Shitty homemade Christmas Gifts

I’m really loving the homemade Christmas gifts thread, and am watching it for inspiration. Can we start one for ideas for things to avoid - ie glitter-encrusted his&hers champagne flutes.

Oh I don’t mind homemade jam as long as I know the giver keeps a clean kitchen and I am always willing to find room for some homemade sloe gin.

Knitted or embroidered bookmarks
Homemade iPad or kindle cases
Anything tie dyed especially clothing

Mounted pictures made from using felt tips on kitchen towel. These come from an adult.

A peg doll nativity I feel inspired

Well the peg doll nativity was better than the toilet roll inner tube nativity

Painted ostrich or goose eggs
Pots with a planting kit of compost and sunflower or other seeds to plant yourself.

Anything painted or written on a stone. Especially inspirational phrase on hold pen on pebbles fro your favourite beach

You should gather all your thoughts about this and make it into a book (complete with photos of the hideous gifts you’ve obviously received). You could then give that as a Christmas gift!

Homemade soap/bath bombs. Not great for sensitive skin.

Anything non-alcoholic.

I was planning on making jams and bean tin Christmas cakes again this year...I didn't think they were so terrible! Have I been kidding myself all these years?!

I was also tempted to make a painted stone nativity set which I notice combines many PPs dislikes...so maybe I should make my excuses...

I love the kids’ Christmas cards sold by their primary schools. Don’t be so bah humbug. Best things ever.

I always make my sister treacle toffee for Xmas 🎅🏾 she loves it and gets very angry if people ask for a piece. Maybe she has been lying to me all these years!

Please god no photo albums for close friends. They should be saved for blood relatives only.

I think....if you can't afford to buy people something they'd like, then just don't bother.

Unless you're a professional artisan, it's not wanted. I KNOW people will soon arrive on thread weeping that they spend hours weaving gerbil shawls for their loved ones, or how they've been out brambling for days in order to make 90 jars for their loved-ones....but....just don't!

I think an awful lot of it is for the maker's pleasure. If you like making things then do it but don't give it away if it's something ANYONE could make.

I’ve found my people.

Last year I got some crafty knitted crappy thing. I said, “Oh, you shouldn’t have.” Gift giver demurred. I’m thinking, “No, really, you shouldn’t have. It’s shite.”

A couple of xmases ago my then dp bought me a green fluffy wool hedgehog made by his ex-girlfriend.

Hilarious. Many of these things I think every yr ‘I should do that’ to save money, but can’t be arsed. You have all saved me the bother. Fiver in a card it is.

Is this really a thing? I hope they wash out the tin. Baked bean flavoured madeira or chocolate cake sounds revolting!

I would like to receive a couple of the things mentioned above in app. The bookmarks , can never have too many as I always lose them. And the homemade iPad case would be appreciated one of ours has no cover . I would be so delighted to receive something handmade but don’t imagine it happening , except from DD.

Any form of clothing for pets

YABVVU. Dressing up pets is so fun and the shitter the outfit the better. So if you get a hand knitted wonky cardigan or half finished tutu suitable for a small male cavalier puppy I will pay you cash money for it.
