting it confirmed, but it's just such a slap in the face that 11 out of 21 thought it was just fine to proceed after all the allegations coming out. It seems like women just don't matter at all.
