@mintyjones if you remove the personal comments (as MNHQ have done, even those that don’t contravene talk guidelines) then what’s the problem with what’s being discussed. Are these posters a ‘pain’ because they question integrity or have made accounts that advertise have to be upfront? Why is that not ok?
If you don’t like discussion then just don’t read, or ask for the whole of aibu to be deleted as there’s a lot of very questionable comments on other threads.
Personally I like a lot of Instagram but I do get frustrated with being mugged off by accounts.

I fully support upfront and clear disclosure. I don't support what is happening on these threads - bitching about individual women and picking over every single comment they make

Minty - I work with adolescents for whom social media plays a huge part, too big a part, of their lives - the low self-esteem, the humble-bragging, the gimme-gimme culture of these perfect Insta lives. Do spare me your lectures, it's my daily grind.

The trouble with much of Instagram is that the majority of the people doing vlogs etc are trying to make money.
So cheap hush viscose isn’t their priority. I don’t really mind about disclosure but I don’t think shilling crap (no thanks to polyester) for an inflated price is ethical.
The companies do it in their adverts but these people just don’t care and try and pass it off as good stuff.

I'm not lecturing anyone. I just really dislike seeing these horrible threads that are constantly re hashed when someone feels the need to slag off someone on Instagram. If she's declaring properly then you'll have a pop at how unethical she is to promote polyester (wtf?) and if she's not declaring then YAY - bingo! You get to properly go for it.

@mintyjones I guess there’s a fine line. It’s easy to see why people want to discuss an account that’s controversial or outspoken but in doing so that can become a bit like ganging up. My view was it was a bit unsettling so I was not happy about it’s deletion, the fact that so many comments were deleted that did not contravene guidelines looks odd and worse than it was. I’ve no wish to discuss those accounts as it just fuels it further.
Regarding the monetising accounts, well why not discuss. Followers are what it’s all about, and the mumsnetters who discuss are followers so feed back can be constructive. The mod/fod business has been like any other reality show unfolding.

@mintyjones not lecturing anyone either,it's just really horrible to see. I don't blame big Insta names for getting upset if they have thread after thread running about them, and constantly slagged off. It must be awful.
It's not a case of "well they put themselves out there, so they need a thicker skin" which someone charmingly said on one of the other ones.... they're human! Constant pile ons are like grown up bullying playgrounds and it's uncomfortable for right minded people reading, so goodness knows what it'd be like to actually be on the receiving end.

Why not mention what she’s selling? It’s advertising! She’s paid to advertise so it’s wotking. I don’t follow Susie, but now I know what’s she advertising. It’s kind of genius and people have nothing to bitch about, as you say it’s openly advertised.
