We can't talk about 'her who should not be named' 🙄 so you'll have to move your chat about her to one of the other online forums/har boards I think. Otherwise this thread will be deleted and yet another narrative created that we're all bitches.

That "things you can't live without" made me laugh. Different world. I'm always intrigued by the sleepyheads though. Haven't they (or ones like it) been linked to SIDS now though?

Har - chat (odd autocorrect there!)

glagdy · 29/09/2018 13:12

As long as nobody insults or breaks guidelines it's ok no?

Although having said that many of the posts deleted from the last thread didn't go against any mn rules.

And I got a threatened suspension for a comment that wasn't against the rules so I guess it may be a touchy subject. Hmm

MrBull · 29/09/2018 13:15

Exactly. Different rules seem to apply. It's a no-go area apparently, so best to steer clear. It probably was done to death anyway and just fueling a bigger monster, whichever way you look at the debate.

Off to reddit I go.....

MightyMousey · 29/09/2018 13:20

Yes I was suspended and I’d been trying to be very careful what I said, and so I’ve unfollowed and am not mentioning.
The sleepyhead- I’d probably be scared to use to be honest. The SIDS advise is still to have nothing in the cot like that and it is a sleep positioner.
I’m lucky enough to have a baby who likes lying on a soft fleece over her sheet so I guess my Aldi blanket at £3.99 is doing the job of the £155 sleepyhead for me 😊

SpiritLeveller · 29/09/2018 14:17

The baby industry in particular thrives on selling you "stuff". Most of which you don't need really but I can see why its tempting to try anything, even a £155 pillow, if it meant your baby sleeping better and an end to the sleep deprivation.

MightyMousey · 29/09/2018 14:27

@spiritleveller so true. And if you have a poor sleeper you will try anything. A sleepyhead is probably cheaper than the cranial osteopath I wasted money on with one of mine! But the truth is these things are not ‘essential’ but these influencers are very powerful especially with the baby stuff. Just off the top of my head, there’s the triplet mum (no longer follow), motherofalladventures, the OD’s, the meldrums-that’s 7 sleepyheads. Then there’s bugaboos and Martha with the city jogger, the perfect prep, the stokke chairs and cots (MOD/mother of five boys) - it’s very easy to think that these things are required for the picture perfect parenting experience.
When the reality is that even with £26 cot and £13 high chair from Ikea you still love your child exactly the same.

SpiritLeveller · 29/09/2018 14:33

Add into the mix that a lot of new mums are socially isolated and have gone from demanding jobs to suddenly kicking their heels at home with just a baby to keep them company for long stretches and you can see why browsing Instagram for some company/mental stimulation can feel attractive (the swipe up shopping comes as a bonus). Which is of course why mothercare sponsors influencers and there are plenty of gifted baby products knocking around.

MightyMousey · 29/09/2018 15:03

In my postnatal fog following my previous child I will be forever grateful for MP. Her trying on clothes, herself postnatal, and humerous take on different outfits and breastfeeding actually made me feel so much better about myself and trying to hard to be someone I wasn’t.

EvePolastri · 29/09/2018 15:54

My post was in support of cookie ... who is being bullied online

Deleted

MrBull · 29/09/2018 16:25

It also mentioned the person we now can't name though EvePolastri.

I didn't start using Instagram until my eldest was past the baby stage, otherwise I could easily have been sucked into buying a lot of crap I didn't need. I did a good enough job of that on my own 😆

ivegotatheoryitcouldbebunnies1 · 29/09/2018 17:05

I defended the person we can’t talk about and asked for some of the posts to be deleted (the very mean ones) but even I’m finding her hard work now! What’s true and what isn’t? How much of it is in character? I just don’t know anymore!

EvePolastri · 29/09/2018 17:08

It didn't name that one at all only Cookie actually Smile

SpiritLeveller · 29/09/2018 17:11

It could possibly be CK asking for them to be removed. She doesn't strike me as someone who thrives on attention so maybe she doesn't want to be associated with any of it, which would be fair enough, especially as so much seems to be based on guesses and speculation.

EvePolastri · 29/09/2018 17:21

I don't blame her

I expressed surprise that she was being bullied by someone who was moaning about , supposedly, being bullied herself.

The best ones do always end up leaving

AtHomeInFrance · 29/09/2018 17:29

Really disappointed by Mumsnet - seems this place of free speech now exists in thrall to the big bucks of Instagram. Did think they had more integrity. Perfectly valid issues being stifled. Are there any other places to talk for people who don't want to fall into line?

Mercier1 · 29/09/2018 17:39

Can anyone tell me what happened cookie? To make her delete her account.

MintyJones · 29/09/2018 17:42

Try Reddit.

And you're disappointed in MN? What on earth is there still to discuss? These threads are just a front for a good old bitching session - the names may change but that's it.

SpiritLeveller · 29/09/2018 17:43

I don’t think anyone knows really. I don’t think she was enjoying Instagram for a while before she disappeared. I hope she comes back though when she’s ready.

EvePolastri · 29/09/2018 17:46

Yet you are still here minty

Moaning.... but it makes me laugh most people just ignore you and carry on over you regardless Grin

Mercier1 · 29/09/2018 17:47

I saw a comment on another account alluding the cookie being a liar and wondered what that was all about? Anyone know what happened?

SpiritLeveller · 29/09/2018 17:47

Plenty left to discuss. Especially since ASA have clarified the rules. We can discuss who genuinely believes “transparency is so important to me” and who just wants to make an easy buck off our eyeballs.

MintyJones · 29/09/2018 17:48

I've posted three times Confused Someone has to be a voice of reason. And I'm not the one being deleted.

These threads need to stop. I'm glad MNHQ clearly feel the same - you people are SUCH a pain
