Agreed @VenelopeVonSweetz I can't be bothered commenting on this thread, nothing I said before was deleted and I stand by my point that deleting the whole thread makes it look like every comment was bitchy (which it wasn't)

SpiritedFarAway · 28/09/2018 20:43

😂😂😂 @SpiritLeveller

Now there's an idea 😄

EvePolastri · 28/09/2018 20:52

theres other forums for a fair debate

mums net is sliding downhill.....fast

Cobrider · 28/09/2018 20:53

I am not keen on trolls, would rather keep it here but...

ivegotatheoryitcouldbebunnies1 · 28/09/2018 20:54

Mumsnet...your arse really twitches when instamums are mentioned. It’s off with the thread. Are they all threatening to sue? People will just move elsewhere to talk about them. I’ve seen threads popping up about them on other forums. Aren’t you better off keeping your posters...there’s nothing more polarising than an instamum it seems Grin

Scientistic · 28/09/2018 20:55

Cheers @evepolastri!

MrBull · 28/09/2018 20:57

I agree that most of it wasn't at all bitchy, but hey, what can we do? It does seem that other things are at play behind the scenes. I personally think if influencers have a monetised account, in any form, that takes them out of the 'normal mum just trying to navigate this new medium' and very much in the same category as other public figures.

I do think keeping these threads alive, particularly on the ad transparency theme, is good though. The instamums seem to behave better when the debate is fresh/current. I noticed a bit of a decline again when things were quieter on here. Did you see how many of them got the Mac lipsticks?! And recently it's been all the new farrow and ball colour samples. Some are great at saying - I've been sent this for free - others just go straight into raving about the products without mentioning how they came to have them.

And @spiritleveller

I do find it off everyone is fair game except instamums on here. Is it because thinks their target market therefore they are likely users, whereas Teresa May etc wouldn't be on here. Mind you Carole Middleton did pop up a while back didn't she and a fellow royal on one thread, so there are many famous types among us...

If have thought instamums would be more concerned with reddit and gomi. They are savage. I do agree the last thread became a pile on though and mainly about cc and it was too much.

Scientistic · 28/09/2018 21:02

This is, not thinks... long day...

EeebyMum · 28/09/2018 21:02

Is there a reddit group? I think one was mentioned on an earlier thread

Scientistic · 28/09/2018 21:02

I'd not if!!

ThomasAndFriendss · 28/09/2018 21:03

What's TAAT?

Cobrider · 28/09/2018 21:04

On a really basic level, why is it alright for some people to attack others, encourage their followers to but cry victim if anyone questions their ‘truth’ or behaviour.
I have no dog in this race, maybe I have missed a load of background but I spotted inconsistencies fairly early on and there was no need for it. The aggression, the constant wails of being bullied.
The instance that someone gets lawyers involved to shut down any meaningful discussion, I lose all respect.
No one comes out of this looking good.

Cobrider · 28/09/2018 21:09

*instant

MrBull · 28/09/2018 21:09

Carole Middleton is a mumsnetter! Is she also on gransnet? Grin

There are some much more vicious/trolly/bitchy forums about. Tattle, Guru Gossiper etc. But none as high profile or with as many views as an active AIBU thread on mumsnet and that's why mumsnet keeps getting all the beef I think. Lots of people see it and it's damaging to an instamum's business - or lucrative, depending on how it goes! They often get loads of followers out of a mention on here I believe.

SpiritLeveller · 28/09/2018 21:13

Although the posts at the end of the thread were coming thick and fast I thought a lot of it was an interesting discussion about what constitutes art. There were few personal attacks that I could see. I was a bit bemused by some of the deletions.

SpiritLeveller · 28/09/2018 21:14

Did Carol Middleton really go on a thread? Or is that a MN urban myth?!

Cobrider · 28/09/2018 21:15

Well I liked Cookie and I hope she gets lawyers involved for any libellous allegations. Fight fire with fire Cookie.

Scientistic · 28/09/2018 21:16

@eeby there is certainly discussion on them, and about these threads. I meant in general those sites are savage though. Just had a flick through gomi instagram section and it's rather no holds barred!

SpiritLeveller · 28/09/2018 21:18

I also agree the shady ad behaviour starts to creep in again when the threads die down. I noticed one influencer who should know better sending spammy affiliate links out on twitter again. We see you 👀

Scientistic · 28/09/2018 21:20

@spiritleveller @mrbull it was a thread about being famous or being related to, from memory. Someone made a comment about William and someone else commented about how a family member of theirs was being spoken about and how weird it is. Then along comes ilovepartybags (!) to say her dd is very famous and that the previous commenter probbly knows what that feels like. She then commented about marrying into additional strings etc but how proud she was. She came across very well. A few people clocked it was her and she didnt dent and made a comment about being granny etc.

Also; I have no idea how I remember all of that. I think I was on mat leave and spending too much time on here, ha.

Scientistic · 28/09/2018 21:21

Deny not dent. My typing has lost the will to live tonight.

MrBull · 28/09/2018 21:22

It has crossed my mind that some might self troll (themselves and their most loyal followers) on these threads to facilitate getting them removed, but that's just a conspiracy theory. I really hate that the whole threads were deleted and not just the comments that broke the rules, but I'll say no more on that.

If you ever glance at any of the other forums mumsnet seems like a civil afternoon tea with the WRI in comparison.

Was cookie on the last thread? I really like cookie..

SpiritLeveller · 28/09/2018 21:22

Omg I love the name ilovepartybags Grin
