Yeah, they're both full time vloggers with a couple of you tube channels. She does a lot of shopping hauls (and apparently a half arsed book club Wink)

Because they make their sole living out of it, they're probably a hard watch for most of the people who follow these threads though. Lots of #af and shady ad disclosure in the past. I think they've possibly improved there. It was on one of these threads that they were busted for non disclosure of a gifted holiday.

USP - I'd say family account, yes same genre as the other one. Seems to do quite well, the family angle as lots of people are obviously interested in them.

Asgoodasarest · 01/10/2018 15:53

Was the book little fires everywhere? I’ve just tried to work it out from the posts. Totally off topic I know but I’ve recently read it and enjoyed it. Definitely a slow burner, but I’m glad I stuck with it.

Anyway as you were!

EvePolastri · 01/10/2018 16:00

it was little fires, yes.

was looking forward to getting stuck in (got this weekend off, rare event) so i will give it a go.

the widow was first bookclub book. that was ok and most of us thought the same thing

SpiritLeveller · 01/10/2018 16:08

I would persist, the reviews everywhere else are good, so it must be decent. It is pretty poor form imo to set up a book club and then duck out because you found the book dull. At least finish the book and then discuss why you found it dull. I think Erica Davies is the only one that looks committed to book clubs - she has her own separate book club page which suggests she isn't just in it to drive traffic to her main page.

Asgoodasarest · 01/10/2018 16:16

Well I really enjoyed it so definitely give it a go. The reese Witherspoon book club reviewed it last year and I bet some of those comments will still be on IG so you can compare notes. All is not lost!
Anyway I’ll shut up now to avoid taking the thread off course.
I’ve been reading with interest and tend to follow a lot less people these days. I find if you follow too many similar accounts you just end up with the same stuff repeated. Plus as soon as it appears someone isn’t being clear with ads etc then I’m off.

AtHomeInFrance · 01/10/2018 16:37

Yep, I also enjoyed it very much - as did my book group. Not sure how much trust I would invest in the instamum book group collective tbh. I have never read a review for any book from any of them that amounted to anything more than a cut and paste Amazon blurb.

catinboots9 · 01/10/2018 17:27

TOM has said on her stories today that there is a nasty thread about her on here.

Really? I honestly thought she was one of the universally liked Instamums. She is someone who comes across as genuine

AtHomeInFrance · 01/10/2018 17:33

Who is TOM?

ShirleyPhallus · 01/10/2018 17:34

Who is TOM?

Would also like to know

EvePolastri · 01/10/2018 17:35

The organised mum?

moreofaslummythanyummy · 01/10/2018 17:36

I have just come over from TOM stories to see if it is this thread she is talking about. She is so likeable and down to earth , i cant see anything though

CadyHeron · 01/10/2018 17:44

There is a thread running about the TOMM account, I haven't really seen any nastiness on it though? Just people discussing whether the method works for them or not.

MightyMousie · 01/10/2018 17:44

Probably someone said you’re mentioned on mumsnet and because mumsnet ‘must be evil’ then it must be bad...

EvePolastri · 01/10/2018 17:57

Can someone link the thread?

Jackiebrambles · 01/10/2018 18:08

Eve I’d be so annoyed too about that book purchase! It’s definitely the point to read it and then discuss.

I did start that particular book a couple of days ago and I was too tired and found it too hard work (heavy weekend/young kids) so I swapped to ‘anatomy of a scandal’ but I am going back to it after that as people have raved about it!!

MightyMousie · 01/10/2018 18:17

Definitely agree with Jackie about the book! The whole point is to discuss it. It’s pretty lame to blow the whole thing off because you didn’t really like it and gave up! You could even talk about what you didn’t like and why you stopped reading. Loads of people like The Girl on The Train but I thought it was dreadful!!

MrBull · 01/10/2018 18:58

Haven't seen any nastiness about TOM. It does seem to be a theme to report that though. Burn the Mumsnet bitches 😀! I really hope they don't read what's said about them on the lesser moderated sites. I know we have had posters on these threads who have crossed a line (particularly with the ODs as that got really personal) but in the most part we're just the moany policemen of instagram ethics.

Ive rated TOM I think she’s great!

MightyMousie · 01/10/2018 19:04

I’m astonished FOD is so popular. It’s such an act for the camera and the posts are so contrived. But people love him. I had to block a woman I used to live near (we didn’t follow each other so not rudely) but she’s always commenting on his posts with adoration and telling him how funny he is and I just couldn’t see that any more!!

glagdy · 01/10/2018 19:20

@honeyandmilk what for? The child post?
