To be a bit miffed at this

I picked my daughter up from an after school club. She is 5 and in year 1. It took one look at her and saw that her school pinafore was inside out, and on closer inspection her polo shirt was ALSO inside out.

She had PE this morning. I get that she is 5, and may have mishaps when getting dressed again, but I'm just a bit surprised that no one notice bothered to ask her to change it. AIBU? Or should I mention it to her newly qualified teacher ?

I realise at lunchtime yesterday that my jumper was inside out. I can't blame an nqt or my being 5. Wink

Glumglowworm · 27/09/2018 20:33

what actual difference does it make? She clearly wasn’t bothered by it.

Let it go.

Have her practice getting dressed quickly at home, including when her clothes are higgledy piggledy as she left them rather than neat piles you give her.

She’ll get the hang of it. But in the meantime let it go, this really really really isn’t worth speaking to the teacher about

And making the point about her being NQT is just bitchy

ContessasGulagSpaDay · 27/09/2018 20:34

DS1 gave me a hug as I left him at school today and I noticed that his t-shirt was on back to front under his jumper. I pointed this out. He shrugged. I too shrugged, and then left. He is in Year 3. No one cared Grin

Cantusethatname · 27/09/2018 20:34

I always knew when my eldest had had PE because his trousers were back to front when he got home. Happy days.

SophieSellerman · 27/09/2018 20:35

O dear. Wait until she comes home in another child's entire uniform Grin. I really, really wouldn't worry about any of this stuff.

MissContrary · 27/09/2018 20:36

I don't think they inspect them after pe

Nicknacky · 27/09/2018 20:37

Why are you miffed about this?

HolesinTheSoles · 27/09/2018 20:38

My then 6 year old once went to school with his trousers back to front because I only noticed when we were out the door and I couldn't be bothered to go back and change them so I can definitely forgive a teacher struggling to get 30 5 years olds changed in a short space of time!

Flashingbeacon · 27/09/2018 20:39

My friend had p1 for the first time and couldn’t believe what went wrong when they got changed. The best example was a girl who had for her jumper stuck in her tights but got into a tizzy trying to find it. As in, she was wearing the tights.
Anyway friend was sweating and they had lots of practises after that.

eggofmantumbi · 27/09/2018 20:39

OP why make a point of saying the teacher is newly qualified? So what? Erk - are you being unreasonable!?!🙄

StitchingMoss · 27/09/2018 20:42

I teach KS2 and my kids do this some times too!

Chill out fgs - this is not something to be miffed about.

ThePinkOcelot · 27/09/2018 20:43

I used to just raise my eyebrows and laugh when this happened with my dds. It’s not a big deal.
Pick your battles. This isn’t one of them.

underneaththeash · 27/09/2018 20:43

two of my three children went to expensive private schools at that age and still often came home with clothes the wrong way round/inside out etc.
I actually think that's an important t part of the PE lesson in infant school learning to put your clothes somewhere you'll find them afterwards, them finding them and then putting them on the right way round.
DD's speciality was coming back with no pants on, we must have lost at least 1 pair a week for most of reception/year 1.

Deadringer · 27/09/2018 20:43

In our area kids wear their tracksuits on pe days instead of their uniforms, it's so much more sensible that them having to change. Why don't all schools do this?

NoSquirrels · 27/09/2018 20:45

Why do you mind about it?

SavoyCabbage · 27/09/2018 20:47

If the teacher had said ‘lily-mae, your top and your dress are inside out. Go and take them off and put them on again the right way’ then your five year old would have been disheartened.

She probably thought she’d done a good job. I imagine you told her she had got it all wrong as soon as you saw her and made her put them on correctly.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 27/09/2018 20:51

FFS, I walked around school all day last week with my cardigan on inside out. I'm not 5. But yes, the teacher should check that every single child is perfectly turned out as well as the myriad of other things she has to do

Ruperbear · 27/09/2018 20:52

No harm is done. When all mine were little all us Mums would watch and secretly smile at the way the children would come out after PE. 😊. Only time I went to see the teacher was when my four year old had struggled to get his socks on properly due to sweaty gym feet and he had then pushed his shoes on top and it cut his foot. It was obvious when he walked out he was struggling Now that was a visit to the teacher!

Whatsthisbear · 27/09/2018 20:53

Mine once came out in trouser half way up his shins because they were someone else’s and far too short on him, he also came home with one shoe on 2 sizes smaller than his other shoe and on another occasion he came out in a completely different pair of shoes. All his stuff had his name in.
It happens.

Gersemi · 27/09/2018 20:53

Sorry, besides the point but I think teachers have other things to do than check all the children are properly dressed again

I sort of agree, but on the other hand - how difficult is it, when you are spending a couple of hours with those children, to notice when one has their clothes on inside out and to say something about it?

tequilasunset · 27/09/2018 20:56

Newly qualified is still qualified...what makes you think you know better?

If you're so concerned, teach your child to get dressed properly.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 27/09/2018 20:57

Aw, I remember when DS3 used to come home after PE with his sweatshirt inside out with the dark, fluffy side on the outside. Cute.

CripsSandwiches · 27/09/2018 20:59

Gersemi

I imagine the teacher might well have noticed but OP's DD wasn't bothered by it and they had probably moved on to a lesson so she thought there was no point disturbing the lesson while the DD got all undressed again.

Vinorosso74 · 27/09/2018 20:59

I wouldn't worry. My 8yo DD was in such a hurry to eat the sweets another girl had brought to dancing as it was her birthday she put her leggings on inside our and back to front!

Rainbowtrain · 27/09/2018 21:00

I left the house this morning with my sweater back to front and a Thomas the Tank engine sticker on my bottom.
